Posted at 8:35 AM by Brittany, on November 24, 2015

    1. As I write this my back is exposed to the public. My favorite standing table at my favorite Starbucks (other than my own of course) is occupied, thus I must be vulnerable until my table is available.

    2. It’s gotten cold in my woods. This means my favorite vest is worn…everyday.

    IMG_5869-0

    Creature of habit.

    3. OK, it’s not that bad. We’ve been hanging out between 35-45F.

    4. My nutrition has been on point lately.

    IMG_5897

    Carbs, on carbs, on carbs.

    5. What’s changed? I stopped eating so much fruit. I know, the horror.

    6. After two months of minimal running, I signed up for a Thanksgiving day 10K. I decided I should make sure I wouldn’t die and went for a 6 mile run. It was amazing.

    0F523DBF-5D30-4354-A0DF-71C87BCE7D6B

    Fueled by oatmeal and coffee.

    7. I’ve never run a race on Thanksgiving, and I haven’t run a single race in 2015.

    8. I am obsessed with romaine hearts. Like, eat an entire bunch every day obsessed.

    IMG_5898

    9. I’m OK with this obsession, it’s like eating the sun for a natural and legal high.

    10. Speaking of high, I once ate a spoonful of catnip just to see what would happen. Turns out catnip is actually brewed like tea to help things like anxiety, indigestion, and stress. No wonder my cat loves it.

    Q: What’s your confession?

What a good bunch of confessions. Good luck on your race on Thursday! I ran the past 3 years, and decided against it this year since a) we are suppose to have some icky weather hit and b) girl just wants to wake up and relax. Confession for me today? I’m slightly ticked about having to work on Thursday and I had a protein bar for breakfast. Food is ‘bleh’ after getting my flu shot yesterday.

Good luck on your race! I’m bummed I can’t run on Thanksgiving… resting my knee still after pushing it too far too fast a couple weeks ago. My confession, beneath this strong, happy exterior, I’m literally falling apart. I love Christmas, and want absolutely nothing to do with it this year.

I hate it when my table is taken at Starbucks. Luckily, may favourite one is currently undergoing renovations, which seems to have scared off the majority of people and only left us die-hard loyalists… meaning I get my table every.single.time  And I definitely notice that my stomach loves me a little more when I eat less fruit, but ugh… so hard!

Avoiding fruit was hard for the first day, and somewhat the second, but the moment my energy improved, my skin started glowing, and my pants fit better I was ALL for it. I was eating at least six servings a day, sometimes MORE. Now I’m (choosing) to not have any, except for a piece here and there every few days. The best part? I’m eating BREADS and other carbs with MUCH more success and feel so much better!

My confession today is that I spent the last two hours of my shift at work reading even when my boss told me I shouldn’t do that. I’m sorry but I had been making up things to do all day and he was leaving so I was done re-organizing the shirts and cleaning the same surfaces. On the Brightside today I took a bunch of lessons about the different brands we sell and now get 50-60% off at all their online stores! I wish I had money so I could buy some things!

Confession? You don’t really know what you are asking. I’ll go with the application I put in for another job that I have not told my boss or workers about.

On more relevant topics: Nice vest. Srsly. And way to go and that pace! I’ve been up in the foothills doing lots of climbs lately so my times have been slooooow. I’m tempted to hit the local Turkey Day 10k but…I”m cheap and I’d rather run the trails. I’ll take some pictures for you.

It’s cooler here in the desert as well. I find I’m wearing my buff a lot. I didn’t think I’d like it but I get so much use out of it. Maybe it’s just because I’m growing my hair out…

I’ve never tried catnip but I wouldn’t put it past me.

Good looking pics and I can’t wait to see your race results!

According to Ayurvedic school of thought, fruit should always be separated from other foods. two hrs after a meal or an hr before. The belief is that fruit digests much faster than other foods (especially melons which should be separate even from other fruits).

So if you eat say an apple with your sandwich then the apple which should have digested quickly, gets mixed in with the sandwich and then ferments while it is taking longer to digest.

I don’t follow Ayurveda strictly, but this feels better for me.

Yup, yup, yup! I totally believe this, and it makes sense. HOWEVER, I noticed when I ate fruit even alone my heart rate elevated to an uncomfortable level, my body started to get inflammation in certain spots, and I felt anxious. I adore fruit, but just need a mini reset I think. I was eating far too much.

I couldn’t function without fruit. I literally have one to five servings a day. It’s my way of eating sunshine. Greens on the other hand, I’ve had to push, probably because it’s so damn cold and I want soup instead of a salad. To make everyone happy (me, the tomato, the body) I’m doing both.

I hope your Thanksgiving Day race was a success. I finally got clearance for exercise and “you know what” again so yesterday I went for a mile run, got a massage and also took care of business. Let’s just say I’m a happy lady today and headed to my first prenatal yoga class in a couple hours. I’m intrigued.
