iHike
I often daydream about thru-hiking the PCT or Appalachian Trail. Until then, these are some of my explorations through the mountains, and everywhere in between. I often go on solo hikes, and you can read more about why here. While I haven’t yet embarked on months of straight hiking, I did once do a week of straight hiking in Scotland on the West Highland Way. I can’t recommend this trail enough.

My partner lived in WA for 16-years! These and other posts make your site wonderfully diverse. Thanks for the stop-by and Like on a post of mine. Cheers!

Thank you!! I adore my state, I can’t imagine living anywhere other than the PNW!

What a fun blog! Thanks for stopping by and liking Sky High. Really glad to have discovered you!

I you do that AT you’ll walk through the section I maintain: from Sage’s Ravine to Mt. Race (southern MA) and down the Race Brook Falls Trail. I haven’t done the whole thing either nor do I have the desire. Day hiking’s my thing.
I did, in my youth, do the John Muir Trail and it was great. I guess I’ve done at least some of the PCT. And, when I lived in Oregon I did quite a bit of the PCT up there.
Keep on hiking, it’s great for almost everything else you do in life and it’s great in and of itself.

I love hiking and I love hiking alone. What better way to leave all of those voices in my head behind and really live in the moment. Thank you for visiting our blog. We appreciate it.

This is very cool, I’m heading through Washington and Oregon in early spring. How will the Olympic National Park be for hiking in early March?
Brittany
Cold!! Probably snow in certain areas too. Definitely worth a trip though, so pack warm clothes and check out wta.org for conditions and specific hikes!!

Nice pictures and guides to a beautiful part of the US! Love to get over there some day… I’ve really enjoyed trekking in the mountains since moving to japan 16+ years ago (most of Japan is mountains…).

I spent 70 miles on the AT this summer. Talked to many thru hikers. They all have a sparkle in their eye, and it’s contagious.
And I came across a great Mt Rainier story here http://tandemtrekking.com/2015/07/09/the-ironic-proposal/
Happy Trails!

Thank you for your visit to “Meanders”. I used to live in Seattle and your list of North Bend mountains made me smile – Si, Washington, Mailbox, Rattlesnake and Teneriffe were my go-to winter hiking destinations. If you haven’t looked into the Teanaway River area (by Cle Elum) then you might want to give it a try – it can be spectacular especially in the springtime.
Brittany
Thank you for the tip! I will surely check them out.

I’d love to hear your suggestions for best runnable hikes in the Seattle area (I know Mt. Si is on that list) and if you love hiking you have to come to Montana!
Brittany
I’m not a big trail runner, so I don’t have the best input on runnable hikes. I suppose they could all be run on, but some are very steep!
I spent a very brief time in Montana a few summers ago. I worked at Yellowstone for five months and the hiking was amazing. I’d love to see more of Montana!

Have you already hiked all the areas listed or this a wish list? If it’s the former, I am in awe. The Appalachian Trail is easily accessible to me, so I have done most of it in PA and all of Maryland. Would love to do some hiking in Scotland.
Brittany
These are places I have hiked! They are linked to the blog posts they correlate with. I cannot recommend hiking in Scotland enough!

Um. HOW HAVE YOU DONE ALL OF THIS? I’m impressed. Though I guess I have one on you because I hiked the Appalachian Trail for one measly week many many moons ago. So there!
Brittany
I have yet to hike much on the East coast, and I’d love to see some of the AT!
