1. As I write this my back is exposed to the public. My favorite standing table at my favorite Starbucks (other than my own of course) is occupied, thus I must be vulnerable until my table is available.
2. It’s gotten cold in my woods. This means my favorite vest is worn…everyday.

Creature of habit.
3. OK, it’s not that bad. We’ve been hanging out between 35-45F.
4. My nutrition has been on point lately.

Carbs, on carbs, on carbs.
5. What’s changed? I stopped eating so much fruit. I know, the horror.
6. After two months of minimal running, I signed up for a Thanksgiving day 10K. I decided I should make sure I wouldn’t die and went for a 6 mile run. It was amazing.

Fueled by oatmeal and coffee.
7. I’ve never run a race on Thanksgiving, and I haven’t run a single race in 2015.
8. I am obsessed with romaine hearts. Like, eat an entire bunch every day obsessed.
9. I’m OK with this obsession, it’s like eating the sun for a natural and legal high.
10. Speaking of high, I once ate a spoonful of catnip just to see what would happen. Turns out catnip is actually brewed like tea to help things like anxiety, indigestion, and stress. No wonder my cat loves it.
Q: What’s your confession?

Good luck on your race! Can’t wait to hear about it! Always interesting/fun to hear your perspective!
My confession? I ate a few goldfish during my sorority days …. I know… Now I think it’s horrible and cruel … But this IS confession, right?
Brittany
OH MY! Momentarily when I read “goldfish” I assumed the crackers…then it sunk in. HAHA YOWZA!
Kelsey
What a good bunch of confessions. Good luck on your race on Thursday! I ran the past 3 years, and decided against it this year since a) we are suppose to have some icky weather hit and b) girl just wants to wake up and relax. Confession for me today? I’m slightly ticked about having to work on Thursday and I had a protein bar for breakfast. Food is ‘bleh’ after getting my flu shot yesterday.
Brittany
I’ve worked on Thanksgiving the last two years, and while it was fun I wanted this year totally off!! Thus the opportunity to RUNNN. We are supposed to have SUNSHINE so I am super jazzed!
Kelsey
Sounds amazing!
purejackie
It is getting cold but I still haven’t pulled out my winter coats yet haha, and good luck on that race! , I need to get back into running too.
kathy at more coffee, less talky
ahh, you’ll do awesome; you eat 10Ks for breakfast!!
it’s been cold AF here! we even have snow on the ground #rage
Brittany
#rage is legit my favorite hashtag, but only when you use it. It’s supposed to be sunny here on Thanksgiving so I am hopeful for rainbows and unicorns to shoot out my backside while I run.
B
Good luck on your race! I’m sure you’ll have a great time (and that is in fact a pun LOL). Can’t wait to hear about it!
whostardis
you look so cute curled up in your vest! its 60 here and im freezing! lol i love your confessions…mine is sometimes i get sick of eating pizza…i know the HORROR
Emma @em-poweredwellness
Good luck on the race! I actually just bought some stress-relieving tea, and one of the ingredients is catnip!
Brittany
HA, SEE! That’s too funny.
Deena
Good luck on your race! I’m bummed I can’t run on Thanksgiving… resting my knee still after pushing it too far too fast a couple weeks ago. My confession, beneath this strong, happy exterior, I’m literally falling apart. I love Christmas, and want absolutely nothing to do with it this year.
Brittany
Oh my dear, sending all the love to you. I hope you start feeling better soon, I know all too well the falling apart feelings. Eventually things WILL start to look up though, this I know!
Claire
Running on Thanksgiving without a bear chasing you is both impressive and a bit mad, which is also impressive. Good luck!
Jessica
Confession: I ate roasted parmesan cauliflower over my stove last night. And it was worth it.
Shawna
i’m also running a 10K Turkey Trot this year (with the boyfriend) — yay for Thanksgiving races! i will be thinking of you now, even though you’re 3 hours behind me and i’ll probably be home napping when you’re running. 🙂 love the Patagonia vest!
Nicole
I think it’s hilarious that you tried catnip!! 🙂
And I understand wanting a table that offers a bit more privacy comfort. Hmmm, love Starbucks!
GiGi Eats Celebrities
I laugh for some reason when you say, “my woods”… PROBABLY because I totally see you getting a mobile TINY HOME, planting it in the woods…… And then you will be the QUEEN of the woods! LMFAO!
Brittany
Umm…but seriously. I would love that…
Angela
‘My woods’ are around the same temperature and although it’s not THAT cold, I’m just not ready for it. I miss summer!
Good Luck for your race 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I hate it when my table is taken at Starbucks. Luckily, may favourite one is currently undergoing renovations, which seems to have scared off the majority of people and only left us die-hard loyalists… meaning I get my table every.single.time
And I definitely notice that my stomach loves me a little more when I eat less fruit, but ugh… so hard!
Brittany
Avoiding fruit was hard for the first day, and somewhat the second, but the moment my energy improved, my skin started glowing, and my pants fit better I was ALL for it. I was eating at least six servings a day, sometimes MORE. Now I’m (choosing) to not have any, except for a piece here and there every few days. The best part? I’m eating BREADS and other carbs with MUCH more success and feel so much better!
Ellie
My confession today is that I spent the last two hours of my shift at work reading even when my boss told me I shouldn’t do that. I’m sorry but I had been making up things to do all day and he was leaving so I was done re-organizing the shirts and cleaning the same surfaces. On the Brightside today I took a bunch of lessons about the different brands we sell and now get 50-60% off at all their online stores! I wish I had money so I could buy some things!
Josh dV
Confession? You don’t really know what you are asking. I’ll go with the application I put in for another job that I have not told my boss or workers about.
On more relevant topics: Nice vest. Srsly. And way to go and that pace! I’ve been up in the foothills doing lots of climbs lately so my times have been slooooow. I’m tempted to hit the local Turkey Day 10k but…I”m cheap and I’d rather run the trails. I’ll take some pictures for you.
It’s cooler here in the desert as well. I find I’m wearing my buff a lot. I didn’t think I’d like it but I get so much use out of it. Maybe it’s just because I’m growing my hair out…
I’ve never tried catnip but I wouldn’t put it past me.
Good looking pics and I can’t wait to see your race results!
Brittany
OHHH congrats on applying for another job. Your secret is safe with me. I admit I’ve done the same, however I must stick it out until I’m done with school!
mylittletablespoon
TOTALLY here you on having your favorite tables at your favorite cafes. Totally makes or breaks your precious coffee shop time. If mine is taken I sit at one near enough so I can stalk/stare the person down until they move… then I pounce. Goodluck in the race!
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables
Haha I’ve been craving carbs on carbs too! I’m blaming the colder weather… And the deliciousness of potatoes 😉
P
This is actually the first time in three years I am NOT running a Thanksgiving race!! I’m actually taking a full week OFF running this week…which I haven’t done in ages, haha
Brittany
Enjoy it!! ❤

I wear bandaid to cover my nipples so they don’t chaff when running but that’s not the confession. I like to expose my bandaid covered nipples to my family because the facile expressions I get are priceless
Brittany
Baaahahaha.
literaturemistress
My confession: I’m totally using the cold weather as an excuse not to leave the house.
Lucie (@theglowwithin)
Your cute little face always makes me smile! And carbsssssss have been my friend lately too. Its way too cold here for fruit!
theglowwithin.com
Kat
bahaha I can totally see you eating catnip. Not surprised there! 😉
And yes to all the carbs ALWAYS. I’ve been tracking macros lately and have been shocked to find that although I do love my carbs, I actually am not eating enough of them! Its the fats I tend to go overboard on. Give me all the nuts!
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy
I never knew that about catnip. It sends my cats MENTAL!
liz
I love, love, love Thanksgiving themed races. I think you will have a great time! (I also LOVE your vest!)
Heather @ HeatherRunsFast.com
So what happened when you ate the catnip? Did you get super relaxed or semi high? what did it taste like? Is it weird that I care so much?! How do you eat your entire romaine bunch? I love it grilled! I’m just full of questions today! Have fun in your Thanksgiving race 🙂 Happy T Day pretty lady!
Brittany
I love that you want to know this much about my catnip experience. Honestly I don’t remember it doing much, I probably had too much and it wasn’t even fully digested. HAHA.
OHH my, grilled romaine, YUM. I just eat mine raw and use it as my spoon for things like quinoa, rice, beans, lentils and so on.

My confession is that my now 9wk old has slept through the night since 4wks and I hate that I feel like I should keep that fact on the down low from all the other new sleep deprived mums out there
Nicola
My second confession is that I just burnt my coffee while wiring that last comment. I may not be sleep deprived but multi tasking is apparently too much to ask still
Brittany
OH NO! Burned coffee is NO GOOD! I think you should be proud of your happy sleepy baby!
Nicola
Thanks Brit.
acbrandt
I also just signed up for my first race of 2015! Better late than never.
My confession is that I have already watched Home Alone and am currently watching National Lampoon’s Christmas vacation before Thanksgiving (shhhh) because I love cheesy Christmas movies so much!
Brittany
Ohhh girl, the Christmas movies were busted out in my house weeks ago. NO SHAME! Good luck at your race!

According to Ayurvedic school of thought, fruit should always be separated from other foods. two hrs after a meal or an hr before. The belief is that fruit digests much faster than other foods (especially melons which should be separate even from other fruits).
So if you eat say an apple with your sandwich then the apple which should have digested quickly, gets mixed in with the sandwich and then ferments while it is taking longer to digest.
I don’t follow Ayurveda strictly, but this feels better for me.
Brittany
Yup, yup, yup! I totally believe this, and it makes sense. HOWEVER, I noticed when I ate fruit even alone my heart rate elevated to an uncomfortable level, my body started to get inflammation in certain spots, and I felt anxious. I adore fruit, but just need a mini reset I think. I was eating far too much.
Jess @hellotofit
I like your vest 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!! My confession is that I justified a starchy bagel with cream cheese after a very very short run. And I’m okay with thaaaaat.
Brittany
I justify this…often….HA.
Sophie33
hahahahhaha,..You are a funny person! I like your vest & your lovely black cat! 🙂 x
Jade
Happy late Thanksgiving! It is so cold on the west side! it was 26 at 8am when I left for work. It already snowed on the east side, too. Yuck.
Jane
You crack me up, Brittany! Love the photo of you feeling all chilly. I have so many confessions to make that I can’t decide on one to share. 😉
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I couldn’t function without fruit. I literally have one to five servings a day. It’s my way of eating sunshine. Greens on the other hand, I’ve had to push, probably because it’s so damn cold and I want soup instead of a salad. To make everyone happy (me, the tomato, the body) I’m doing both.
I hope your Thanksgiving Day race was a success. I finally got clearance for exercise and “you know what” again so yesterday I went for a mile run, got a massage and also took care of business. Let’s just say I’m a happy lady today and headed to my first prenatal yoga class in a couple hours. I’m intrigued.
stateeats
No confession here but Thanksgiving runs are awesome. You can feel good about all the eating you’re going to do later. – Kat

I’m totally a creature of habit too!! I need MY favorite table, MY favorite chair, MY favorite parking spot — you name it! — at any public place or at my house. It was like that in college lecture halls too, and when the midterms came and when the students who never came to class sat in my seat… Boy was I mad! 😉 Ugggh it’s been 55° here and I can’t take it… I can’t imagine what your temperatures are like. Stupid Reynaud’s! 😉
Kayse
I hope your race was great! Happy belated thanksgiving !
Rach @ This Italian Family
Oooh I know what you mean about having your back exposed. Not a good feeling! So far that has yet to happen to me at our Sbux. But then it’s not super crowded during the hours I’m there most days.
Amber
I put catnip in my tea when I need some extra help falling asleep! Did you know that catnip is part of the mint family? I did a presentation on it back in college!
Brittany
I did!! Only after consumption. 🙂
