1. I have two more posts about my trip to Ohio, (sheesh Brittany, talk about draaagggging it out) but in an attempt to break up the monotony and ensure other recent happenings don’t get forgotten I’m throwing one of these in the mix.
2. Things like National Coffee Day. You didn’t think I could go without posting something about this did you? My favorite blonde haired coffee master and I got to do a two hour coffee tasting at work where we drank, ate, and laughed with customers.
3. Fall is my favorite time of year, and pumpkin is one of my favorite vegetables. After consuming an entire can I quickly realized I am not one of pumpkins favorite humans. I could have floated to the moon with all the air trapped in my belly.
4. I lost all my morals last week and ate the most amazing scone. It was the size of two, topped with frosting fit for a donut, and I ate the entire thing.
5. I also ate an entire jar of Costco sized PB, because clearly that was a smart thing to do. My skin disagrees, and thanks to the new planets discovered by NASA on my face I won’t be eating nuts for a bit. The body doesn’t lie folks, skin rebellion is REAL!
6. Solo hiking to soak up the change in season.
7. I’m using the coin counter app again to keep track of the change I find. I want to see how long it takes me to pay off my new running shoes. Most of the $$ I find is while running, so it feels like the right thing to do.
8. I.AM.SO.OBSESSED.WITH.MULBERRIES.
9. I’m going to climb Mount St. Helens on October 17th and I am so excited.
10. 100 mile September didn’t happen. Right before my trip to Ohio I lost all desire to run so I skipped a day. While in Ohio I ran 12 happy and free miles, but when I returned home the motivation escaped me again. I honored my lack of motivation and 100 miles turned into something like 75 miles. Not at all upset about it.
With that said, I stayed true to my goal of trying to break into the 8 min mile range. I’ve never run for speed, and tend to coast in my comfort zone, but I decided it was time to push my boundaries a bit and I successfully ran 3.5 miles at an 8:41 pace.
Boom.
Q: What’s your confession?

Lol… Peanut butter makes me break out too! I’ve never quite described it like you did but… I’ll keep that one in my back pocket … It made me laugh out loud!
I can’t wait to see your pics of mt St. Helens !
Happy Sunday, you NUT!
Brittany
🙂 ❤
PR-Bike
Funny, I’ve been meaning to send you a note to recommend hiking Mt St Helens. It is fantastic. Tough, but fantastic. I HIGHLY recommend some gaiters. Enjoy.
Brittany
Awesome!! I hope I don’t pass out, I’m not in hiking shape right now. HA.
Amy
I love these confession posts! But seeing as I say that every time you publish one… You probably knew that already. 😉 I love hearing about your coffee tastings! I’ve finally been able to start drinking coffee again — hallelujah!! — and if I live any closer, I would totally drive just to hang out with you for one of them. They sound like so much fun!
Heather @ HeatherRunsFast.com
My fave post! If eating that scone is your idea of losing your morals, then I’d say you’re good to go 😉 That thing looks DIVINE. I know what you mean about the planet face- that’s me bc of all the sweets people keep bring bc I’m “supposed to eat for two”, please. I can just never say no, haha- guess I’m moral-less like you 😉 So excited about your hike!!! Have so much fun! An dboom shakalaka you KILLED that under 9 min pace.
Hannah
I’ve been SO out of the loop that for a second I was like “NASA discovered new planets??”. Then I read on lol.
B
That scone looks AMAZING! I can see why you caved and had one!
Diane @ Life of Di.
1) Look forward to reading more Ohio posts! 4) THAT SCONE! Oh my word- looks SO good! 5) I finally commited to not buying nut butter until the first of the year. I am allowed to buy the pre-packaged Justin’s Almond Butter but nothing more. I can’t keep denying that I have a problem… 😉 7) Thanks for sharing the coin counter app. I totally need to download this.
Brittany
I have finally accepted…PB is no longer allowed in my house. EVER. Like…ever. It is hands down my top “binge” food, and I say that in the best way possible. I just can’t stop, thus it no longer has a place in my house. Almond butter I’m better with, but sometimes I need to just say NO NO NO to all the nuts. Like right now. HA. You will forever understand my struggles.
Allie Zottola
That scone looks so, so good! I would have ate the whole thing, too! I love the coin counter app idea! I may need to download it ;). I wish I could have drank coffee with you on National Coffee Day! I always love your coffee themed posts :). I keep meaning to stop by Starbucks to pick up a bag of Anniversary Blend, one of my faves!
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables
Haha I confess that today I had potatoes for breakfast and pretzels and pizza for lunch. Carbs much? 😉 hehe
Brittany
GIRRRRLLL I am with you on this. I am ALL about the carbs today…had a HUGE bowl of oats with all the fruit this morning, potatoes and ALL the fruit (again) for lunch, and all I wanted just now for dinner….was more oats. So I made more oats. HAHA.
Ellie
I spent $12 on a piece of cake and a donut. The cake was delicious, but to donut..oh man it was the BEST donut I’ve ever had! Chocolate peanut butter from a bakery called Vegan Treats. It was PERFECT road trip food on the way home from the DC vegfest. I may have also stood in line for two hours to get those as well 🙂
Brittany
AHH someone left a comment on one of my posts last month about Vegan Treats! I Googled it and now want to go SO BAD! I would have spent $12 and then some…
Lindsay @ A Runnaroundd Life
Gosh, your hikes look magical. Hope to be there one day!
Food, Booze, & Baggage
That scone looks tasty!! I just bought a package of mulberries the other day for the first time. I read they are suppose to be good for immunity 🙂 They are so much sweeter than expected.
Brittany
I love the squishy texture of them! They are just so tasty.
Lucie (@theglowwithin)
Haha Brit! I knew there would be a mention of Nation Coffee day from you somewhere on your blog before I logged on, and I was right. And also, glad Im not the only one obsessed with dried mulberries! I just ordered a massive bag from Amazon costing £15 ($23) and I swear theyll only last be about a week….ever tried them in salads with hummus? ITS THE BEST THINGS EVER.
Brittany
I’m about to order some online because only small bags are found in store, and I had to drive like 2 hrs away to find some!! Must try them with hummus salad!
allisonfiorini
I want all of the food in this post. Seriously, you post THE BEST food pictures!!!
Brittany
You are too kind my friend. 🙂
Jess @hellotofit
I’ve been upping the starch intake lately, which is not ideal, buuuuuuut.
I LOVE the Pike Place Roast. I’ve been brewing a cup every morning, and it might be my favorite one so far.
kathy at more coffee, less talky
holy crap that lake by the mountain!!! so gorgeous. you are so lucky to be able to hike these incredible mountains close to home!
itsmejenlovett
Finding money is my faaaavorite! I have a mason jar of only coins I find on the ground on my runs. One day I hope to save up enough for it to pay for a race entry fee, and I will dedicate that race to my found round monies. It’s amazing how quickly it adds up!
Brittany
I LOVE that idea!!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Skin issues are a PITA to figure out! I’m currently dealing with something that seems totally random, as it really follow any pattern based on what I eat. I’m at the point now where I’m starting to think I’m allergic to my hair or something 😛 And my Bux didn’t do anything special for National Coffee Day — I feel cheated.
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy
That scone totally looks worth losing all your morals over! I am kind of happy I don’t have a whole foods near me – I would buy so much from there.
Angela
That scone!! Yum!!
whostardis
that hike looks gorgeous!!! way to go breaking into the 8min/mile mark, thats my goal one day 🙂
Kat
I am going to have dreams about that scone. I just moved from a place where a Whole Foods was literally across the street to a place where there is no Whole Foods, and then you go and post this masterpiece. I think Im going to cry now.
runsonespresso
That scone looks delicious! I guess it’s a good thing I can’t eat gluten sometimes. LOL
Brittany
Yes, it really is a blessing for you haha. When I eat too much wheat protein in general I swell up like a blow fish. It’s a once in a blue moon treat for me. 🙂
Amy @ A Desert Girl
Is it weird that I thought of you on National Coffee Day? Brittany, coffee – the words are synonymous in my mind. 🙂 That scone looks amazing.
Brittany
I laaaveee that you think of me. ❤
Jade
That scone looks amazing. I would have caved and eaten the whole thing, too
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say maybe the issues isn’t the PB and pumpkin, but the eating of the entire jars/cans in such a short period. Although that scone…totally worth it.
I bet you pay those kicks off in no time.
Also, those views on your hike. Da-Yum.
Brittany
Get your fine fanny to my neck of the woods and we will conquer mountains like this. I promise I won’t eat cans of pumpkin and stand up wind.

My confession? So many options here unfortunately…. I’ll stick with this I guess. I love and enjoy my runs and I’m decently quick, but secretly I wish I were much faster. I might tought the merits of casually loping through the terrain, but inside my heart of hearts I want to be tearing through the turf like Killian.
Grats on the run time. Seriously good work.
Brittany
Killian is an exception to the rules of life. HA. I’d love to shake his hand someday, along with Scott Jurek.
familyrulesbyplainjane
We may both have a squash addiction. Pumpkin is good but Kabocha is my current guilty pleasure. I thoughtfully bought a huge one “for my family” and roasted the pieces covered in coconut oil and a little salt. It was such a shame (cough) that nobody wanted to eat it except me. I’ll join you up there by the moon….
Brittany
Oh my, that tray of roasted goodness would have been gone much too quick around me. Glad I’ll have company at the moon. 😉
Leslie @ TriathleteTreats
That scone looks amazing!!
Confession: I drove to work today instead of riding my bike!
sweatyandfit
haha i love this post! firstly – i need that scone in my life!! Did i see you got it from Whole Foods?!? that hike looks amazing. wish i could be out in nature right now. My confession is that i convinced myself i deserved a new wallet for like 3 days and finally bought one. and spent probably wayyy too much on it. but its cute. and apparently i deserve it.
Brittany
I say you deserved it. Case closed.
Yes I sure did get that masterpiece at Whole Foods, but it wasn’t AT ALL good for the waistline. HA.
Lisa @ Lisa the Vegetarian
That scone looks too delicious – frosting is my weakness!
Brittany
Me too, me too, ME TOO! When I eat cake, I want the corner piece with ALL THE FROSTING!
Tania // Run to Radiance
GIRL. That scone looks and sounds amazing. 100% worth it!!!! And yay for national coffee day and hiking!
mylittletablespoon
Are you a Starbucks partner? I just quit working there last month after 2 years. Don’t regret it, but I surrrrreee do miss the free coffee! And dear lord that scone was made for the gods! No morals here – full steam ahead I say! I’m so jealous of your hikes. I’m a huge nature lover/hiker/camper and have been finding myself looking up the “top hikes” and “most beautiful national parks” more and more recently. I live in a city now but have always grown up in small towns in the country.. that’ll always be where my heart is.
Brittany
I sure am! I’ve been a partner for about 2.5 years. The free coffee is something I will FOREVER miss when I move onto my next adventure in life.

Hi! Thanks for liking my post Miles for a Smile! I am reading your blog and it is really interesting! I wonder how those Vibram five fingers serving you? I am thinking to buy one so your experience will be appreciated.
Best of luck!
Rach @ This Italian Family
8:41 pace! You go, girl! I don’t run much anymore, but even when I used to run a lot, I was never a speedy runner. And I never tried to make myself faster, haha! So I’m always impressed with speedy people! Or you know, people who put more effort into running than I did. 😉
Atheria
Speaking of running, look what was on the news this a.m. 🙂 I wonder if you could fail a drug test because of running? LOL – http://www.chicagotribune.com/lifestyles/health/ct-runners-high-marijuana-high-science-20151008-story.html I did notice my chronic pain was a bit lower last night after running for the second time.
Kayse
Ohhhhh your solo hike pictures! Swooooon!
Lauren Rice (@heyricecake)
75 miles is still pretty amazing! Where did you do you solo hike? Looks awesome!
Brittany
This one was at Rattlesnake Ridge in North Bend. Quick and easy solo hike, and one of the safer solo hikes because there are ALWAYS people there. Sometimes too many. Don’t go on a weekend.
kadeecramer
Oh my goodness that water! That scone!! Props for your 8 min miles! 😀 I am forever jealous of all your hikes.
