Running – Anyone notice minimal run talk around these parts lately? That’s because this is what my Garmin looks like right meow…
Dead battery. It’s been dead for….a while. I haven’t charged it because I haven’t wanted to use it. Instead, I’ve been running 2-3 milers on my treadmill every few days.
I’m happy to report that my semi running break inspired me to look for my next race, and I’m all signed up for this St.Paddy’s Day Run in March. Every year I tell myself I won’t run a race between Jan-March because it’s SO COLD before hand, but every year I do. LOCAL runners: SIGN UP NOW before a price increase!
Work – Work is fantastic, as per usual. Starbucks just opened the most gorgeous roasting plant I have ever seen. I haven’t seen it live yet, but am planning a trip in January with a few fellow coworkers. Click the photo below for a quick article.
I’m almost embarrassed (but not really) to admit how obsessed I am with this place. I cannot wait to see it. Once I arrive I will force them to hire me. I’m so thankful to work near the birthplace of this coffee company.
It’s not easy to describe, but Starbucks is different in Washington, more specific Starbucks is different the closer you get to Seattle. There’s a sense of pride in the product that I sadly don’t see when I travel to Starbucks locations in other states. Basically what I’m saying is if you have a sour impression about Starbucks, you must get to Seattle and experience the passion and love that goes into each and every cup.
Let me know when you’re here, and I’ll meet you for a tasting. 🙂
Food – Not much food talk around here lately either. That’s not because I haven’t been eating, but simply because I’ve been eating the same quick and easy things all day erryday. School sucks the joy out of everything.
Lots of pumpkin, lots of vegetables, lots of bananas, lots of almond butter, and too many handfuls of these chocolate covered crack cluster nuts. Say that 5x fast.
Q: Give me an update, I’ve been semi MIA in blogland lately.

Those almonds look dangerous 🙂
SO dangerous, and so delicious!
Even on your off days you crack me up!
i think i’m going to make it a personal goal to come run a race with you next year. also, have you read Wild? i’m reading through and i think of you every time the author comments that she ‘climbed into a cloud.’
No, I really REALLY need to read that book. I can’t wait for the movie too ha.

Those chocolate salted almonds. Oh wow.
I always share your Starbucks insider info blog posts with Kevin because he is obsessed with coffee, Starbucks being his favorite.
It’s cute how excited you get over your job/company! I think it’s great!
D’aaaww thanks love! 🙂

I can’t help but feel a little pull to put in an application to my local Starbucks whenever I hear you talk about it 😛 I’ve actually always secretly wanted to work at one, so I have no idea why I never got around to it. And lots of bananas in my life lately, too. Bananas and frozen fruit… which I usually have to eat by the fireplace 😆
Omg the roastery looks SO neat, right? I’m visiting a friend in Seattle in February, and she’s a former partner, so we’ll have to sneak in a trip while I’m there. Can’t wait!
Aww poor Garmin. Good job pounding it out on the dreadmill though! haha. I want Costco to do me dirty like that too. I applied at Sbux once. Needless to say they didn’t hire me and I was sad.

Aww, I want to come visit your Starbucks sometime! I’ll have a cup of joe with extra love sprinkled on top! 🙂
Starbucks in Seattle sounds so much better than other locations around the country…it is not surprising to me at all! I guess it’s because it’s easier to make things work exactly how you want them to if working from home base.
“School sucks the joy out of everything.” — Truer words have never been spoken. Yesterday, I had leftover pizza for breakfast before heading to the computer lab, coffee and gingerbread loaf from starbucks for lunch, and didn’t get home until 9pm for dinner.
This comment made me laugh, the struggle is so very real.
When I worked for Starbucks I got to spend a month training in a store very close to Pike Place Market store and then three shifts in Pike Place. I loved it!!!
Damn you Costco and your abundant amount of sweet treats!
Now I’m going to have to hunt these down, because the only think I love more than plain chocolate, is chocolate covered almonds!
I cannot stop staring at those chocolate salted almonds !!! Willpower Ingrid willpower 🙂
My birthday is St. Paddy’s Day so it’s like your running a half in my honor. I feel so special now, and perhaps I’m a wee bit selfish. I wish I could run it with you. Hell, I wish I could run that far. Maybe one day. Never say never. 🙂
I don’t think I know anyone else who is as happy in their job as you are!!! Your happiness is contagious! 🙂
I went to Starbucks today! It was the first time I had been there in about three years. I have GREAT news to report! The service was amazing and nice (I didn’t feel like I was talking to a hipster snob) and the Christmas blend tasted great! We had actually gone to Dunkin’ Donuts earlier in the day and Starbucks was so much better! Cheers! I might believe some of the hype now…
YAY! Best comment.
I wondered where you were! Oh, stop posting those yummy foods! You sound so happy. One day you’ll have to visit my part of the world and I take you on a walk. I’m sure we’d have a laugh. I can’t guarantee the coffee will be good though! More like instant with a thermos of hot water…I know, shameful! You may need to bring a portable filter in your backpack. 🙂
If we were out exploring, a thermos with instant coffee (I’d probably pack some Starbucks VIA, HA) would be PERFECT!! It sounds absolutely magical.

I love how much you love starbucks. My friends hate me go on and on about it- (I’m obsessed with it because I think it’s cool to walk around with those cups AND the prices compared to here).
::fingers in ears:: Lalala…I can’t hear anything about those chocolate nuts.
Change of Pace
Those almonds look phenomenal!
Yay for a race sign-up! (And I saw you got in a hike yesterday- that’s awesome!)
I haven’t used my Garmin on a run since February. It’s been great!
di @ life of di.
When Marty and I were in Seattle I just had to go to the original Starbucks 🙂 I swear the coffee tasted different there. So so good! It just seemed much more fresh? Delicious coffee remains one of the many reasons I’d love to live in the Pacific Northwest.
I’ve had a stressful week so far (it’s only Tuesday??) but it’s so nice to read your posts; helps me de-stress a bit! I’ve never been to Seattle, but I heard the coffee there is amazing!!
Oh no!! I’m sorry you’ve had a stressful week, hang in there it’s (kinda, but not really) almost Friday!! 🙂
Haha thank you! Extreme optimism, I like it!
i need to come visit and go to that beautiful coffee haven of a roasting plant with you! and we can say “chocolate covered crack cluster nuts” til we’re crying laughing. and then go hiking to burn off some of that chocolate covered whateveritwas. xo

Oh my gosh I love chocolate salted almonds!! They are like crack! That roasting plant does look gorgeous! I think it is so wonderful that you love your job so much…too many people bitch and complain everyday how much they hate their job instead of being grateful! I love your attitude and I bet it’s wonderful to receive a cup of coffee from you!!
Heather @ HeatherRunsFast.com
I can’t WAIT for they day I get to meet you for a coffee tasting! Also, I want some of that crack. I meannnnn chocolate covered crack cluster nuts.
My food is always boring because I’m so busy all the time I just eat the same things every day. Is your Garmin ok or just needs some charging? I have anxiety over technology after two computers died on me within a year.
It just needs to be charged!! 🙂
I admire your ability to run on the treadmill — I hate it with a fiery passion.
Oh girl, I hate it too. It takes A LOT, which is why I usually don’t do anymore more than a measly 3 miles. HA.

One of these days…one of these days – I’m meeting your for a tasting!
Speaking of meeting. You need to save the date: September 24. And save your pennies for an airline ticket to Salt Lake City. That’s the day of the inaugural 5k run in honor of my brother! Proceeds go to brain cancer research. You gotta come!
Do I get to stay with you and have you make me one of your famous breakfasts for pre race fuel!?!?! That sounds like a dream come true.
An Unrefined Vegan
Pancakes or waffles??
WAFFLES…with strawberries…and coconut whip!
I am totally down for a trip to Seattle! I’ve never been to the PNW but it’s an area I’ve been wanting to explore, with all the coffee and amazing vegan restaurants.
Those almonds look incredible and dangerous! I recently rediscovered maple pecans in the WF bulk bins and I don’t think I can stop eating them any time soon.

I’d give you an update but YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY EVERY SINGLE LITTLE DETAIL OF MY LIFE – whether you like it or not….. And I have a feeling right now, YOU DONT LOL!!!!!!
I always love your updates. You are my other half so without updates I’m like….half empty?
GiGi Eats Celebrities
OMG you’re pessimistic!

Ohhhhh! Sad to hear about your Garmin! Maybe she needs a rest over winter too? hehe! And so cool that you live near the birthplace of Starbucks! Ive always been curious about Seattle, Its defiantly a place Id love to visit!
The luxury of a treadmill! I’m still fighting the cold in Holland. No snow yet, but we’ve seen ice… Layers are my friend!
So we truly are long lost roomies and sisters. I’ve taken a serious break from running and only hit 2-3 miles on the treadmill per week. I think it’s the winter blues. Something about this 20 degree weather before the real winter hits is making me a brittle old woman. My solution- drink coffee with you while noming on some delicious Starbucks scones. Warmed. In one of the little sofa seats. Deal?
UMM DOUBLE deal. That sounds like the most magical scenario.
Choc Chip Uru
Aaah I hate treadmills, I feel like a robot 😛 Kudos to you for that determination!
Choc Chip Uru
Gosh, I love Starbucks! I haven’t had it in awhile, so I think I’m due to enjoy a coffee soon! 🙂

AHAHAHA at first I was like uhhh what is this….then…I saw the beauty.
I just found your blog and love it! I wished I would have known about it earlier, I was in Seattle in August 🙂
I’ll be in the Mt St Helens area in August. If you happen to be nearby, I’ll treat for coffee. 🙂
What a kind gesture!!
