1. Pumpkins. Orange. Brown. Leaves. Scarecrows. Sweet Potatoes. Baked Apples. Yellow.
FALL, FALL, FALL.
2. I haven’t gone hiking in almost three weeks. WHAAAAT!?
3. I have been drinking coffee in mugs made for the mountains though.
4. Instead I’ve been running, and walking, and…working. T-minus 17 days until half time.
5. I went to visit a friend last weekend and she told me she signed up for her first 5K. After I expressed pure joy by running up the side of a building, she asked if we could go practice run.
UHH yes!? I didn’t even care that I wasn’t wearing proper shoes.
I don’t advise running 3miles in TEVA’s.
6. I’ve been doing 90% of my half marathon training in my Vibram Five Fingers. I’ve had the same pair for over five years, and they are fantastic.
7. This made me insanely excited for Thanksgiving. It also made me wonder why I don’t have something like a sloth or wildebeest as my mailbox. I should rectify this.
8. I went an entire week without treats. I plan to try a new experiment where I only have treats once a week, but if you see me on the news it’s because mentally I didn’t make it.
9. I’m running out of things to share, so I will mention how delightful my first official fall weather run was. I went out for 5 mi, but ended up running 8 mi. Crisp air and yellow leaves are magical.
10. I haven’t worn deodorant (and by this I mean I haven’t slapped baking soda under my arms because this is what I do for “deodorant”) in two weeks. I hope I haven’t been walking around with a green aura spewing from my body. I only had to reshower once. Win.
Q: What’s your confession?

kathy@vodka and soda
confession: i don’t own deodorant whaaaaat? i don’t sweat much and when i do, i don’t smell. or at least that’s what i tell myself.
We are soul mates I tell ya.
wait what? you can just use baking soda as deo???? I’ve seen recipes with coconut oil and baking soda and other stuff but didn’t realize you could JUST use baking soda?!!
I started making my own deodorant a few years ago using coconut oil, baking soda, corn starch and an essential oil (for scent), but over time realized the main component in this mixture that I needed was the baking soda. As an odor eater I’ve found that this is all I need to combat any odor that comes from under my arms, and it works to keep me relatively dry too. I’d definitely give it a try if you’re intrigued!

I love that you went out to run 5 miles and just happened to go 8. Admirable to someone like me who huffs and puffs like the big bad wolf trying to make it 2 miles.
Hahaha I am the same way! 2 miles feels like a miracle!
A week without treats?! i dont- i cant- wait what? (sorry my brain cant process such a concept bc i depend on treats at leeeast once a day. usually twice or more 🙂 ) but in all seriousness thats an awesome challenge! 🙂 My confession is i sometimes count dark chocolate and red wine as dinner 😀
I know…the only thing that’s kept me going is my pants fitting better. It’s like a magical mindf*ck.
I went for my first run in over a month this week. I made it 3 whole miles with a short walk session in there because I was dying. I also think I was so excited to be out there again I started with a pace of over eager amazon woman. Hence, the dying part in 15 minutes. Ha.
No deodorant. You really are a hippie woman. Please tell me you shave. 😉
…..what if I told you I’ve been known to go a solid week (and some change) without shaving my pits. What if I told you I also publicly have worn tank tops during these times. I will say I don’t tend to do this often, but it’s been known to happen.
I’d say you could be besties with my mother.
That coffee mug is AWESOME! 🙂
The Zen Kat
Please tell me how you went a week sans treats!! I’m so impressed. And yes, if I tried that, I’d definitely be on the news. lol
Food, Booze, & Baggage
3 weeks without hiking for you SEEMS so long for you 🙂 You are such a good friend!!
Kate @ Another Clean Slate
Oh yah- just a quick 8 miles. Craziness! I am working towards a decent 5k.
A 5k is a great goal to reach!! Being able to run a solid 3 miles straight is an excellent baseline for running, not many people can do that!
I WISH I could just use something so simple for deodorant. I was cursed with man-sweat, so I have to use some pretty strong stuff. (Thankfully it’s basically unscented, or else I’d end up smelling like a man… because the pretty lady bottles of deodorant do absolutely nothing for me). Ugh!!
So I guess that’s my confession right there… Ha, ha!!
And goodness, I need to make a goal of just eating one treat a week! This pregnancy is killing me when it comes to that. Ha, ha. I used to have such will-power, and I plan to be a lot more regimented once the baby comes. But for now, I’m lucky if I just have one treat a day. 😉
That’s confession # 2. Ha, ha!!
And I LOVE fall and am so excited about the autumn colors and flavors!!!! 🙂
When I was in junior high I had the WORST sweaty armpits. It was so bad I ended up getting this chemical to put on them so that I wouldn’t sweat. I would never use this now, but it was necessary for my embarrassment when I was younger! Thankfully my body seems to have balanced itself out and I no longer need intense deodorants. If I notice that I smell bad, I just shower!! The baking soda seems to take care of the rest.

Confession: I can’t go an hour without treats so you kind of inspire me 😛

Bahahaha Uru! That was funny!

Yay fall! The perfect running weather 🙂
Oh my lanta, is it crazy that I love your mug so much I want to paypal you money to send me one?! haha, it’s so unique! Sending you love and good vibes lady!
HA, not crazy at all!! I just went to their website to see about the merchandise they sell, but they are updating the site and don’t have the mugs listed. I actually want one myself as this one in the photo isn’t mine!! If I see them up and running again I’ll send you the link!
Don’t you just love when your friends catch the running bug? Three weeks is too long not to hike, missy! And one week is too long not to have sweets… but I do congratulate you on your discipline! Maybe I should try the no deodorant thing… seems like mine doesn’t work really well anyways.
Today is the first shower I took in three bagel shifts…I’ve just been really busy and unmotivated to clean myself. Nothing a little Febreeze wont fix…
Ooo, you got me so excited for fall! I’m hoping to take the fam on a hike this weekend to see the fall leaves. It might be rainy though, dang it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it won’t be! I can’t believe you ran 3 miles in Tevas. You go girl!
Khushboo Thadani (@KhushbooThadani)
A week without treats?? More power to you girl! Although I bet you’re going to enjoy so much more now so that’s something to look forward to :D! My confession for the day is that I am so excited to be taking the week off from exercise next week- I love to work out but my body is begging for a rest!
the vegan 8
Ok, who are you? A week without treats and 3 weeks without hiking?! IS this still Brittany’s blog? LOL! You better get to hiking and eating some cupcakes woman!!
RIGHT!? Not to say I haven’t been tempted by all your yummy looking treats though.
Lucie Elizabeth (@CollectingLight)
This post is full of my favourite colours and makes my heart sing with autumnal joyyyyyyy! Confession: Ive been drinking my coffee in mouton sized mugs too (its the best and only way!)
That mailbox!!! I totally agree that you should make yours a sloth or wildebeest… those are equally good options 🙂 And good for you for being able to ditch deodorant. I tried using natural stuff for awhile (baking soda, coconut oil, Green Beaver, etc), but I was just way too paranoid that it wasn’t working! It probably was…no one was telling me otherwise haha. Also, I know I said it on Instagram already, but I LOVE that mug!
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy
Confession: I am literally obsessed with Autumn. Everything about it!
Lauren @ ihadabiglunch
Confession: I just found out most people wear underwear when they wear running tights/crops. I do not…..is that gross? I had NO idea!
PPSHH, underwear is for sissies. I HATE wearing underwear when I run, or spin, or hike, or…walk around at home. HAHA. I just honestly hate it all together. Whoops.
Whitney @ To Live & Diet in L.A.
Where can I get that turkey mailbox?! Score.
My confession: I’ve worn the sweater everyday this week without washing it. It’s just so soft…
I am impressed by your Teva running ability! I don’t advise running in flats not designed for running either 😛
Arman @ thebigmansworld
I knew we were brothers. You’re just the weird one who doesn’t like meat.
Every family needs a black sheep right?
wildebeest mailbox? too funny, and a definite conversation starter whenever some visits the house. and girl? a week without treats? time to get yourself into the kitchen and whip up some of those delicious protein ball/brownie/other types of deliciousness that always make me swoon.
Starting tomorrow I’m going until Halloween without treats as part of a tumblr challenge. We’ll see how I do because that sounds really hard and I’ve never actually done it. I feel like I’m succeeding right now but then I remembered I had 2 cookies and a slice of cheesecake yesterday…
That is such a cool mailbox. I wish mailboxes were still a thing, but they’re all getting slowly replaced by those big boxes for whole blocks.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Fall, fall, FALL! I know, right?! So freaking excited. OH! And I did what you suggested and tried the Komodo blend from Bux with dates and AB. Mind.BLOWN. Can you come live with me and give me coffee suggestions all the time? I need someone to break me away from my go-to Pike.
AHH this comment makes me sososo happy!! I’m so jazzed you loved it!
Barbara Bamber | justasmidgen
So many confessions but the only one that truly has me worried is that you’re only having treats once a week!!?? How do you do it? I’m crazy addicted to anything with sugar in it.. including PSL!
I know, it’s crazy!! The fact that my pants are fitting amazingly keeps me going. 😉

So, so very excited for fall. Just with the afternoon temperatures would GET THE MESSAGE!
Christina Does It All
YAY you’ve made me even more excited for fall!!! You are also such a champ for running in those shoes. Also I need that turkey mailbox.
Rach @ This Italian Family
I am thinking that you definitely need to invest in a sloth mailbox! I just keep seeing “Sid” from Ice Age as a mailbox… hilarious! Though the turkey is pretty great too! As would be a wildebeast. 🙂
Davida @The Healthy Maven
oh dear lord. I’m asking Gigi if you stink. But let’s get real, you probably smell like coffee in which case let’s be best friends.
running in Tevas! you’re such a hippie and i love itttttt. glad the running is going so well!
