Posted at 7:13 AM by Brittany, on April 16, 2014

Hi, my name is Brittany, and I am 25 going on 12.

    20140406-182418

When I first heard about the poo poo point trail, I wanted to hike it simply because of the name. I knew nothing about this hike other than the fact that it had “poo” in its title.

    20140406-182608

Much to my surprise, this was not only a legit climb, but it had one of the best vantage points of any of the hikes I’ve done. Yeah, that’s a big deal. The journey to the top had some photo worthy scenery as well. I was very impressed with this trail!

    20140406-182427

    20140406-182640

    20140406-182438

I was able to wrangle a fellow nature lover along for the ride. This meant I was finally able to see what I look like in my natural habitat – aka taking photos of nature.

    20140406-182532

    So serious.

Round trip this hike was about 7.5-8 miles, and the vegan scone I had tucked safely in my Camelbak kept me moving on the way up. Despite my heart feeling like it was going to burst a few times, I didn’t dare stop moving.

    20140406-182447

I lasted all of 30 seconds at the top for a photo before digging into my scone.

    20140406-18255020140406-182541

    20140406-182857

Remember that time I ventured to Seattle and missed my chance for a vegan scone? I made sure to get one this time…and nearly bought 10 things. SWOON. Made my world. Ironically, I also got a free piece of chocolate from the same chocolate shop I wandered into after missing out on my scone last time. Originally $2.25 for the chocolate, I got fo free.

Good things come to those who wait.

Q: Anyone else chuckle at the name of this trail….please tell me I’m not alone.

    b

That scone looks amazing. My husband would have been all over the name of that trial…thank goodness we don’t live on the west coast…I’m sure we would be hiking there just so he could make jokes about it later 🙂

why is it named this????? i have expected you to take a poo poo at some point during this hike just because of the name…. but i am glad you acted like a lady and didn’t do that. that is weird that i even expected that.

THE VIEW. HOLY COW. That looks amazing!!! I think you should start an album of all the places you have hiked. And like jot down a brief note about it and then when you are like in your 60s, you can look back and it’ll be amazing to see all the places your feet have carried you.

That scone. That scone looks amazing. I would need that too if I hiked 8 miles! You crazy lady! But beautiful, fit, one-with-nature crazy lady 🙂

ps I LOVE YOUR JACKET. is this the new one you bought??/

Sometimes I don’t act much like a lady, and for the I don’t blame you for having the poo poo thought. Perhaps I shouldn’t admit to that over the internet. HAHA. Whateverrrr. I have been getting better with my classy ways though. 😉

I love the album idea. Maybe I could make it into a book and SELL it like Drew Barrymore did with her “I see hearts in nature” book..or something like that.

This is not a new jacket, but I have only worn it like 6 times! I love it too…it’s a little boys jacket. That sounds way worse than it is I promise. I should model my new jacket because that’s what bloggers do…baha.

Ha I would laugh too, but it sure does look like a beautiful trail. I love when trees become covered in moss. I’m so excited to go hiking in the gorge this summer! I haven’t been able to go as my weekends have been work or school related all semester.

The man is a friend, one I wrangled into exploration. A scruffy dog that was shaped like a unicorn took our photo, aka a couple at the top. Hikers/runners are friendly people remember? I am a pro at asking strangers to take my photo. HA.

That’s such an awesome name for the trail! I totally would’ve hiked it with my dad, and even though he’s like a speedy mountain goat and goes 10x faster than me (no exaggeration), it still would’ve been super fun. Especially if I got a sweet scone reward at the top! 😉 So happy that you’re hiking a lot again; being in nature sounds like it’s your favorite thing to do!

I’m sure that Poo Poo Point gets much more traffic than it deserves due to it’s name. What is the history behind the name? Does it mean something else in another language? Or does it truly mean poop?

Why in the world would somebody name it “poo poo”, but I have to admit that I would totally be intrigued to hike it too because of the name, lol! Those pics are awesome and what a cute photo of you and the hiker. A side note: you don’t get nervous hiking by yourself all the time?? I always have at least one person with me when I go hiking, this adventure was with that strapping young man in the photo above. I search high and low for willing participants to drag with me on these adventures! 🙂

I feel like a jerk asking, but do you have a circular polarizer for your camera? You should get one! I think it will help cut out some of the extreme whites in some of the photos.

Anywho! What a beauty hike! 8 Miles is a doozy.. good thing you brought that scone. Score for free chocolate!! I feel like good things like that always happen to you – as they should! I am so ravenous lately that it made me extremely hungry (the pic of the scone). Extremely. It’s bad Britt, most of the time I get so hungry at work that I could probably eat my foot.
