Hi, my name is Brittany, and I am 25 going on 12.
When I first heard about the poo poo point trail, I wanted to hike it simply because of the name. I knew nothing about this hike other than the fact that it had “poo” in its title.
Much to my surprise, this was not only a legit climb, but it had one of the best vantage points of any of the hikes I’ve done. Yeah, that’s a big deal. The journey to the top had some photo worthy scenery as well. I was very impressed with this trail!
I was able to wrangle a fellow nature lover along for the ride. This meant I was finally able to see what I look like in my natural habitat – aka taking photos of nature.
Round trip this hike was about 7.5-8 miles, and the vegan scone I had tucked safely in my Camelbak kept me moving on the way up. Despite my heart feeling like it was going to burst a few times, I didn’t dare stop moving.
I lasted all of 30 seconds at the top for a photo before digging into my scone.
Remember that time I ventured to Seattle and missed my chance for a vegan scone? I made sure to get one this time…and nearly bought 10 things. SWOON. Made my world. Ironically, I also got a free piece of chocolate from the same chocolate shop I wandered into after missing out on my scone last time. Originally $2.25 for the chocolate, I got fo free.
Good things come to those who wait.
Q: Anyone else chuckle at the name of this trail….please tell me I’m not alone.

Beautiful pictures – and I think I’m going on 12 too (or even 10…) my sense of humor is so fifth grade!
Food, Booze, & Baggage
That scone looks amazing. My husband would have been all over the name of that trial…thank goodness we don’t live on the west coast…I’m sure we would be hiking there just so he could make jokes about it later 🙂
why is it named this????? i have expected you to take a poo poo at some point during this hike just because of the name…. but i am glad you acted like a lady and didn’t do that. that is weird that i even expected that.
THE VIEW. HOLY COW. That looks amazing!!! I think you should start an album of all the places you have hiked. And like jot down a brief note about it and then when you are like in your 60s, you can look back and it’ll be amazing to see all the places your feet have carried you.
That scone. That scone looks amazing. I would need that too if I hiked 8 miles! You crazy lady! But beautiful, fit, one-with-nature crazy lady 🙂
ps I LOVE YOUR JACKET. is this the new one you bought??/
Sometimes I don’t act much like a lady, and for the I don’t blame you for having the poo poo thought. Perhaps I shouldn’t admit to that over the internet. HAHA. Whateverrrr. I have been getting better with my classy ways though. 😉
I love the album idea. Maybe I could make it into a book and SELL it like Drew Barrymore did with her “I see hearts in nature” book..or something like that.
This is not a new jacket, but I have only worn it like 6 times! I love it too…it’s a little boys jacket. That sounds way worse than it is I promise. I should model my new jacket because that’s what bloggers do…baha.
You are the hiking queen. Seriously, next time we hang out (and there WILL be a next time…) we are going hiking and hopefully find a place with gorgeous views like that. Because they really are stunning.

Ahh, hiking in the PNW is the best. I love your photos. Poo Poo Trail looks like it was a real winner.

Ha I would laugh too, but it sure does look like a beautiful trail. I love when trees become covered in moss. I’m so excited to go hiking in the gorge this summer! I haven’t been able to go as my weekends have been work or school related all semester.
You are not alone!!!
Who is this man and who took your picture together???
I am shocked you didn’t poo poo in the woods, that would have probably been my play.
The man is a friend, one I wrangled into exploration. A scruffy dog that was shaped like a unicorn took our photo, aka a couple at the top. Hikers/runners are friendly people remember? I am a pro at asking strangers to take my photo. HA.
I lived in Seattle for 18 years of my life and never heard of this stinky treasure! 😉 Ha, I digress.
Gimme yo scone.
That’s such an awesome name for the trail! I totally would’ve hiked it with my dad, and even though he’s like a speedy mountain goat and goes 10x faster than me (no exaggeration), it still would’ve been super fun. Especially if I got a sweet scone reward at the top! 😉 So happy that you’re hiking a lot again; being in nature sounds like it’s your favorite thing to do!

You’re absolutely not alone haha that’s so clever to name it that because it probably attracts more people with a name like that. Your pictures are gorgeous, as ever. I feel like I’m a little kid again reading “Where the Wild Things Are” or something…you’re really good at creating imagery!
Looks like a very cool place! Love the photos!
Loving’ on your jacket there girl! Gosh I wish I count find places like this around me… even if the name was Poo Poo 😉
I just REALLY wanna know why it is called poo-poo trail. (0:
It is stunning though.
PS- Just catching up on your blog and OMG that french press is ADORABLE.
I used to get this amazing scone from a small latte shop when I worked downtown – this makes me need one in a bad way. I’m thinking Saturday I’ll need to make a stop!
You definitely NEED to make that stop…

You have no idea how excited I am that you have a post today! I’m in the middle of whisking a lemon curd filling for at least 15 minutes And u gave me something to read! I’ll say it again I want to hike with you!

I’m sure that Poo Poo Point gets much more traffic than it deserves due to it’s name. What is the history behind the name? Does it mean something else in another language? Or does it truly mean poop?
You ask fantastic questions!! I shall Google these answers!

Omg you are soooo freaking funny, I literally laughed out loud!! Why in the world would somebody name it “poo poo”, but I have to admit that I would totally be intrigued to hike it too because of the name, lol! Those pics are awesome and what a cute photo of you and the hiker. A side note: you don’t get nervous hiking by yourself all the time?? I would be scared of crazy men, tigers, bears, animals, snakes…hahahaha! I’m such a wimp!
I DO NOT go alone!! OH my goodness no. I am much too scared for that, and for good reason! I always have at least one person with me when I go hiking, this adventure was with that strapping young man in the photo above. I search high and low for willing participants to drag with me on these adventures! 🙂
The vegan 8
Oh ok ok good I feel better now!! I guess I misread it… I thought that was the person you met while hiking, but then again I’m an airhead because somebody obviously had to take the picture, hahaha! Oh and wow, 25, you are so young. I feel like an old fart now ! 😉
love your hiking adventures, and these photos might be my favorite of all the trips- so lush and dark and springish. gorgeous photo duet too – you both look so happy 🙂
I must be 12 too because I laughed when I saw “Poo Poo Point.”
I feel like a jerk asking, but do you have a circular polarizer for your camera? You should get one! I think it will help cut out some of the extreme whites in some of the photos.
I actually rarely have my dSLR with me on adventures like this, these are all iPhone photos! The only photos I really take right now with my fancy camera are food photos. Thank you for the tip though, I will look into this! 🙂
Boy! LOL 😉
And this is the only reason I would need to climb the trail, too!
See, I see it as poo poo like slang for the police.
So, I first saw the pictures and thought “I bet that would be a good bike trail” and then I read you were huffing and puffing and……um…..never mind. Thanks for taking pictures for those of us who are in terrible shape. 🙂

I don’t hike POO POO Trails. I hike Penis Trails.
What about snail trails? Urban Dictionary that..or maybe don’t…do it.

Baha, my sister and I had the same reaction to the name when we hiked this trail a few weeks ago. Do you live near Issaquah?
I live about an hour east of Seattle!
Oh my word, I LOVE it! Whoever decided to name that trail!?? I’m sure it’s some old ancient Indian word or something, lol! The hike looked beautiful though! Your scone looks amazing too.
Ahhhh! Why did that post?! Sorry!
Loving the name of that trail. There are two streets near me… Titty Ho and Butt’s Close and I giggle like a little girl every time I walk down them!
HAHA oh my gosh, I legit just laughed out loud. Especially at Titty Ho.
Catherine @ A Two Storey Home
This fantastic 😀
Of COURSE I chuckled… but when I saw the name of the post I thought it was going to be about running and the things that can happen during… awkward.
Anywho! What a beauty hike! 8 Miles is a doozy.. good thing you brought that scone. Score for free chocolate!! I feel like good things like that always happen to you – as they should! I am so ravenous lately that it made me extremely hungry (the pic of the scone). Extremely. It’s bad Britt, most of the time I get so hungry at work that I could probably eat my foot.
YOU are training for a marathon and attending LULU activities with 5 classes a day?? WELL DUH YOU’RE RAVENOUS!
An Unrefined Vegan
Yeah, I totally went down the Poo Poo path. We really never grow up. And that’s a good thing.

Gorgeous photos!! I think I’m definitely a teenage girl, as I always think of Twilight and Edward when I see beautiful photos like this of the Pacific Northwest 🙂
Beautiful … nature at its best! Thanks for sharing 🙂
That scone though. And ohhhh my god those views are amazing (especially with a name like that hahahaha)
Bahahaha Poo Poo! 🙂 Looks awesome!
haha you’re adorable. great pics of a beautiful hike!

Aww I love the gorgeous hiking photos, being 12 is so much more fun 😀
And I that scone – I want 😀

Rach @ This Italian Family
Sure is pretty for a place with “poo poo” in the name, haha! Glad you two had fun hiking!
i love the way you fuel girl! for me, chocolate chip cookies are a MUST when i hike
Those trees are so stunning. It astounds me how gorgeous nature is! Soak it all up for me xx
sooo beautiful!! and that scone. dayum.
I would have hiked the trail for the name alone. I feel like there should have been a trash can shaped like a commode at the top. It would have been the ultimate finish.
I didn’t even read the whole post before chuckling. The title alone did it for me!
Beautiful hiking pics! Funny name aside that trail looks like it leads to a very magical far off land. I just can’t believe how stunning the Pacific Northwest is.
I laughed at the name. Sooooooooo…who’s the dude?
I hike to Poo Poo all the time (love that place!) and the name never gets old. I also first hiked another favorite trail of mine, Noble Knob, for the name alone. 🙂
