1. My one year Starbucks anniversary was May 28th, and my assistant manager made me the happiest barista in all the land…
2. I’m really lazy when it comes to using my dSLR for anything other than recipe photo shoots, as you’ll see in this post-iPhone photos.
3. I’ve learned some pretty epic shit about coffee. So close…
4. I’m also really lazy about reading/commenting on blogs lately. I promise I still lurk, and I still love all my blog babes, but I just kinda fell off the reading wagon. I publish my posts and fly out the door.
5. If you’ve been keeping up with my posts lately you’ll know I’ve been doing more hiking than running. I went for two 5 mile “zen” runs without my Garmin or music last week and it was magical.
6. I spent $37 on this pizza. I worked all morning and then hiked two mountains to earn that “drain your life savings” pizza.
7. I was lusting over a jacket at REI for months, and it finally went on super duper sale. I bought it a size bigger than normal because I didn’t try it on, and basically I am free to roam without pants when I wear it.
8. I won two giveaways in one week. Does this make it socially acceptable to say “winning?” Because it’s literal….
9. I am obsessed with these snacks right now…whoever said rice cakes were “diet food” clearly never had them smothered in almond butter. The crunchy/creamy/fruit sugar combo is unreal.
The almond butter/cinnamon/dates combo is like dessert.
10. I haven’t had a cupcake in weeks, I need to rectify this.
**UPDATE** Moments after I wrote this post (because I sometimes save a draft for a few days) I went hiking with a friend and SHE BROUGHT ME A CUPCAKE. It was like the heavens opened up.
Scenes from that hike…
Leftover pizza tastes even better at the top.

ABC cookies are SO good. As is pizza. And that JACKET! LOVE. Happy Starbucksiversary!
sincerelylily
Ahhhhh it has already been a year!?!? Sheesh…. time is flying! That is awesome your boss gave you a sweet treat. yay!
That jacket is perfect. And practical. I love that it doubles as a mini-dress whenever you want. And $37 on pizzzaaaaaaaa!?!?! Why so pricey??? I’m glad it was worth it. I once bought a fro yo that was quite heavy and I ended up paying close to $10. I was like ‘wow…. I shall eat this and enjoy every single penny spent on this exotic dessert.”
My confession is like your #4…. but I’m going to try to carve away ‘blogging’ time and be consistent! I hate it when I disappear, I feel like I miss out on so much
ps I run without music probably 80% of the time. LOVE it. It’s like I need to hear my lungs and legs working.
Brittany
I know, I kinda can’t believe it’s been over a year now. CRAZINESS! I can’t tell you why the pizza was so pricey…if my friend hadn’t gone out of his way to suggest this place to accommodate my vegan ways I may have opted for something else. That price tag was RIDDDDIIICCCULOUSS. I’m wayyy too cheap fo dat! HA.
I totally thought of you on my run today as I listened to myself gasp for air.
kathy@vodka and soda
i love love love that you hike those amazing trails/mountains. i wish i was there with you. i say that every week but i will continue to say it because the pictures you post of what you see always takes my breath away.
also, since this is confessions and it’s my confessions linkup day, i added your blog to the linkup so you get more traffic…hope you dont mind! 🙂
Brittany
GET YOUR ASS IN MY WORLD! I don’t mind…I don’t mind at all.
Change of Pace
Happy Starbucks anniversary!
I hear ya about just lurking sometimes instead of commenting.
Very cute jacket..er dress! I love getting new outdoor gear!
My confession- it was Harold’s birthday yesterday so tonight we’re going for an urban hike in the river valley to celebrate…crazy dog people!
thefaithfulrunner
I love this post! Happy Anniversary! 🙂 I love getting to know you through your blog and your jacket is really cute! Glad you could snag a deal on it! My confession-I love my job for the first time in a long time…. but I can’t tell anyone else that because I might jinx it!
Ellie
I love the name of that cookie “Mac the Chip”! I worked at Starbucks for a couple months and learned so much about coffee! Mostly I remember how a patron can tell you immediately if their cappuccino was too “dry” for their liking. La-dee-dah!
All the hiking looks fun! Do you use poles?
Brittany
Haha cappuccino drinkers are tricky people I tell ya. I do not use poles, however I’ve been thinking about purchasing some as my hiking will be increasing. We shall see!
P
Seems like you have had a lot of days of being rewarded with lots of treats (food and non-food related :D!!). Wow I can’t believe it has been ONE YEAR since you joined Starbucks…time really does fly by!
happyappalachy
Those cookies are the best and the hiking makes me jealous as I sit here in my office on a warm June day! Keep on keeping on! Your blog is one of my faves!
Brittany
Your sweet, sweet comment has made my day. Thank you. ❤
Shawna
such a fun post! hilarious about the jacket minidress and i can’t tell you how much i love that you posted a pic of that. 🙂 always enjoy reading your blog, girl! congrats on your one year baristaversary! my confession: i cannot buy Peanut Butter & Co’s Cinnamon Raisin peanut butter. i just eat that straight with a spoon and hate myself for it later even though i’m loving every second of it. 🙂
Laur
I love the fact you’re into hiking lately. And it looks like you live in an area with a TON of awesome trails. Lucky girl!! I cannot believe a pizza cost 37$. Holy shit, splurge. Haha!
Davida @The Healthy Maven
I only use my SLR for recipe photoshoots too. Any pictures of people or anything besides food are taken by C and then I take full credit muahahahahaha
Britta
Britt! I am sooooo lazy about blog reading/commenting too! Not to mention blogging… its almost been a month – what the? Quite honestly, it’s been a nice little break! Love your new patagonia jacket! SO NICE. I have no idea how you managed to spend $37 on a pizza but I sure hope it was massive with loads of goodies on top!
XO You’re hikes make my soul so happy.
Kate @ Another Clean Slate
I’ve never been into hiking but lately I want to try. There are some good places around me.
Megan
I can’t believe it has been so long! I still like to think about you when I go to trader joes, CANT STOP WONT STOP
katalysthealth
Aww congrats on the Starbucks anniversary 🙂
And you are one lucky girl to have friends bringing you cupcakes, mine probably would if they knew I wouldn’t strangle them for giving me sugar. Seriously, me and sugar need to break up for a while. Holy cravings OUT OF CONTROL!
B
I’ve been slacking on reading blogs as well. Which is why I’m running around now and commenting!
Food, Booze, & Baggage
Congrats on your Starbucks anniversary! One pizza was $37? It did look really good though!
brittney
Congrats on one year 🙂
I havent had a cupcake in a LONG time either I think after I finish this challenge Im on Im getting a dang cupcake.
Bri @ My Life As
I’m so glad you got your cupcake! That pizza looks so good & where you’re hiking looks gorgeous!
di @ life of di.
1) That’s so sweet of your manager 🙂 I’ve seen those cookies but have never tried one before. They look delicious!
4) I fall on and off the wagon all the time! No worries 🙂
5) I wish I could run without music but I can barely do a mile without. Pathetic.
7) LOVE LOVE LOVE that Patagonia jacket! I love their stuff. I would own a ton of it if I lived in the PNW!
karla @ finding my fit
How is it even possible that you’ve been at starbs for a year already?! I can only hope that the next year goes that quickly too for selfish and obvious reasons 😉
mt rainer looked gorgeous from JBLM when I was stuck on post for that month. i envy you!!
Krystal R.
Totally acceptable to say winning when you’re winning. Just ask Charlie 😉 haha also two giveaways? I swear I enter so many and win zilch!
Ashley
so cool that sbux is such an awesome company! I halfway contemplated (well, still am contemplating) getting a part time job if my savings runs too low while I pursue the biz thing… and I’ve heard such good things about sbux as a company!
HAHA I love the minidress/jacket. It’s like you’re dressed for a club AND for the cold walk to the club all at the same time!
Brittany
HAHA YES, your comment made me laugh out loud. I love it.
Natalie @ The Ravenous Mommy
I’m so lazy, ALL my photos right now are iphone!
Ashley @MilesonOats
Dood. I confess that I have also joined you on the lazy blogger bandwagon. I think I am a little worse because I’ve rarely been posting these days. Sigh, it’s like a summer blogging flu. I have every intention in commenting and catching up, but then something else happens (The Food Network) and I miserably fail. Womp womp.
I want that Patagonia jacket now. Too bad I live in the hottest state known to mankind. Can you believe it was 101 degrees on my 5 am run this morning?! Flippin ridiculous.
Brittany
My dad lives in Glendale, and loves to send me photos of the temps. I do love the dry heat opposed to high humidity, but running in AZ in the summer is ROUGH!
Lou (@Lou_YogiTree)
mmmmm leftover pizza. mmmmm cupcakes. mmmmm cookies and coffee. All the good things.
Amy
Awww I love your confession posts! I rarely shoot anything besides food with my dSLR too; it’s basically an iPhone for everything else. It’s just too unwieldily to lug around in my purse when I’m out… But I could probably clock someone pretty darn good if they scared me in a dark alley at night. So maybe I should reconsider. 😉 And I’ve been horrible at blog commenting too! I took on a couple of new projects, and they’ve been eating up all of my time. Sigh… But we’re all bloggers and understand, so hopefully nobody minds too much!
Matt @ Runner Savvy
Lol happy anniversary at Starbucks!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
ARE YOU SERIOUS about the AB and dates on rice cakes?! Omg. I’ve been doing AB and jam on rice cakes, but I haven’t tried sticking dates on there. This needs to change. Doing it tomorrow. Or, you know… now 😯
Brittany
I TOLD YOU!! OMG you will LOVE. Seriously, it’s unreal how something SO simple is so mind blowing. I am freakkkkinnggg obsessed.
Cassy
My confession: I can’t remember the last time I had a cupcake. Seriously. And that’s just unacceptable and needs to be fixed immediately.
Em
LOOOVEEE your hiking photos! I wish I could hike over running any day of the week! Congrats on the work anni too!! 🙂
Mary
That’s such a lovely note from your assistant manager! Awwww!
Heather @ HeatherRunsFast.com
One year. Dang, seems like just yesterday. Glad they recognized you for it 🙂 I think “Winner” is totally acceptable in this case. And this case only. Mt. Rainier should be your next “PR” and when you do it, I’ll buy you one $37 pizza for fuel and then ANOTHER $37 pizza to enjoy at the top 🙂 As for the jacket… wear it like a dress AND a jacket. Two for the price of one AND It was on sale. Boom. Are you still picking up change? I always think of you when I do, haha.
Brittany
I AM still picking up change when I see it, but I don’t see it as often these days!! I will attribute that to looking UP much more!! My coin counter total is pretty sad right now…haha.
brickhousechick
You’ve been having some fun, girl! You sure sound like a ‘winner’ to me. You make everything look so delicious! As to confessions, I had two cider donuts yesterday and enjoyed every bite. 🙂
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I love your confession posts. There’s so much goodness in there. 🙂
1) Congrats on the one year anniversary, you coffee master.
2) That’s one ridiculously expensive pizza; must have been all those cloves of garlic.
3) Hooray for the pants less photo. We are now twinsies. I’m so glad you put yours up too. 🙂 Here’s to a pants free lifestyle.
Katherine
I’ve been loving the date/almond butter combo, and I totally stole it from you. (Now THAT’S a major confession 🙂 ) Also, I dream of having a manager like you do. Um amazing 1 year anniversary pressie? I know you totally deserve it. A $37 pizza? Expensive, but it’s all in the name of good food, righttt? 🙂
Ashley
I want to go hiking so bad now! My parents are driving out here for my birthday next month and I’m seriously considering convincing them to go hiking with me at the closest ‘mountain’ because I miss it so much. Though, let’s be real, it is NOT a mountain. I miss my REAL mountains!
I have spent ridiculous amounts at the Whole Foods salad bar before. It’s pretty much the only place I eat out anymore, and I will fork over $10 or $12 for a box of salad deliciousness.
apartmentwife
you should celebrate your one year anniversary by baking a big ol’ post-summer-hike-perfect cupcake that you can photograph and use to make me 9 kinds of jealous. buuut, you might get jealous when you see what kind of mountains i’m planning to tackle this weekend 🙂 you’ve been warned 🙂
Brittany
Ohhh my, I am so excited to see your adventure!
Amalia
That coat! Amazing. Congrats on being an official java princess (that’s what we called baristas after one year at my store). I’m now a retired java princess – and there are days I really miss it!
Khushboo Thadani (@KhushbooThadani)
Your manager is so sweet- and that cookie looks amazeballs! My confession is that despite blogging for the past 4 years, I still rely on my iPhone/iPad for photos…no shame!!
Melanie
I love all of your confessions! I LOVE that jacket so much and I’m happy you found it on an awesome sale. SO exciting! I need to try your rice cake concoctions too. YUM!!!
GiGi Eats Celebrities
MUAHHH HA HA HA HA AH AHA HA HA AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!! Your mini dress would fit so well in Los Angeles 😉 😉
8— AHHH HA HA HA AH!
Missy
What on earth is on a $37 dollar pizza to make it…$37?
I know vegan cheese is pricey but couldn’t make out the other ingredients. For a secoind it looked like their was sausage on their but I know that ain’t right.
Melissa @ Al Forno Mementos
what a great manager! we don’t celebrate work anniversaries at my job.
annnnnnd coffee master … can you make me something?
what did you winnnnnnnnnnn?
and that friend should win an award … definitely knew you were without cupcakes for a while … haha
Kelsey
When I worked at Cold Stone, I had an awesome crew to work with, and still consider them my “family”. Our owners were absolutely amazing (we had the best work mama – she brought us homemade dinner some weekends!) ; they would throw crew parties in the winter and summer…at their house on the lake! Ah-mazing. You are inspiring me to work on my hiking, for real – and that coat? LOVE!
Amy @ A Desert Girl
I love your confession posts. THAT JACKET!!! Love love love. As a jacket and a dress. See – practical purchase…. Congrats on your work anniversary!
Rach @ This Italian Family
Leftover pizza is always a winner in my book, but with a view like that – my oh my! I love it!
Also, your new mini jacket dress is great! 😉 Glad you got it on sale!
And congrats on one year at Sbucks! You know I love that place!
