Posted at 6:58 AM by Brittany, on June 6, 2013

Did you celebrate national running day? I sure did. I ran a whopping 3.5 miles smack in the middle of the heat wave we had yesterday. I set out for more miles, but I got SO HOT I turned into a salt laden slug. I’m embarrassed to admit my opinion of a heat wave was 77 degrees. Regardless of my distance, I ran and that was the point. Success.

    u75r3lfm_1370491632

I also run to eat my body weight in cupcakes, but that sort of contradicts fitting into my pants. Speaking of fitting into my pants, in my last post I mentioned that my pants are getting a little snug!! I’ve decided to set a few daily goals in an attempt to fix that problem.

    20130602-203053

I don’t normally make goals, but these are simple tasks that can be easily accomplished. The paper just helps remind me. I should have included washing my workout clothes on there too. I am happy to report that the past few months I have been washing my workout clothes after EACH use!! That is huge, I used to wear my running clothes at least three times before washing them. Don’t judge me because I KNOW I am not the only one. Nonetheless, I have become more hygienic, and more wasteful with water.

My eats have been crazy boring lately. Boring, but good. Things like giant bowls of quinoa and veggies, tofu and veggies, more veggies. Basically non-photogenic meals. I’ve had no desire or motivation to get wild in the kitchen, I hope to change that soon. The most exciting thing I’ve eaten would be a tortilla with PB, honey, cinnamon, and banana.

    20130605-204105

I couldn’t wait to take a decent photo, I ate it right away. This was exactly what I was craving, which is why I am so excited about it. I can’t remember the last time I figured out exactly what it was I wanted, and made the magic happen within 10 minutes. Actually that’s not true, I really wanted to swim in Africa so I filled up my bathtub and threw in some toy elephants and giraffes. Close enough. Not food related, but you get the idea.

I’m starting to ramble so I will end with my current favorite jam. I am obsessed.

Q: Do you have daily goals??

Ahhh, 77 is totally my happy temperature bubble. But not for running. Ugh – don’t think I could make it 3.5 miles. Really in any temperature. I’m soooooo not in good running shape. And I did not celebrate national running day… *hangs head in shame*

I am big on goals! Yours are great!

I will admit it!! I don’t wash my workout clothes after each workout! Well at least the shorts i dont always wash. Usually every other workout. That banana tortilla sounds soo yummy!! Peanut butter and banana might be the best combo out there.

What is mason jar and why is it on your goals? I mean, I know what a mason jar is…. but what are you doing with them? YOu have to find at least three? Tell me your secrets.

The HEAT, although I love the warmth, makes running so difficult. I sweat and sweat and turn to slime that runs at snail pace. Psh, 3.5 miles is better than none! So yay for that!

Um… I am really bad about washing workout clothes and so is Mr Speedy, and his smell THE WORST. Like it hurts my nose bad. Basically, our home will have a designated area for sweaty clothes and if anyone misbehaves or we catch an evil person, we shall throw them in the room and lock the door and they will probably lose all consciousness and ability to move.

I need to buy some of that ‘sport’ wash… or one-time-use workout clothes.

GOALS: Eat a freakin’ real dinner tonight! I have been eating blahhhhhhhhhhh and boring too. We are tummy twins.

I have a problem of assuming everyone can read my mind. Three Mason jars of water!! The giant 32 oz jars. I’m like a FISHY FISH! I’m scared of that dirty clothes dungeon you are preparing…I never want to find myself in there.

Ah! My secret is out…I don’t know anyone who washes their workout clothes after every use (as gross as that may be) but it’s quite pointless I think 🙂

I don’t really have any daily goals except to be active in some way and to not drink more than 3 cups of coffee per day, since I have an extreme coffee addiction where I can consume pots at a time and then have the shakes for a solid two weeks 🙂

Max always gets mad at me when I dont wash clothes right away but I just cannot justify washing ONE pair of pants/shirt..so naturally they sit for about 3-4 days before a wash happens. Oops. Lovin’ the goals! The whole clean eats, minimal sweets is one I need to work on.. I have been wanting to eat sugary, chocolatey things ALL.DAY.LONG. It’s bad. I hear ya with the run! I was a sweaty beast yesterday with mine.. oh my lanta.

What in the world is a mason jar?! And I love that you went to your tub instead of Africa. Your logical and ability to get from point A to point B so fast truly amazes me about you.

Nice work on 3.5 miles, its faster and farther than all those folks on the couch!! Technically mine is a recliner so I don’t fit into that bunch…

Um daily goals. I get really happy if I work out every day. This is my first week jumping back into it and I’m surprised by my hesitation. It was kinda nice being a lump on the couch. But alas, my muscles are deteriorating. I am actually terrified for abs and push ups today. WHAT IF I CANT DO THEM. Wah.

I’ve definitely been neglecting them and now that Marty is out of school for the summer, I need to make sure I’m at home after work instead of the gym every day – quality time 😉 Good luck with your goals lady! There’s seriously no better feeling than hitting those cravings spot on. I mean, things like falling in love or winning the lottery would probably top it, but satisfying that ever so annoyingly mysterious “I want _____” voice is gold. And I definitely approve of the combination of nut butter, honey, banana, and cinnamon. Good choice 😉

I definitely don’t wash my workout clothes every time I work out! I do air them out though…if that is less disgusting? But Texas + 3-4 days of outdoor workouts a week + summer = I need a new laundry habit. Also 3.5 miles is really awesome! Good job!

Air drying is good!! I do that too, I like to tell myself that it helps. Even better if you hang them outside in that Texas sun! The sun will kill some of the odor! It could also fade the colors though, so…that just means time to shop for more clothes sooner! HAH!

Hi Brittany! We also have a heat wave going through Seattle. I was set on running 8 miles yesterday, but at 5pm it was like 82 degrees….so I only go to do 6.5 before I was too hot and going to die. I do try to make daily goals, such as workout everyday after work in some way. I try to make sure that I am up at a reasonable hour on the weekends as well. I am there with you regarding washing my workout clothes….sometimes I wear them 2-3 times. If I dont, I am doing laundry all the time!

I think I have a bunch of MLB-themed rubber duckies at my parents’ place; maybe I should pick them up this weekend… And I SO wish our heat waves were 77°! We’re supposed to hit 105° on Saturday, which means it’ll be 70° by 8 am when I want to run. Or 85° by 9:30, when I actually get my butt out the door. Oh joy! 😉

Just seeing them makes me be more mindful. hahahah I man I thought it was just me, I wash my workout clothes every few times too. Sometimes I go through phases of being clean and washing them each time but always end up falling back in the dirty wearing cycle.

I write down 5 things everyday that I was grateful for in the day, I’ve tried to add the goal of daily meditation and using my foam roller (which happens less than once a day).

nice job on your run missy, thats a hot day for sure! And good job on the goal list! I tend to write more daily to-do lists, but I need to be including drinking more water on mine. Why is it so hard to get down water sometimes?!

I absolutely need to go to bed before 10 says the girl commenting after 10 p.m. I love daily goals and basically lists of all kind. Peanut butter and bananas ain’t bad either. The same goes for a bowl of veggies, unphotogenic or not.

I’m finally back and reading your blog Brittany! AH! Anyways, your picture spoke a least a million words to me, and they were all of jealousy! Those pancakes are seriously so beautiful! Yeah, I’m calling food beautiful! Are the mason jars glasses of water?
