This week I’m spending some quality time with this guy.
I’m house sitting until the 13th, which means I will be hanging up my crazy cat lady apron and going on multiple daily dog walks instead. I house/dog sat this guy back in October so we’re already lifelong friends. House sitting meant making a trip to TJ’s.
That’s all I bought. Just kidding. I wanted to highlight/share the new hemp seeds they’re selling. Fantastic purchase. I also picked up the usual 15 lbs of produce, along with a new to me treat. When I worked at TJ’s I was in charge of the cookie order (go figure right) yet I never actually tried these cookies…until now.
These chocolate cats are pure evil, they’re straight from Satan’s bowel movements. I cannot stop eating them. The tub has 15 servings and I ate HALF the tub in two days. As if it couldn’t get any worse I also thought this would be a good idea…
…it was not. The PB jar is also half gone in two days.
No more cats. NO, get them away from me.
There is one positive outcome from this gluttonous cat adventure I embarked on. Both days I ate the cat/pb combo I had insanely good energy for my evening spin class. I could hear the cats crying as they dripped from my pours. That sounded gross, sorry.
Seriously though, I’ve never ended a spin class with a higher watt (power) output than I had at the beginning. So maybe the cats can stay…no…yes…no.
Moral of the story: do not purchase cat cookies when you’re house sitting alone.
Q: Have you tried these cats? They also make them cinnamon flavored….

I love those!! Luckily… I am no where near a Trader Joes. But… once I move, I probably will restart the addiction. I miss the delicious Trader Joe treats (I’ve even gotten my fiancé hooked on cookie butter!)
Brittany
Cookie butter is one item I CANNOT buy. I just can’t. I know myself and that would be AN UGLY sight. Like, ugly cry ugly.
Jennie
I haven’t tried the cats but their pretzel nuggets with chocolate and (I think) toffee are like crack.
hellotofit
I have not seen those cat cookies, but now I want to buy some when I’m back in the states!! Cookies and PB..what could be better?? Hope you have fun house-sitting, and that you have some cute/funny stories to tell 🙂
mikeytbull
Lol you are so funny. I am a dog person but I like cats too… (couldn’t eat a whole one tho!) *joking* I’d love to try the cookies, they look good…
Karla @ Finding My Fit
i must go to the TJ’s in town before i move and stock up on all the goodies.
i realllly dislike cats. but J and I will be getting a dog in the next couple of months 🙂

Chocolatey Cat Cookies = My Kryptonite. No joke. I have to put the shopping bag in my trunk so that I don’t devour the entire container on my fifteen minute drive back to my house (I also dip them in the same peanut butter.) And no worries about eating half the tub of cookies in two days – I’ve eaten half a jar of that peanut butter in one day. I’m actually taking a peanut butter hiatus until Easter. I couldn’t seem to control my binging on the glorious stuff. Trying to reboot. Why does nut butter have to be so unbelievably delicious + high calorie! NOOO.
Brittany
You are one strong soul to give up nut butters for TWO MONTHS!? I actually told myself (and a friend to keep me accountable) that today I am staying AWAY from all healthy fats. ALL of them. I need a reboot…a one day reboot haha. Instead I’m eating the cardboard like crap of powdered PB. HAHA. I’m clearly addicted.
di @ life of di.
I ate a jar of the PB2 in two sittings a few weeks ago. It’s seriously out of control. No lie – I would prefer peanut butter to a lot of desserts. Hopefully I can get a hold of this little addiction with a few months away from it. 😩
Heather @ HeatherRunsFast.com
I’ve never been a big cat person.. until now. Thanks for creating yet another obsession for me. You know I’m on board with the high caloric/cookie idea for post workout. It’s not just you… we should do an experiment and have people try it and see if there’s an over all theme 🙂
Jessica
If you are going to go all out, cats are the way to go…
jennifer prod
a gluttonous cat adventure sounds like a good time, anytime (all this coming from a bonafide dog lover). gimme that pb!
Amy @ A Desert Girl
Mmm, they look tasty. I’ll have to try those out (in cinnamon I think!) after I overdose on those mini mint mouthful ice cream things that I discovered last weekend….
Brittany
I can’t believe those ice cream bars have lasted you a week. I’m in awe.
shonalika
You US folk and your Trader Joes! I’ve actually been to one on my visit to California, but that was many years ago, long before I had any particular interest (or need to be interested, being a kid) in food – although even then I marvelled and delighted at the almond horns and sugar cookies. Both complete novelties!
Alas, I shall have to be content with using a bar of dark chocolate for PB dipping until I get an excuse to visit again.
Brittany
The first time I visited TJ’s I was 20, and didn’t see what the fuss was about. Then I got a job at one and fell head over heels. I adore that black hole of cheap dangerous treats. HAHA.
Lindsay @ A Runnaroundd Life
Haha love this post. And now I need to buy those crackers.
Aja
That dog is adorable. I think I need to purchase cat cookies now.
Laur
My last trip I chose the cookie butter sandwich cookies (omg!!!) over the cat cookies. They had a beautiful cookie display on the end shelf but alas, I managed to choose one or the other. There’s always next time!!! Haha. I wish the cookie butter cookies were vegan so you could try them! And, seriously, the picture of the cat stuck in the peanut butter is making me DROOL. It just looks so delicious. I NEED TO GO BACK TO TJS RIGHT MEOW!
Brittany
I picked up the cookie butter cookies…and felt a sense of relief to find they were NOT vegan. That’s just one more thing I would have to stay away from otherwise. When treats have milk in them it makes my job much easier. HAHA. The cookie butter itself is fair game though…so I could always make my own. THEN I WOULD HAVE AN ENTIRE JAR on hand and that would be dangerous.
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West
Hi Britt! So you used to work at TJ’s? That’s awesome! The fact that you still like to shop there after working there is a testament to the wonderfulness that is Trader Joe’s. I grew up with cats, but don’t think I would have them again. I don’t have any pets right now, but looks like a dog is in the near future. You’re a good person to house sit. And nice work on spinning it out while high on cat carbs. 🙂
Brittany
I sure did, it was such a fun job!! The company treated me well too.
kimhoeltje
I love those cats!!!!! The vanilla are my favorite!
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy
Nooooo, cats all the way!!!
Anthony
I just wanted you to know that I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. Like all of these things there are “rules”–though you need not follow if they are too time consuming or stressful. You can find the details on my site as I didn’t want to type them again. I just wanted you to know that I appreciate your blog and any chance of people visiting your blog through my recommendation is worthwhile.
Emma @em-poweredwellness
TJs has so many good yet terrible treats like that. All of which go too well with peanut butter. It’s dangerous but I can’t stay away…
lizzysimpson
I’m glad I’m not the only one with a PB addiction! I’m hoping the cats aren’t accessible in the UK or I’ll be in trouble…
susanlaury
You probably don’t want to know how good the TJ ginger cat cookies are dipped in Nutella, do you?
Brittany
No….NO! Don’t tell me these things! I don’t eat Nutella, but there are plenty of chocolate hazelnut spreads I do eat…oh NOO I am intrigued to try this now. AHH.
Ellie
Those look delicious! I used to adore animal crackers and would buy the chocolate ones and dip them in vanilla pudding! I think your idea is obviously so much better 🙂 That doggie is super cute! Dog/house sitting used to be my favorite. Easy money to live in someones house and chill with their pets.
Amy
Wait, you had never had the chocolate cat cookies?? They’re seriously one of my favorite things TJ’s sells! Along with their gingersnap cousins. And all of the produce. And the chocolate brownie oat bars. And… And… And… Okay, I lied. I love it all. And I’m incredibly indecisive. 😉 Have fun dog sitting and stay warm on your walks!
Khushboo Thadani (@KhushbooThadani)
Not a cat person (terrified) but cookie cats? I want!!!
harveylisam
Man, I miss dogs. I want one.
dolthack
Has to be a cool dog, he’s a Hawkeye fan
Brittany
Yes, he is!! Good eye. 🙂
jules
THOSE CATS THOUGH. Try the cinnamon ones. Or actually, don’t, don’t try the cinnamon ones.
An Unrefined Vegan
You’re housesitting! You gotta treat yourself cuz it’s kind of like vacation!
Brittany
Your logic behind this comment could not be more genius…..YES.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Maaaaybe it’s a good thing we don’t have TJ’s in Canada. But this actually reminds me of my Annie’s chocolate graham bunnies experience. They were my snack of choice for snowboarding last winter, and I could seriously go through almost an entire box in a single sitting. In.sane.
Kellybean
These snacks look great! Atleast they gave you more energy for your workout. 😉
By the way, I nominated you for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award! Here is the link: http://kellybean.co/2015/02/06/the-very-inspiring-blogger-award/
My apologies if you have been nominated before!
Britta
hahaha I freaking love you! I would do the exact same thing! I have absolutely no control whatsoever. Can trader joes come to canada already PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I don’t know. The after math of the cat cookies sounds to be a great thing. I think they should be a regular part of your routine.
The neighbors dropped off an entire plate filled with homemade Sea Salt Chocolate Chip cookies yesterday. They’re almost entirely gone and I can assure you they won’t last the day. No regrets.
Brittany
This is why you are one of my favorite people. You justify my thoughts when I’m on the fence and push me the right way. The direction of treats is always the right way. My god those cookies sound dangerous.
avenuecamilla
Awww he’s such a cutie!! Hope you have lots of fun dog sitting 🙂

OMG those cats and peanut butter?! Genius! I always do Kashi + pb but this is taking that to a whole new level. Also I thought this title was “No more oats” and I was really confused haha
P
Those. chocolate. cat. cookies.
My family would buy a tub and it wouldn’t last two days, haha! I also used to be head over heels for the meringue cookies! Ahh good times 😛
Nicole @ Foodie Loves Fitness
Yesss I bought the cinnamon flavored cat cookies once and had the same issue! Huge tubs of cookies are just not a good idea for me. Ha! And yay for dog sitting! I know you’re a cat lady and all, but canines are the best! 🙂
Megasaurus
I’ve tried the ginger ones! A co-worker brings them in to work…. sooo addicting.
Appalachian Philosopher
Great blog, great pictures and PEANUT BUTTER!
GiGi Eats Celebrities
NO WONDER WHY YOU KEPT EATING THE CATS! That stupid DOG IS STARING AT YOU like he’s JUDGING YOU!!!! That would drive me to eat the cats too! GOOD GOD!
Brittany
HEY NOW!!! Be nice. This dog forces me to walk, so we’re cool. HAHA.
Luv What You Do
Love your cat cookies! So I am a HUGE fan of the cinnamon cat cookie, hot chocolate and marshmallow mix. Great to see I”m not the only one who dunks them : )
I have done a lot of dog sitting in my days and the benefit (after I eat all the snacks in their pantry) is that the dogs keep me walk/running morning and night!
Choc Chip Uru
I love your gorgeous doggy you are sitting for 😀
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru
Katie T
Yes, I have tried the cats, and yes, the must contain some sort of crack-like additive because YOU CANNOT PUT THE LID ON THEM. I have never done the peanut butter dipping – a whole new level of addiction!
Bradley
Up here in Canada, no Trader Joes (how do we survive?). I love cats anyway, so these cats look amazing! I’m more likely to eat an entire bag of chips than a tub of cookies, but still…
Nicole Marie Story
I am laughing so hard.
Change of Pace
I say keep eating half a tub of the cats!! Unfortunately we don’t have a Trader Joe’s, otherwise I’d probably be going out to get some soon 🙂
Lucie Elizabeth (@CollectingLight)
CAT COOKIESSSSS! Just another reason to visit america (Trader Joes!)
kathyatrealtalk
trader joe needs to get its act together and come on up to the great white north….but not shit the bed like Target did and close down after only being open for 2yrs.
Brittany
I really have no idea why they don’t. Many of you Canadian folk have shown interest. Are you near Pirate Joe’s?? HA.
amysrecipefordisaster
No joke – working at Trader Joe’s is a dream of mine! Lucky!
Brittany
Doooo it, it was such a fun job.
amysrecipefordisaster
I appreciate the “go for it”!
sarahpie13
Just going to Trader Joes is crack- forget actually buying anything!
I used to have a slight obsession with Joe Joe’s dipped in peanut butter… damn cookies kept disappearing in like a day though 😉
melliedee
haha too funny. I love how the title ties to all things without cats. 😛 or wanting to get them cats away from you. 😛 I still have yet to go to TJs. There’s a few around us but not close enough.

Not gonna lie, I’m glad I didn’t read this yesterday before I walked inside a Trader Joes 🙂
The Vegan 8
Never tried those cats, but then again, there is not a Trader Joe’s near me. I thought they were dog treats at first, lol! They are so light for being chocolate. Chocolate and peanut butter are always the best combo!
Rach @ This Italian Family
Aww I wish you lived closer to me – you could dog sit/house sit for us! I bet Oreo would LOVE you! And I’d even keep my kitchen stocked with chocolate cats for you to munch on. 🙂

P.S. I need some hemp seed recipes….like, chocolate-y, peanut butter-y, coconut-y…something….
