“Prana (प्राण, prāṇa) is the Sanskrit word for “life force” and the term refers collectively to all cosmic energy, permeating the universe on all levels.”
Have you ever stopped to sit with your thoughts? No distractions, no deadlines, no where to be, just you and your brain noise. I’ve been more in touch with my thoughts lately than I ever have been, both good and bad.
This energy pull within the universe can be controlled simply by the manifestations you project within your own head. My goal for 2016 was to honor my thoughts and focus more on paying attention to them, and so far I’m off to a good start.
As I watched the Star Wars movies with my family in Arizona the last couple weeks (I’m back home now) I realized this principle of “controlling” your mind made its way to the big screen back in 1977 when the movies were first released.
In order to be a successful Jedi, one must be aware their thoughts to prevent them from slipping over to the dark side. When we let our negative thoughts take over, life becomes somewhat of a spiral. If only we all had someone like Yoda to fall back on.
Jedi’s remind me of Yogis in a way. Both have a peaceful way about them and enjoy helping others. I’ve been going through a bit of an odd spot in my life lately where I’ve had to work hard to ensure my thoughts stay on track. To facilitate this process I’ve been trying to
become a Jedi incorporate more yoga into my days.
To be a Jedi, one must have the proper gear. I took it upon myself to ensure I’m bundled and ready to get my zen on with none other than prAna clothing company. With a mission to inspire healthy, active, and free-spirited living, I knew I had to get myself some of their clothes. The holidays may be over, but sale items stop for no one.
I’m usually all about comfort without caring about style, but with prAna the two worlds collide. Just like a Jedi and a Yogi. I’ve clearly been bitten by the Star Wars bug.
I fell in love with these two items and haven’t taken them off. So soft, so cozy, fit like a glove, and perfect for work and play. A company that seeks out sustainable ways of life for products and people just screams positive vibes.
Prana means life force, Jedi mind mastering uses the force, and when combined to ensure a happy and healthy life I leave you with this: may the life force be with you.
Q: How do you practice manifesting a life you want? I’m all about the hippie dippie vibes. Manifest your destiny, and life follows somewhere behind.

Such a creative post – love it. I must admit, I’d probably be on the dark side so dang fast. I have a hard time from becoming a pit of an Eeyore some days…the dark side would snatch me up quick!! 😉 I love this gear though – super cute!
Sometimes I’m on team dark side, but only because I think cookies for breakfast is a good idea. 😝
love your yoga pose pic, its magazine worthy! I really enjoy yoga but more for the calming of the mind thing. sometimes my mind is going a million miles a minute and yoga helps me calm it, plus runners need us some yoga 🙂
Thank you! I agree, it’s a total mind practice and until you really capture the entire spirit, mind, AND body together, yoga seems incomplete. Must have them all! Stretches are great for running!

I like the leggings and the zipper hoodie!
Your yoga-on-the-mountain picture is really great!
Thank you, one of my favorite photos! 🙂
you should read (or listen to) this book – totally hippie dippie but I’m loving it http://www.amazon.com/SuperLife-Forces-Healthy-Eternally-Awesome/dp/006229718X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452527715&sr=8-1&keywords=superlife
Awesome, thank you for sharing!
That outfit is really cute and looks super comfy!
It’s amazing. I feel like I’m in a cocoon.

Brittany, I really enjoyed this post! I was nine when the first Star Wars came out and saw it with my sister. We recently saw the new Star Wars together with her 20-year-old son. She raised him on Star Wars and Star Trek, and happened to have the first three movies on VHS, sans CGI enhancements that the remastered DVD versions have. Of course we had to watch this groundbreaking trilogy to complete our marathon. The newer episodes 1-3 don’t compare!
I’m with you on yoga helping to keep you away from the dark side. Whenever I’m feeling grouchy, I hit the yoga mat. Yoga has become a daily habit that I look forward to doing every day, and in March I will start my teacher training. Its a big part of my Intentions for 2016. http://thecaminoprovides.com/2016/01/06/intentions-for-2016/
The force is strong in you too. 🙂
My family and I watched one of the older movies (I think what would now be considered episode four) on VHS, and MAN what a difference the new quality makes. I admit watching it on VHS really added to the overall experience though. How wonderful about your upcoming training, I hope you discover many great things! Thank you for the nice comment. ☺️
I don’t often stop and sit with my thoughts, but I always run with them! That’s where I find mindfulness. On the run. Nice post!
Wonderful! I notice when I run I work through my thoughts easier. I’ve never had a run that didn’t help me in some way!
GIRLFRIEND, I love this post so much!! Oh let me count the ways!! Not only does it coincide with the release of my new YOGA blog, but it’s all about fashion, which is my thing!!!!! 😉 Oh how Alô Yoga and the gorgeous intergalactic Judy Jetson looking pants by Alala Style make me feel so good, just like does your Prana gear. Let me send you a big yoga girl hug, please! I heart you! Happy thoughtful New Year:) xoxoxo
Oh I’m so happy you approve, my yogi goddess friend! ❤️
love those pants!!
Right? I actually can’t wait to run in them, so comfortable and high waisted. Perfect for running!

Ok. I’m in love with this. I want to be a Jedi toooooo!!! :))) Lately I feel like taking a look at the bigger picture of life and what truly makes me happy has helped me start to create a life I want. More travel, more of this, less of that, being with people who bring me the most joy. Getting older helps.
Jedi mindsets unite! Life really can be easy, I don’t believe it has to be hard like many people think. Unless you’re running a marathon, that’s hard. 😘👏🏻
Excellent post! Allow me to offer a dissenting opinion however.
I would say that trying to “control” my thoughts and feelings is what brings us further to the dark side and away from serenity. If I grab onto that emotion and try to change it or make it the way I want it to be that’s where friction and unease instability come into play.
However when I observe the thought or emotion and allow myself to feel it, experience it and let it go, then I am able to serenely learn what that particular experience was trying to teach me about myself.
I think Jedi’s are subtle and fluid, whereas Sith are forceful and aggressive. Like yogis and cross-fitters.
That being said: great pants!
Your view on this is perfection. I couldn’t have said it better myself. 👏🏻
This post is awesome. I, being a huge nerd, definitely incorporate yoga and other exercise into my daily life probably because of weird inspirations from Star Wars and my other nerd fandoms.
It is so important to pay attention to our feelings and our minds and listen to our bodies. I think it’s easy to forget to do that in today’s fast paced society.
Also, that outfit looks ridiculously comfy and I think I need it.
Star Wars was wise beyond its years! 😉
This is absolutely amazing – love the connection you made between the two. I think this sort of aligns with my intention for 2016. I want to really delve into living an authentic life, and honor all of my thoughts.
Amen my friend! I dig it.
I have been creating my Zen by reading rather than watching TV. Feels so much more peaceful 🙂
I’ve wanted to get more into this too, mainly before bed! Yet here I am at 9:30 and on the computer. HA.
Your style of writing and how you incorporate your life’s events continue to WOW me 🙂 I’m not good at being quiet with my thoughts and SELF, unless it’s for a quick minute. Got to keep trying 😉
I’m trying to be more consistent with my yoga practice this month…so far I’ve done one class a week each week, and that’s about all I can handle right now!
One class a week is great! I’ve been doing mine at home, but find that going to classes are more enjoyable. As long as I have a good teacher!
Well-written post girly 🙂
I love the pants! They absolutely look like they’re comfy
Thank you! I love the pants too, they are perfect for running!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’m just going to go ahead and call you Yoda from now on 😉 I love the hippie dippie ways. I’m all about sending the positive energy out there and hoping it boomerangs back at me. So far, so good!
Bahaha I love it. Master Yoda.

You’re so cute! YAY for doing more yoga! Last year I really focused on doing yoga most days, and I definitely want to keep it going in 2016. The more I practice the asanas and delve deeper into what it means to be a yogi – on & off the mat – the more I fall in love with it. And I’m a fan of prAna gear!
YES, I love that you say on AND off the mat. It really is a complete lifestyle.
Honestly, any post that references Star Wars wins me over. Now I want to pick up yoga with my fiance… I just might have to. Thanks for the post!
I’ve found doing yoga with a significant other to be SO enjoyable! You guys should totally give it a try together. 🙂
Go get your Yogi/Yoda on. May the force be with you. I can’t believe I just typed that. So. Much. Cheesy.
I do love the vest.
It’s a good thing you love cheese! 😉

Prana clothing is just gorgeous. One of my favorite pair of jeans is from them. But more importantly…so much relevance in your post. Much soul-searching happened while I was in Ohio, the result of which is: deleting FB and Twitter off of my phone and iPad; checking in on FB only once per day; blogging only when I feel like it; yoga once per day – even if it’s only a 15-minute practice; avoid the news. Ahhhh…..
Beautiful! This is simply lovely, I deleted FB many moons ago, never had a Twitter, but the one that grabs me is IG. I love looking at photos haha.
An Unrefined Vegan
Agree! I kept IG. It’s fun, quick, easy – and doesn’t suck up (in a bad way) my time as much as the others – or make me stressed out as FB does.
Great post! I can’t find a “like” button though. Am I missing it?
I love that jacket! I’ll have to check and see if I can find it here. Looks great!
Like button should be at the bottom, not sure why it’s not showing for you! Thanks for the comment though! 🙂
I am so with you on the importance of not letting our thoughts slip to the dark side! Love the Star Wars movie ticket picture, LOL!
I had too much fun setting that up. My younger brother had so many Legos!
I’ve been trying to set a daily intention that I physically write down. Forcing myself to put pen on paper solidifies the commitment to put that intention into practice. Now, it’s just training myself how to remember to pull out my book in the first place…
The pen to paper is so simple yet so powerful!
I have been thinking about stepping up my yoga game this year but even more so now!! Love the pic of your pose, love the outfit, love, love, love your post as always Brittany the force is definitely strong with you! Xo
Thank you my friend, a comment to make me smile per usual! 🙂

You know me. I am always manifesting the life I want but simply DOING WHAT I WANT. Easy as that.
And I have always been intrigued by Prana clothing but…. YOU HAVE SEEN MY CLOSET. I don’t need anymore work out clothing! LOL!
Who really NEEEEEEDS workout clothing? We should all just workout naked, it would save a lot of laundry. It would also motivate me to workout more. 😂
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy
I don’t blame you for not taking them off. You can’t go wrong with a good pair of yoga pants and a hoody – I practically live in those.
Story of my life. 🙈
If ANYONE is a jedi, you are.
I manifest the life I want by knowing what makes me happy and setting goals to get me there. 🙂
Booya!!! You’re doing a great job at it!

“Hippie dippie vibes”–and THIS is why we are friends. Love this post and happy to hear you’re getting into the mindful world and doing yoga girl!
Getting your approval is like finding the golden ticket! 👍🏻

Those leggings are fabulous! I love the way they look! And I love that you are incorporating more yoga into your life. 🙂
Thank you friend!

Yay! I want to play with Star Wars’ toys with you!!!
Bahaha! My younger brother had Legos galore!
Reblogged this on wwwpalfitness.
Who said a jedi can’t be sexy anyway 🙂 I’ve started doing yoga for the first time in my life last week and it’s really though. I need more practise.
If I don’t do it for a while I need a lot of work…like right now. Haha.
Luv What You Do
Love the hippie dippie vibes! I try to put my intentions out in the universe too!
It’s a powerful practice!
Too funny, girl, I’ve been practicing the same the last few weeks. Trying to focus my thoughts where they need to be for me to be my best and making an effort to have more peace between thoughts.
It’s a constant work in progress for me, but a positive slope is still a slope in the right direction regardless of the angle!
Going for a run is usually great at helping me get on track and relax and settle my thoughts. Sometimes I’ll also write a quick list of positive intentions on a post-it at the beginning of the day and put it in my pocket, and then take a look again later if I need a reminder. Your yoga practice sounds great too, I want to do more of that also.
I love your list idea, I’ll have to try that!
