1. I’ve caught myself a dose of writers block. I want to share photos of my recent adventures, but I don’t have a segue that I’m happy with so that means I just have to jump into it, Early Morning Confession style.
2. While I enjoy rest and relaxation, I struggle sitting still. This has resulted in a handful of hikes during my current trip to Arizona.
3. I’ve enjoyed each adventure into the mountains with members of my family, and nothing beats discussing life, the future, and the color brown.
4. With these discussions comes a lot of reflecting on life.
5. Each winter when I visit Arizona my family and I watch a series of movies. Last year was a Marvel movie marathon, the year before was Harry Potter, and this year…Star Wars. Just when I thought I wasn’t a fan, I’ve succumb to the force.
6. While on a run I tried to grab a dime that was stuck in the road and I cracked the cement. I then saw a three armed gingerbread man.
7. Despite my failed attempt to grab the dime, I have found $0.32 on my trip thus far. I wonder how much of my plane ticket that covers.
8. I miss my bike, but have been taking advantage of some temporary wheels.
9. I start school next Monday. I have been in a cycle of start, stop, start, stop for years and I’m finally ready to finish. For real this time. 😉 More on this when I’m done.
10. My friend makes the most EPIC Katniss inspired cowl scarves, and I am so in love with them. I’ll be buying one, and I think you should too.
Q: What’s your confession?

What a beautiful adventure in Arizona! I’ve been there before – hated it. Only because I was playing a soccer tournament in the middle of summer though. True story – I got heat stroke in the championship game. Not fun, and we lost, but I did learn not to play soccer in Arizona during summer time, so there’s that.
Brittany
OHHH my gosh, was it outside!?! Not OK. Summer in Arizona is an entirely different world. I once went on a hike and puked because I was overheated/didn’t eat enough. You have to leave at like 4am to hike in the summer. No thanks!
kathy at more coffee, less talky
my husband was thrilled when it snowed here and he was chomping at the bit waiting for the morning so he can take out his fat bike on the trails. today it’s -15C and he was out there at 430am on the trails! that is a pretty cowl!!
Brittany
You husband has given the title badass an entirely new meaning.
AlexF
Brittany! I need one of those scarfs! Will your friend ship to Canada? Because it’s cold up here and I could use a wool hug, I mean Katniss scarf.. Also beautiful photos! Arizona is on my list of places to visit someday.
Brittany
She mails to Canandaland, but you’d have to pay for shipping. She does all sorts of scarves and special requests using legit wool/durable yarn depending on your preference. Send me an email and I’ll give you her info!

I dropped by Arizona in December when I ran the half in Laughlin. Loved it! My confession is that I hate mornings and would live in my PJs if it were humanly and professionally possible.
Brittany
December is the best time to visit AZ in my opinion. The temps are perfect!
whostardis
you found the mutant gingerbread man! you sure do find interesting things on your adventures, the most interesting thing i found was a sock one time. still loving those arizon pictures! those above cloud pictures are to die for!
Brittany
I really do find some bizarre things HAHA!
chris
Love those photos! The scenery out there looks awesome.
Brittany
Thank you! It is quite beautiful in spots!
Tania // Run to Radiance
Your photos ALWAYS make me want to get out in nature! i wish we had mountains to hike here in Dallas!! You are so cool girl!
Brittany
Aww thank you friend! Even a walk outside is great!
Allie Zottola
The many shades of the color brown in Arizona are beautiful! I love that you’re always out in nature. It inspires me to get out more and explore the world around me.
I’m glad to hear you’re a Star Wars fan! I haven’t seen any of the movies, but I’m sure I will eventually! Love your temporary wheels while in AZ! Cute!
I can’t wait to hear about school stuff!! YAY!
Brittany
The Star Wars fandom was completely unexpected. I just saw the new movie for the second time. 🙈
Deena
Hey! I’m starting school in a couple weeks too! But my start, stop cycle has never made it past the thought process. Love your pics… would love to visit AZ some day.
Brittany
Yahoooo for education! I keep telling myself it’s never too late.
Amy @ A Desert Girl
Good luck in school!
The Katniss scarf is awesome. Super cute and it looks so warm and cozy too.
Brittany
Doesn’t it?! I can’t wait to wrap up in one.
fionajarrett
Wow wow wow, amazing views. Would love to see Arizona from all the way up there. Big fan of Star Wars, welcome to the dark side!
Brittany
I’m an official fan!
Amy
I swear we really are twins… My brother and his best friend decided to have a mini Star Wars marathon this holiday break too!! (Which, of course, I wrote about in my next blog post to be published… I seem to be about a day behind you with the SAME topics! 😜) It looks like you had a wonderful trip to AZ, and I hope the weather cooperated! There’s something so serene about its stark, empty scenery, and I love how you captured it in your photos, especially the ones from your hikes!
Brittany
Oh my goodness, I am dying at this constant twinning hahah!!
Jade
Those scarves look amazing! Welcome to the Star Wars fandom. We have cookies and stuff.
Brittany
Omg I’m fully obsessed. Just saw the new one for the second time.
Shawna
beauteous pix, and those scarves are so sweet! also dig the gingerbread man you found. booyah for nature being so cool.
Brittany
Nature is my muse. 🙂
GiGi Eats Celebrities
Aw! That poor 3-armed Gingerbread Man probably gets picks on all the time 😦 You should just eat one of his arms… LOL! I wonder how tasty WOOD is??!
Lets be real. I eat everything. I have tried eating wood. LOL.
THAT kind of wood……..
Brittany
I haven’t eaten wood in many years. 😂
Becster
Love your photos! Arizona sure looks beautiful! I remember visiting Sedona once – was so gorgeous! I;m not a Star Wars convert – yet. Hubby’s working on it!
Brittany
Oh man, Sedona is a place in itself. What a beautiful spot!
Ellie
Going back to school? GIRL I’M CONSIDERING IT TOO! It’s kind of scary for me actually, because I am content with my life, but wonder if more is out there for me. I guess we’ll see what the cards are holding. What would you get a degree in?
Brittany
HA! Twins again. I actually want to move on from Starbucks so I need to finish school because they will pay for my degree. I’m getting a BS in communication through ASU! Whoop whoop! I’m actually excited this time, which hasn’t happened with my past attempts so hopefully that’s a good sign.
P
I love how you always find money on your adventures! I often see pennies when I go running, but lately that’s been about it, haha!
Brittany
I hope you pick them up! One day they’ll buy you a donut!
Jim Brennan
Love the mountains, love the lifestyle, enjoy the year, and keep moving forward.
Brittany
You got it! 🙂
Josh dV
Good looking stuff there. I do love me the color brown. There are just so many hues and when brown is prevalent it makes me appreciate the little patches of color that much more.
My confession: This am (approx 3am) Snookums woke me to go and snuggle her because she had a bad dream. As I stumbled sleepily from my bed I casually scratched my belly and my first immediate thought: “Hey my stomach feels pretty nice!”
I guess the workouts are paying off.
Brittany
BOOYA! What a great feeling. Well done.
Christina Does It All
So exciting that you’re going back to school! Yay you! Also #2 is totally me too. Restlessness for life giiiirrrrl. Also also I love that three armed gingerbread man. Pure art.
Brittany
Are in stump form. I love it. 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I’ve been thinking about going back and rematching all the first Star Wars movies, especially since I was probably a tad bit too young to know what was going on when I first saw them. And why do you never leave extra room in your suitcase so I can squeeze in and go with you on all your amazing hiking adventures? I did a little bit of dessert hiking in Nevada, but it was the middle of summer so it was too freaking hot. And I’m afraid of snakes 😯
Brittany
I totally had no idea the movies were that good. I vaguely remember watching them when I was younger, but didn’t know much else other than who the people were. Definitely worth rewatching! Summer Arizona hikes are ugly, you have to start at like 4am to beat the sun, and it’s still sweltering out.
Nicole
I love traveling to places that look different than the environment I’m used to. Would love to hike in Arizona one day!! 🙂
I’ve yet to watch the newer Star Wars movies, but I’m hearing that the newest one is really good. So I think a movie marathon is in my near future.
And I laughed at how you’re finding loose change to pay for your plane ticket. 😉 I’m thinking what a good idea, and I should have thought of that sooner!
Brittany
I was in no way a Star Wars fan until I watched the new one, and then felt compelled to watch the older ones, and then REWATCHED the new one again. HA.
anotherwisemonkey
That was a lovely post. My confession is that after only three hours sleep last night, due to excitement about future travel plans, I sacked off all commitments and declared today a duvet day! I got a blog post out of it, though…
Brittany
I fully support your sack of commitments! Happy future travels!
Heather
Super cute scarves… if only it got cold enough here to wear one. Good luck with school! Learn lots 😉 Confession- I ate 5 peppermint bark squares today when Kara was unconsoleable, followed by too many spoonfulls of almond butter. Ahhh emotional eating at it’s finest, haha.
Brittany
Oh girl, story of my life the last seven months. Thankfully I’ve discovered the trigger, and plan to fix it asap. As for Kara….I’d keep another jar of AB on deck just in case. 😉
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I’m glad you having a great vacation, full of relaxation and movement. Hey sometimes that’s the way people relax.
We saw Star Wars last weekend, and I loved it. It was fantastic and reminded me of my childhood. I miss the Ewoks though and hope they make an appearance in future films.
The cowl neck scarves are beautiful!
Brittany
My mom always gives me a hard time cause I never just “relax and sit still,” but I don’t like sitting still! Oh man Star Wars was so epic. I foresee Ewoks making a return.
familyrulesbyplainjane
The scarves are super cool!
The scarves are really great looking!
Brittany
I adore them!
Jess @hellotofit
Cheers to starting up again with classes!! I need to watch more of the older Star Wars movies. Saw the new one in theaters and enjoyed it!
Brittany
My thoughts exactly. Seeing the new one a little while ago triggered me to watch them all. Great decision!
lovehealcook
What part of Arizona did you visit? I’ll be heading there in about 2 weeks, didn’t know what clothes to pack!
Brittany
Glendale/Phoenix area. It’s chilly, so bring winter clothes. No parkas though, just s nice jacket and pants. When the sun is out it’s nice. Unless you’re going north, then bring your parka. 🙂
lovehealcook
Thanks! I’d love recommendations of any places you enjoyed 🙂
Brittany
What area will you be visiting?
lovehealcook
I’ll be phx/scottsdale
Brittany
Oh swell, lots to do in Scottsdale. For food I recommend True Food Kitchen for a fresh and fun meal. If you’re into hiking I enjoy visiting both Camelback mountain and Squaw Peak for a good climb. Otherwise I’m not a big help here, I just come to visit family and we keep it pretty low key. We went to see a show at the Herberger theatre which was fun, and lots of bike rides!
Brittany
Oh and if you’re into sports going to a Phoenix Coyotes came is always fun. Hockey!
mylittletablespoon
So many shares here: Also struggle to sit still. Also love hikes and the deep conversations they inevitably bring up. Star wars love also recently rekindled. And the stop and start of education? Hello – last 5 years of my life. But this time is the time for me, too. I’m excited for you!! Will you still be at the ‘bux?
Brittany
Love it! Yes I’ll still be at Starbucks because….they are paying for the entire degree! BOOYA!
Noemí
Yay, one more person who’s fallen in love with the force! 😀
Brittany
It cannot be denied any longer!
sweatyandfit
hahaha… you grabbed a dime and it cracked the cement? who ARE YOU?!
those cowl neck sweaters are amazing. i don’t think theyd be very work appropriate, but i would definitely rock one of those at home with a cup of tea and my bow & arrow
Brittany
I’m a beast, what can I say. 😝
rockmyvegansocks
Your writer’s block turned into a pretty darned good post! Love the pictures!! It’s so gorgeous – it looks like you had such a fun adventure =)
Brittany
Thank you! Adventures are endless!
Diane @ Life of Di.
Arizona is stunning! A different landscape than I’m used to but beautiful nonetheless. I still think I prefer the Pacific Northwest though – love all of those Redwood/Pine trees 🙂
Brittany
Agreed, nothing will ever trump my PNW landscapes.
BabetaRuns
I am in love with this scarf!!! How much are they and how much does it even cost to ship to Europe?
Brittany
They all vary in price, depending on material and time spent making. Usually around $80-$100 plus shipping!
BabetaRuns
And how does she do it with the fitting so I know that it would fit? 🙂
Brittany
Awaiting a reply from her! You can always email her and work through details if you’re interested! Message me if you want that! 🙂
Luv What You Do
Adorable scarves!!!
My confession…I am always so jealous of your hikes. The midwest is so flat : )
Brittany
Arizona is much flatter than what I’m used to, but still some climbs in the mix!

Your pictures are always gooooorgeous! I loved that dime in the road and the scarves are beautiful! I’ve been trying to get educated in Star Wars before I go see the new movie!
Brittany
Thank you! I will say you can follow along for the most part without seeing the old ones, but it definitely makes it more enjoyable to watch them all!
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy
I am not a fan of Star Wars either, but I haven’t watched it. I think I am worried about watching it in case I become obsessed with it like everyone else.
Brittany
Oh…you will. I was sucked in. Haha
Mellie Dee
I think I went to Arizona when I was like … 4 so I don’t remember much but I definitely have to go back after seeing those pictures! … love the katniss knits! … I only know how to make scarves and blankets… girl’s got skills!
Brittany
Girls got MAD skills, I can’t even make a coaster! 🙂
Rach @ This Italian Family
Those cowl scarves are fabulous! Your friend is super talented!
Brittany
She really is, I admire her ability to craft such fancy things.
Kayse
The fourth picture down, ahhhh! As soon as I saw it, I thought, ‘I want to paint that!’ Your friends cowl scarf skills are amazing! I learned how to knit five years ago, and all I can knit is squares and rectangles.. She’s got some talent!
Brittany
PAINT IT!!!
Kayse
I’ll add it to my list! 🙂

Arizona is such a great place. My confession is that I’m still in pyjama and that I should hurry up and do something with my day 🙂
Brittany
I wish I were in pjs, I’m at work drinking coffee though so that’s nice.
