  • May the Life Force Be with You

Posted at 7:00 AM by Brittany, on January 11, 2016

“Prana (प्राण, prāṇa) is the Sanskrit word for “life force” and the term refers collectively to all cosmic energy, permeating the universe on all levels.”

Have you ever stopped to sit with your thoughts? No distractions, no deadlines, no where to be, just you and your brain noise. I’ve been more in touch with my thoughts lately than I ever have been, both good and bad.

This energy pull within the universe can be controlled simply by the manifestations you project within your own head. My goal for 2016 was to honor my thoughts and focus more on paying attention to them, and so far I’m off to a good start.

    img_6686

As I watched the Star Wars movies with my family in Arizona the last couple weeks (I’m back home now) I realized this principle of “controlling” your mind made its way to the big screen back in 1977 when the movies were first released.

In order to be a successful Jedi, one must be aware their thoughts to prevent them from slipping over to the dark side. When we let our negative thoughts take over, life becomes somewhat of a spiral. If only we all had someone like Yoda to fall back on.

    img_6669

    I’m Brittany, and I’m 12 yrs old.

Jedi’s remind me of Yogis in a way. Both have a peaceful way about them and enjoy helping others. I’ve been going through a bit of an odd spot in my life lately where I’ve had to work hard to ensure my thoughts stay on track. To facilitate this process I’ve been trying to become a Jedi incorporate more yoga into my days.

    1538900_234535586718691_2122204467_n (1)

To be a Jedi, one must have the proper gear. I took it upon myself to ensure I’m bundled and ready to get my zen on with none other than prAna clothing company. With a mission to inspire healthy, active, and free-spirited living, I knew I had to get myself some of their clothes. The holidays may be over, but sale items stop for no one.

I’m usually all about comfort without caring about style, but with prAna the two worlds collide. Just like a Jedi and a Yogi. I’ve clearly been bitten by the Star Wars bug.

    W1AVAV315_GRAVEL_G_ALT_2
    w4ergo315_black_l
    W4ERGO315_BLACK_G_ALT_2

I fell in love with these two items and haven’t taken them off. So soft, so cozy, fit like a glove, and perfect for work and play. A company that seeks out sustainable ways of life for products and people just screams positive vibes.

Prana means life force, Jedi mind mastering uses the force, and when combined to ensure a happy and healthy life I leave you with this: may the life force be with you.

Q: How do you practice manifesting a life you want? I’m all about the hippie dippie vibes. Manifest your destiny, and life follows somewhere behind.

Such a creative post – love it. I must admit, I’d probably be on the dark side so dang fast. I have a hard time from becoming a pit of an Eeyore some days…the dark side would snatch me up quick!! 😉 I love this gear though – super cute!

love your yoga pose pic, its magazine worthy! I really enjoy yoga but more for the calming of the mind thing. sometimes my mind is going a million miles a minute and yoga helps me calm it, plus runners need us some yoga 🙂

Thank you! I agree, it’s a total mind practice and until you really capture the entire spirit, mind, AND body together, yoga seems incomplete. Must have them all! Stretches are great for running!

Brittany, I really enjoyed this post! I was nine when the first Star Wars came out and saw it with my sister. We recently saw the new Star Wars together with her 20-year-old son. She raised him on Star Wars and Star Trek, and happened to have the first three movies on VHS, sans CGI enhancements that the remastered DVD versions have. Of course we had to watch this groundbreaking trilogy to complete our marathon. The newer episodes 1-3 don’t compare!
I’m with you on yoga helping to keep you away from the dark side. Whenever I’m feeling grouchy, I hit the yoga mat. Yoga has become a daily habit that I look forward to doing every day, and in March I will start my teacher training. Its a big part of my Intentions for 2016. http://thecaminoprovides.com/2016/01/06/intentions-for-2016/
The force is strong in you too. 🙂
      Namaste.

My family and I watched one of the older movies (I think what would now be considered episode four) on VHS, and MAN what a difference the new quality makes. I admit watching it on VHS really added to the overall experience though. How wonderful about your upcoming training, I hope you discover many great things! Thank you for the nice comment. ☺️

Ok. I’m in love with this. I want to be a Jedi toooooo!!! :))) Lately I feel like taking a look at the bigger picture of life and what truly makes me happy has helped me start to create a life I want. More travel, more of this, less of that, being with people who bring me the most joy. Getting older helps.

Excellent post! Allow me to offer a dissenting opinion however.

I would say that trying to “control” my thoughts and feelings is what brings us further to the dark side and away from serenity. If I grab onto that emotion and try to change it or make it the way I want it to be that’s where friction and unease instability come into play.

However when I observe the thought or emotion and allow myself to feel it, experience it and let it go, then I am able to serenely learn what that particular experience was trying to teach me about myself.

I think Jedi’s are subtle and fluid, whereas Sith are forceful and aggressive. Like yogis and cross-fitters.

      That being said: great pants!

This post is awesome. I, being a huge nerd, definitely incorporate yoga and other exercise into my daily life probably because of weird inspirations from Star Wars and my other nerd fandoms.

It is so important to pay attention to our feelings and our minds and listen to our bodies. I think it’s easy to forget to do that in today’s fast paced society.

Also, that outfit looks ridiculously comfy and I think I need it.

Prana clothing is just gorgeous. One of my favorite pair of jeans is from them. But more importantly…so much relevance in your post. Much soul-searching happened while I was in Ohio, the result of which is: deleting FB and Twitter off of my phone and iPad; checking in on FB only once per day; blogging only when I feel like it; yoga once per day – even if it’s only a 15-minute practice; avoid the news. Ahhhh…..

Going for a run is usually great at helping me get on track and relax and settle my thoughts. Sometimes I’ll also write a quick list of positive intentions on a post-it at the beginning of the day and put it in my pocket, and then take a look again later if I need a reminder. Your yoga practice sounds great too, I want to do more of that also.
