It’s cold. Not Midwest cold, but IT’S COLD!
The drop in temps has resulted in any running being swapped out for spin classes and a Jillian Michaels DVD. I’m being a wuss and staying inside.
I follow a good number of people on Instagram that lift weights. They are toned, tiny, and pack away a solid amount of “comfort foods.” I on the other hand lift nothing but my cats, and the occasional cookie to my mouth. After seeing bowls of nut butter cereal cookies with ice cream and so on, I decided to make my own version.
I took my morning oats and jazzed them up a bit with some toppings.
Whole grain oats with pumpkin, cinnamon, a blob of peanut butter, and CINNAMON PUFFINS! How I’ve never experienced this cereal is beyond me, this is my new favorite breakfast combo. This is as crazy as I get though, the thought of eating Oreo’s everyday makes my brain go into a diabetic coma.
I also lift 5lb bags of coffee daily, real talk.
Speaking of coffee, I was so jazzed by a coffee tasting my coworker put together. I delegate one barista a week to do a coffee tasting with the crew in an attempt to broaden coffee knowledge. This barista took it to the next level and I was so proud.
He made a poster board, and bought VEGAN cinnamon donuts from a Seattle company to pair with Christmas Blend. I usually have to make my own treats for tastings, so this was a real treat having him buy something Brittany friendly.
Terrible paragraph transition in 3…2..1…I discussed my love for curled up chips a few posts back and discovered many of you also enjoy the curled chips. I thought about how genius it would be to create an entire bag that was just curled chips.
Well, Target stole my idea. Rude.
I “lifted” this entire bag to my face in less than 2 days. So good. Also good…
Q: Is it cold yet where you are? Did I mention how excited I am to escape to Arizona next month!? GIVEMEHEAT

It has gotten just cool enough to enjoy several cups of tea yesterday. I lifted about 5 cups of tea yesterday 🙂 I like the cold, but I get cold easily!
Ooh! Cinnamon Puffins are delicious. It’s been a long times since I had some.
Feasting on Sunshine
Fun post! I’m in Fed Way Wa so I know the cold you feel. Just wanna curl up with a book and EAT!!
I have been known to lift weights but now am happily stuck on TRX classes where the only weight I lift is my own body weight. It is working for me. I learnt how to blend coffees while on holiday in Canada and love to mix and match blends, your spicy Christmas blend does sound good.
Uuuugh it is so cold here by my standards. I workout outside and I’m dreading it this winter. I may need to pick up a JM dvd myself. I can do 100 burpees in 100 degree heat, but Do Not ask me to run any length in any temperature under 55. Not happening. At least not well.
When I read your posts and feel as if I’m speaking to someone so very similar to me! Especially the weird paragraph transitions, because talking about loads of things is fun!
Aww, I love that! 🙂
Yes, Britt, is is cold in Syracuse, N.Y. Snowing a bit, too. Brrrrr.
It is very cold here in SC (currently 37 but feels like 31)…trying to see if it’s going to warm up just a little bit before hitting the pavement for my long run of 14 miles…so not looking forward to it…wish I could ‘lift’ a cupcake or something else bad for me instead :).
I do not envy you…but I do envy your post run endorphins!! I hope your run went well.
Hey Brittany!!! I felt great during my run…but the overall run sucked…because my watch stopped on me several times….see I’m all about that pace about that pace…but still I ran 🙂
It is bone-chilling cold here in TN! It went from a nice 50-60 degrees to the freaking teens and 20s in no time FLAT. I had to break out my running tights for my run Tuesday night when it was 26 degrees, and it still took me two hours in my fleece lounge pants, fuzzy robe, and fluffy blanket to completely thaw out!
It is chilly in MN, but since I’m cozy inside… it isn’t so bad! Especially since last winter was a lot chiller. So cool about the coffee tasting — how fun! I am dreaming of trying that nog soon. But since we don’t have any close by, I’m settling on the So Delicious coconut milk Nog that I bought last night… =)
You already know how I feel about your adorable posts (love them all) and about YOU in gen (want to be besties) so I won’t continue to comment on how much I enjoy all your posts. 🙂 That pumpkin cinnamon puffins bowl looks amazingggg (I’d add pumpkin Chobani to mine) and I love all those things. Yes to curly chips too, and lots of coffee. BUT I doooo lift. Hope that difference doesn’t come btwn us. 🙂 happy weekend, baybay!
I could never put a wedge between our BFF status. In fact, I would lift WITH you..because then I would at least have someone telling me how. HAHA.
Apparently this weekend in “national hate Florida” weekend. It’s in the glorious 70s here still. Although next week we are supposed to have a cold front move in.
It’s soooooo cold here. It was three below when I got up today. I’ve been lifting my camera to get pictures of the foot and a half of snow 🙂
Cinnamon Puffins on oatmeal?!?!! Yummmmm.
you’ve never seen those cinnamon puff cereals because I would let you eat that sugar filled crud. NOOOO don’t go to the dark side. 🙂
I meant, I WOULDN’T let you eat that. This blog doesn’t have an edit button. 😦
This isn’t the sugar filled crud, yes you would! You bought me cinnamon toast crunch. This cereal is much better.
Um wtf-ing almond nog? I need it in my life. And you should’ve patented the curled up chip idea. I would’ve supported your kick starter campaign fully. Although going to target sounds a lot easier 🙂 Happy weekend!
Laura @ the gluten-free treadmill
I don’t lift either, but I do live (e.g. My backpack is heavy, especially when I’m carrying two laptops)!
It’s been a little chilly here in SE TX, but I think it will warm up at the end of the week – just in time for my trail race!
It’s dipping below 65 in LA and it feels as though I’m freezing! Haha, I know that’s nothing compared to other places right now!!
Puffins are the bomb and HOLY CRAP HOW DID I NOT KNOW THEY MADE NOT FROM ALMOND MILK?!
It is getting chilly here in NY as well! We’ve had snow sticking and heat getting turned up. I have been inside on the treadmill a lot but am trying to plan runs outside with friends so I keep the outside going. I don’t like egg nog much, is that holiday nog of the same taste?
It’s MUCH more mild than traditional eggnog. I didn’t care for eggnog much myself because it was way too thick and coated my mouth in a nasty way. This is lighter, but with similar holiday spices. If you REALLY don’t like eggnog then I would say maybe not so much, but if you’re up for it I would try one of the seasonal nog’s. They make many brands and milks!
43C (109F) here in sunny Queensland. I’m sweating a bucket. I have been know to lift quite a few foods and drinks to my mouth but never actual weights. Loved your post. 🙂
You get to go to Arizona next month? I am so jealous! It’s so cold here. I walked home an hour ago and my legs are still cold!
It JUST got cold this past week… As in 65° during the day and 40° at night. But… Seeing as I have to take our little dog on multiple walks every night to go potty (oh the joys of apartment life), I’m SO over it already. Is spring here yet?? (Or will you bring me in your suitcase to AZ??)
Ohh my friend, it’s in the 20’s when I wake up and maxes out in the low 40’s!! Thankfully we’ve been having sunshine which helps, but with no cloud cover it’s COLD! Please send your “chilly” 65 degree days my way! Better yet, let’s just go to AZ. 🙂
I feel ya on the dog walks. I’m only doing this for 2 weeks, but I no longer think about having a dog like I mentioned in my last post. Still too much work. I DON’T WANT TO walk when it’s 20 degrees out! HAA.
Khushboo Thadani (@KhushbooThadani)
Oh my gah, I want to fall into a bowl of those Puffins- YUM! The temperatures have cooled down here but I think y’all in Seattle would have a laugh- it’s cool for Mumbai standards but summer for the rest of the world haha!
kathy @ vodka and soda
um, i’ve been wearing my winter coat since nov 1 😦
My nose is running. Does that count? My kids all beat me playing a game in our taekwondo class. In the end I paid dearly — more than 120 push-ups. That will count as my “lifting” for the week.
Seeee, I lift and I have no idea how people eat that much! Oreos every day makes me wanna vom. I’d gain 10 pounds in like 2 days no matter how much i was lifting if i ate like that haha

Snowing today – first of the season. Can I stow away in your luggage when you head to Arizona??
Christina Does It All
Lifting 5 pound bags of coffee is pretty legit in my book, yo.
Matt @ Runner Savvy
Lol no lifting here either.
It’s definitely starting to get chilly, here in VA! Love the idea of a coffee tasting, and that breakfast bowl you pictured looks SO yummy. Thanks for sharing!!
I just started lifting-ish. Lifting my butt off the couch to go to the kitchen HA. Just kidding, I actually have been going to the gym more often but what I do there is hardly called lifting haha. And holy yumminess on that cinnamon!
I don’t really LIFT, but I do strength classes. I’d rather lift pizza to be honest..haha…that bag of chips is genius! Next time you have an idea like that, don’t wait.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That was your first time trying Puffins?! Whaaaaat? They’re like one of my favourite cereals! And I have to say that it males my allergy-ridden heart happy that you chose to go with cinnamon and not peanut butter 😛
Oh, and yes… yes it’s cold here.
Pretty Little Mama
Almond EggNog!! Yes. Please.
Pretty Little Mama
And no. It’s hot. I am dying. Can I just wear some cute boots and a scarf yet?! Loved your post!
Heather @ HeatherRunsFast.com
Must find that egg nog! Love that it’s almond milk, what what! It’s supposed to 80 degrees today. How’s that for winter temps, sigh. The warm weather is supposed to bring a cold front, so we’ll see… I hope that barista of your gets a spot bonus for being so awesome with their pairing. And Target is just plain awesome, although, you could’ve made millions from that idea. All the lifting I do is in Body Pump. I’m obsessed.
Lauren @ ihadabiglunch
Almond milk eggnog? How is it?? I’d love to try it! I love to lift only because of the results haha. I feel so great if I feel strong. And those vegan cinnamon donuts……swoon
It’s good!! MUCH more mild than traditional eggnog and not thick at all. Which I dig. I’ve also tried the So Delicious Soy eggnog which is legggittt too.
oh gosh, lifting intimidates me! i’m always inspired by the tiny types that get it-done with the heavy ones, but i’m not quite sure how to get there. my plan for now? don’t worry about it. my plan if you guide me? get started 🙂
Well I’m sure you know by now what I think of lifting 😉 GIVE ME ALL THE MUSCLES!
And that egg nog too please 🙂
Vegan cinnamon donuts?! 😀
You betcha, they are the best donuts I’ve ever had. Thank you Seattle. 🙂
Oooh I love Califia Farms and need to find this flavor of their almond milk! Yesss Puffins are awesome!! And ha, I snorted at you saying that all you lift is your cats 😉
Egg nog in oats? Pure genius.
My lifting involves all the food I get on the reg from my car inside my condo. LOL. Yeah… that’s about it.
Brittany, you are awesome. I’m thinking of getting a cat, or maybe two, one for each arm, and stopping all strength training. I like this idea. Thanks for stopping by. -Susie
Get two!! 😉
It’s cold and it’s snowy and I’ve officially started having to defrost my car in the mornings… take me to Arizona with you!!!!
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy
Lol, I did laugh at your saying you lift nothing but your cats!
Oh yes, it is COLD here in Pittsburgh! It’s -2 degrees with the windchill. BRR! I like your lifting references in this post, haha. I am jealous of those curled chips and dairy free egg nog!! Also, how sweet of your co-worker to bring in Brittany-friendly treats with his coffee tasting!
I almost bought those curled chips! Going back to get them!!
GET THEM! Be prepared for a salt overload though, they were a BIT too salty for me.

Cinnamon puffins? Just another reason I want to visit the US!
The Vegan 8
I’ve tried cinnamon puffins before and they are so delicous! omg, that was so nice of him to bring vegan donuts, awesome dude!! Yes, it’s cold here in Texas, not terribly cold, but then again I don’t like much below 40-50…then I start crying like a baby!! LOL! Have fun in Arizona, I’ve never been there and have always wanted to go!
Rach @ This Italian Family
I go through kicks where I eat oatmeal all the time, but I’ve been off that kick for months now. But when I saw your bowl up there it just hit me again that I’m ready to have some oats back in my life. YUM!
