I had the pleasure of spending last Thurs-Mon with a dear friend I met through blogging. Lily and I became friends through blogging wayyy back when this little blog first started, and our friendship has blossomed more and more as each day passes. I went to her wedding before we actually met in person, because blogging has a magical way of bringing people together.
When deciding what to squeeze into the few days she was here, this is what I came up with.
Hiking
A four mile hike in the heart of the Olympic Mountains. The views were stunning as per usual.
Playing Tourist
I took Lily to Pike Place Market for baked goods (for both), beer (for her), coffee (for me), salmon (for her), and a day of Seattle exploration. I also got a cookie the size of Texas to split.
Half Marathoning
We both ran the Poulsbo half marathon. A separate post dedicated to this race will come later this week, but I’ll just say the race was fantastic, and Lily got 2nd female overall. She is a beast.
Coffee Dates
Lily humored my love for coffee and went on multiple coffee/tea/beer dates with me. I got coffee every time because I am a square and I like square things. Like black coffee.
Random Activities
CliffsNotes Version: We ate, we drank, we laughed, we hiked, we ran, and we explored.
A fantastic weekend with fantastic company.
Q: Have you made any friends through blogging? I’ve made a handful of solid friends that I cannot imagine my life without!

Haha I love the haunted house. I have done gingerbread houses at Christmas, but not thought to do something similar for Halloween. Fun!
apartmentwife
you built a haunted house! ha, i love it 🙂 what i love more than that? your blogging friendship with lily- seems so genuine, and i can tell y’all had a great time (might just make me wish i was there, but, ya know, i can dream).

Our time will come, I have no doubts about it!

charissarunning
Congrats on the half marathon and fun with your friend. That hiking view is just amazing and your haunted house is wonderful!! I haven’t been blogging long but I already love the support and encouragement it has started to offer me. And if I ever make it to the Seattle area one day, I’ll let you know! I hadn’t even been to the West Coast till my vacation in San Francisco last week!
Ashley @MilesonOats
Oh my, I think you are naturally and absolutely STUNNING. Yes, I have made 3 “real life” friends through blogging in Chicago and all my blends I met at the retreat last year that I stay in touch with from time to time. I could not imagine my life without my blogging friends. It’s just a whole different level of acceptance and understanding. Plus, I met you – right?! haha 🙂
Brittany
Well, I think you are too kind for your own good!! I suppose it TAKES a stunning beauty to recognize one, yes?
The Vegan 8
That haunted house is hilarious!! But that huge cookie looks amazing! That’s super cool you get to meet and hang out! You are so lucky to get to hang out with so many bloggers.
Change of Pace
Sounds so awesome, and what a great hike to take her on!
Lol- funny about the 50/50 vegan food success rate 🙂 Glad the race went well for you both! Looking forward to hearing more!
Rach @ This Italian Family
Ahhh! How fun!! I really want to come visit you now! Well, except for the running part. You won’t make me do that will you? Can we just hike instead? 😉 Glad you ladies had fun! 🙂
Brittany
I would never force you to run, I would much rather get lost (but not really lost) in the mountains with you!! ❤
Rach @ This Italian Family
Let’s do it!! I am amazed by the scenery on all your hiking adventures that you share. It makes me want to go with you so much! 🙂

di @ life of di.
1) If only we lived closer or 2) I visited the PNW more often I would LOVE to pop around town with you! Everything you girls did is right up my alley 🙂 Also – I LOVE the little Halloween house. It may not look the best but I think that’s what I love the most about it!
Heather
What a fun girls weekend! Good eats and good running are the makings for a perfect weekend for sure! That cookie. Get in muh belly! Interesting take on a gingerbread house, haha
Matt @ Runner Savvy
I’ve made some great friends through blogging! I’m sad I don’t have time for it anymore 😦
Brittany
I keep checking your blog for an update!! Life come first though, I’m glad you still have time to comment, always appreciated! 🙂
Ellie
I’ve made a few friends from blogging that have given me a lot of great advice. I think the great thing about blogging friends is that you don’t have to make set “plans” or anything. You give each other feedback and friendship through posts. Being semi-accountable is freeing because you know if you don’t post you wont lose a friend, but if you do it will make your friendship richer.
GiGi Eats Celebrities
I can’t EVEN with that cookie! If we were deserted on an island with that cookie, no we wouldn’t eat it, we would use it as a flotation device… But then I feel like you might start noshing on it and FUCK OUR ESCAPE UPPPP! ha ha ah ah aha ha ha! Thankss B!
PS: You do know that if I were engaged, and we had yet to meet, you would probably be my maid of honor? And I would dress you in your very own pink and purple with blue sparkling tutu… And a shell bra. Because I want my wedding to be full of CLASS CLASS CLASS!
Arman @ thebigmansworld
It would be classier without the shell. Just sayin’
GiGi Eats Celebrities
You will learn very very quickly that GiGi = NOT CLASSY!
Brittany
Yea you can’t leave cookies around me and expect them to last. HAHA. We would surely drown. I would go with Arman’s idea of no shell…but….I need all the support I can get.
Melanie
That is so great that you’ve made such a great friend through blogging. I love it! Those pictures of the mountains and clouds are unreal. LOVE THEM! I also love that giant cookie!!!
P
You seem like you are an awesome hostess! If I am ever in Washington, I will certainly be knocking at your door (but first spamming your inbox, haha).
Amy
Wait… You’re supposed to split a cookie that size? I always ate the whole thing! Whoops… 😉 So glad you had fun with your blogging friend! It makes me SO excited to visit you someday. And P.S. I LOVE that top you ran the race in!! Where’d you find it???
Brittany
Oh trust me, I could have EASILY eaten that entire cookie. I thought it would be rude not to share so…I shared. Preschool manners taught me some things. My top is from Target!! I have three different colors because I loved it so much!! HA.
Amy
Those darn preschool manners… They always tell me I’m supposed to do that too, but then I get upset if the other person takes too much. 😉 How long ago did you get your top?? I now live less than a quarter of a mile from Target, so… If they still sell it, I’m buying out their entire inventory!
jessielovestorun
Is that a haunted gingerbread house? If so, what a fun idea. I’ve never seen anything like that… only Chrismas houses.
Brittany
Yes!! I had never seen a Halloween themed gingerbread house before this one. HA.
Khushboo Thadani (@KhushbooThadani)
Can I come visit- you sound like a great host! I promise to drink multiple cups of coffee with you :).
Excited for the half-marathon post- in the meanwhile, WAY TO GO!
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
Good friends can be hard to come by. You have to hang onto those when you find them, regardless of how you meet them. I’m glad you had a drinking buddy, even if you were consuming different things, and the haunted house is epic. I love it.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
So you’re saying that you’d take me to all the best coffee spots if I ever came to visit?! SOLD! I’d even drink black coffee with you every.single.time because it’s probably one of my favourite things in the world. And my favourite thing about blogging is probably all of the amazing connections I’ve made over the years. If only we weren’t scattered all over the place 😦
Brittany
Oh man, we would be drinking coffee EVERY morning and spending the rest of the day exploring the mountains. Can you please come so that I have an excuse to step away from reality again!?
foodielovesfitness
Looks like so much fun!! I’m a firm believer that as women, we simply NEED awesome girlfriends in our lives – especially ones that we might not see for awhile, but then we pick up right where we left off. I’ve been getting to spend time with my girlfriends from my home state of NJ since I’ve been staying with family here for a few weeks, and I’ve been having a blast!
Amy @ A Desert Girl
Oh my gosh, you guys had such an awesome weekend from the looks and sounds of it!! That haunted house is awesome. And that cookie – huge!
Food, Booze, & Baggage
You squeezed in all kinds of fun activities! I really want that Leafkicker Chai, it sounds SO good!
Lauren @ ihadabiglunch
Hahaha that haunted house is so…….terrible! hahahah you know I kid 😉 I think going to Pike Place Market is officially on my bucket list. That place looks magical. I haven’t made very many friends via the blog but that’s definitely my fault – I need to put more of an effort in. I would love to make more friends who have the same interests that I do! Fitness and Food FTW!
Miss Polkadot
Helloooo to your haunted house! I’ve only ever baked and decorated one for Christmas eons ago but yours looks perfectly fitting for the occasion – if you know what I mean, haha.
Can we become friends like 1-2-3 and then you’ll invite me over to hike that trail? Because the view is absolutely stunning. I’m a country bumpkin so nature wows me time and time again.
And yes, I’ve made a lot of friends through blogging but I’ve only met two of them before. If only they didn’t all live on others continents!
Aja
Haha, I like your cliff notes version at the end. I am always jealous of all your hikes.
Brittany
You live closer to a lot of the hikes than I do!! GO EXPLORE before the weather gets terrible. 🙂
Aja
I know! It irritates me that I’m so close and I don’t go! I’ll have to soon.
