Nature nourishes my soul. Fresh air, big trees, empty trails, all of it. Green is my favorite color, and the Washington mountains just so happen to flourishing with mossy green trees.
One final hurrah before my vacation to the east coast included an 8.6 mile hike through the Washington trees. Best idea ever. I’ve hiked this trail over 10 times now, but each time I go I find something new that captures my soul and takes my breath away.
This was just the adventure I needed to counteract all the baking I’ve been doing. For multiple reasons, one being justification. I completely justified eating cupcakes and cookies this past weekend! It’s all about balance, I like to earn my treats.
Conquering a mountain gives me a sense of accomplishment, like I’ve earned the body I have so graciously been given to live in. Also, nothing beats the view from the top.
To go along with the the nature theme, when I came home I ate the most epic meal out of the bowl I painted a couple weeks ago. It’s the perfect size, and I love it!
Did I mention I have a thing for trees..? 😉
Q: What nourishes your soul? Food and the great outdoors!

I wish there was hiking where I live. I’ve hiked on vacation and just love it. Your bowl is adorable and everything inside it looks so yum!

The pictures from your hikes are always so beautiful! It has been really cold here in lexington but I have been able to enjoy my Saturday long runs outside. Enjoying the beautiful weather sounds like the perfect way to earn cupcakes 🙂

Where on the east coast are you headed to? Way to earn your treats! Love the bowl too! I’m not going to even attempt to bake anything you feature but I think even I could handle filling a bowl with the items you have in yours. LOL.

I went to DC/Virginia/Detroit!

The meal looks delicious!! So hearty. And that bowl looks good enough to eat out of. 🙂
Hiking in the PNW is so fresh and awe-inspiring! I loved my hiking experiences there. Gorgeous photos!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
The mountains, without a doubt. Anytime I’m up there, I feel a peace that I don’t feel anywhere else. I swear that one day I’m gonna pack my things and move to a small little town somewhere in the mountains. Ugh. Would be a dream come true.

For the millionth time, WHY DON”T I HAVE HIKING TRAILS LIKE THIS AROUND ME?! Oh right, I live in the arctic.
Amy
This is the perfect post to usher in spring!! A gorgeous hike with breathtaking scenery, full of green and green and more green… Followed by cupcakes. Perfect weekend for a lovely girl! 🙂 If only we had some good hiking trails nearby; I live in practically the flattest city known to mankind. Literally. When I was training for that relay running race in Oregon — which actually DOES have hills — I ran over a couple of freeway overpasses in town to get my glutes in shape. Truth!

Solitude. Quiet. A great book. An equally comforting meal. Huddled up close to the fireplace. Huddled up close to the a Hubby. Weeding my flower beds. Farmers marketing. Playing tag with my felines. Exercise.
Guess I got a little carried away there. Maybe I should do a post on the topic too.
I love that nature nourishes your soul. I bet dancing with hippies in the middle of a street, in a quiet town helps too.

Awkward hand placement…I literally laughed out load and spit coffee all over the place! Love it!

I’m forever jealous of where you live! So beautiful. Oklahoma is so.. flat. I’m longing for a vacation somewhere I can hike and explore, but it might be quite a while before that can happen with a little beebee.

Gosh this is gorgeous. Nature is such a wonderful thing to experience, and its definitely one of my favorite things to do. Up at my Daddys, theres this camp site/river that we always used to go to. Daddy would stick by the camp and I would just go and get lost along the river. I would swim upstream until I found an opening, then climb out and walk along the banks until I couldn’t anymore, then float back to my dad. It literally was my favorite thing to do every summer 🙂

My doggy-son, Ikey, nourishes my soul. And our long walks in the woods and pastures.

My dear friend, not only do you have such a beautiful outlook on life but the photos you take leave me breathless.
What nourishes my soul? Seeing others filled w/ happiness. To me, there is nothing better than seeing a smile on someones face, hearing them laugh, or see a spark of love in their eyes.

Love your bowl! And the awkward hand placement. Awkwardness for the win 🙂
I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this, but Washington has always been on my traveling bucket list! People in my family are always like whaaa? Why not California? But Washington is just SO beautiful (from what I’ve seen/heard) and GREEN! You are very lucky to live somewhere so gorgeous!
Sarah @ Feeeding the Brain and Body
Green is my favorite color too! Being outside definitely nourishes my soul. That, good food, and good company are the makings of a Happy me. 🙂 love that bowl! Not only the actual bowl but also it’s contents!

That view is beautiful, you are beautiful-so much beauty!
and I’m in love with that bowl that you painted. I need this crap winter to end so I can get outside. I think my soul and mind really really need it.
Come to Wisconsin 😉

Your bravery is one of my favorite things about this blog. Your willingness to go out and find adventures is inspiring, and I love seeing the pictures! Thank you for sharing!
Meghan @ fitnesscrEATures
Washington is just such a gorgeous state – and you’re so lucky you get to explore it the way you do! Not enough people take advantage of that kind of natural goodness in my opinion and you definitely have people beat!
Love that bowl girl – make me one next time. But mine won’t be filled with healthy food – more likely it will be filled with ice cream and cookies. 🙂
Lauren @ ihadabiglunch
That bowl is so gorgeous! Also this might sound ignorant but I had no idea that Washington was such a remarkable state! “Conquering a mountain gives me a sense of accomplishment, like I’ve earned the body I have so graciously been given to live in.” Beautiful sentiment 🙂

Oh those views are gorgeous!!! I need a mountain hike in my life this year….Green is my fave too! 😉

Your bun is so cute! And I love your red jacket. Nature does crazy good things for you mind/body/soul. I went for a long walk this morning, and it was the best thing I could’ve done. It didn’t have quite the views your hike did, but it was so much fun!

I love nature too, so beautiful and I love that view of you looking out. But I especially love the awkward hand, lol!! Those cupcakes of course have me drooling too!!
