…must come down. That’s what I kept telling myself yesterday morning while I was dying running like a gazelle up a hill for over half my run. I recently bought myself a brand spankin’ new pair of running shoes and I was so jazzed to take them out for a run!
This was the first time I was able to somewhat choose what my shoes looked like. Don’t get me wrong, I will run in shoes that look like your grandmas curtains as long as they are good for my legs, but this time I decided to try something flashy.
My knees were starting to bother me on my runs which let me know it was time for a new pair of shoes. For some reason I get a slight twinge of sadness when it’s time to retire a pair of running shoes. Those shoes are with me for miles upon miles, and shoving them in the closet just doesn’t seem fair. Sadly the style of shoe I had been running in for over a year is no longer manufactured. After a quick e-mail to Asics, I decided on the Gel-Cumulus 15.
Of all the color schemes I had to choose from, this one was my favorite. I was a bit nervous because I ordered these online without trying them on first. Thankfully after taking them out for a run I love them! Despite the HILLY run, I felt like I was running on clouds.

And just like that, I wrote an entire post about shoes. I guess I was excited! Long story short, I bought new kicks and they rock my world. I think my favorite thing about these shoes is that they deceive you from the front. Just like a mullet.

I get way too excited about new sneakers. I’m always sad when I have to get a new color, but I also never throw out my shoes so they are stockpiling in my closet. Whenever I’m feeling extra nostalgic, I just pull them out! The nice thing about buying sneakers online is that you know what you’re getting if you’ve worn them before. I know my size in various brands of shoes so it doesn’t bother me too much, but I’m hesitant to get something new that I haven’t tried before.

I am always scared to get shoes off of the internet because of fit! I know in certain companies I’m a 9.5 while others I’m an 8.5! Since you went with the same brand, though, I’m sure you wouldn’t fluctuate too much in the size! I really, really love the color combo of these too! I definitely would have chosen the same thing 😀

i KNEW those were asics just by looking at them. asics ARE THE BEST SHOES; i have 2 pairs (GT2000) and they are like angels caressing your feet as you run.
i can NOT buy shoes without trying them on; i have square fred flintstone feet and weird bones jutting out so i need to try on shoes before buying them.

UGH this heat needs to go. It was 90 here yesterday, and I just went on my run this afternoon because I had to work early today and it is 80 out..I AM A WHINER with the heat. GIVE ME SOME RAIN! HAHA! Can’t wait to see your new shoes! WHOO!

I like the colors of the shoes! The only workout item I bought online was actually a pair of shoes I already had. I needed a new pair and the pair i was running in had been discontinued but since they had a few left in storage I just ordered another pair of the exact same shoe! I think I would be nervous to order a running shoe online without trying it.

The brighter the better! That is what I always say. However, comfort is #1. I love asics. I have the Kayanos, so far I have no complaints.

Rofl loving the mullet analogy. But those are definitely some good looking shoes. I don’t buy much workout gear online, but then again… I don’t buy much of anything online. I really have no idea why either, since I’m not a big fan of the actual process of shopping, but for some reason I always get nervous that it won’t fit/look right and I’ll have to go through the hassle of returning it. My credit card is probably happy 😉

I just realized… I, ummmm, haven’t bought new running shoes in almost 2 years. 2 years!! I didn’t run for 8-10 months during that period because of mono, but still… I love my running shoes, my knees don’t bother me yet, so I can wait a little longer — right??

AHH 2 years!?!? HAHA! It’s good that your knees don’t hurt, but as a runner YOU SHOULD KNOW you are supposed to retire your shoes after they have been through around 600ish miles!! It’s ok though, I hang onto mine as long as I can. The first pair I bought I ran in for a year!! I started having knee issues so now I switch them out MUCH more frequently.

I know, I know… But I paid extra money for special insert soles that they molded to my feet, and they said that those soles make your shoes last longer. In theory. 😉 Hmm, maybe I’ll get new shoes once the weather turns cooler and I’ll need more motivation to run outside!

I research the hell out of shoes before I order them online! I go to like, every single website I can find that has customer reviews and scour them for sizing differences haha. I am a nut. But it works!

I’ll buy my shoes and apparel online if 1. I know it’ll fit (because I’ve worn that model/size/etc forever) or 2. if they have free returns. I’m really spoiled because Brooks takes care of me, but I have to vouch for their awesome online ordering system – free shipping on anything over $75, and a generated shipping label to return anything that doesn’t fit free of charge. So now, no harm in ordering two sizes of something or something “fun” that you just want to “see if it fits” 🙂

Haha love your mullet shoes. I buy almost everything online. It leads to a decent number of post office trips, but not too bad once I get used to a brand. And I try to shop mostly places that have free shipping & free returns!

New running shoes are one of those things right up there with big hugs, rainy days, baking something tasty, and travelling somewhere new. I’m absolutely over the moon whenever I get new kicks. I’m a shoe lover in general, but new running shoes is really the be all end all! Love your new shoes!

I love these shoes! And GIRL that is EXACTLY what I tell myself on brutal hill work – it must come down!!! YES! I loved my first pair of real running shoes that were Asics… When they were finally kaput, I had to, of course, get the same ones. I, too, was sad to discover they weren’t made still so I bought some other ridiculous Asics that I ended up trashing after about 2 months of hate for them. Moral of the story – I’m jealous you still get to have Asics that you love. Mine are forever gone and I’m holding a grudge. The end.
