Today I plan to get lost in nature. I’ve fallen into the habit of staring at the ground too much when I am outside. Part of this is due to the fact that I have an extreme fear of slugs (weird I know) and I am always on the look out for them. Warmer weather means no slugs and I have been challenging myself to look at the world around me whenever I am walking around outside. Sometimes something as simple as enjoying a walk around your area can be uplifting and rewarding. Maybe you’ll learn something about youself you never knew.
“I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.” George Washington Carver

What a peaceful post! I love all of these quotes and pictures…Makes me want to go for a trail walk/run, leave my ear buds behind, and just breathe 🙂

I love this! Pittsburgh, unfortunately, isn’t exceptionally beautiful in the nature department. But, we travelled to central coastal California in January and it was BEAUTIFUL. Mountains and oceans and estuaries and dunes and woods and all sorts of magical things.

Beautiful.
I love — LOVE — that Toni Morrison quote. So very profound.
Emotions and life have their way of making waves and ripples in the water of our minds and spirits. Yet we seek for that still calmness we recall.

I go to the beach where I spent my childhood summers to get lost. It never fails to make me feel both invigorated and at peace with my life and wherever I am at in it at that time. Great photography skills, everything looks very professional!
Amy @ A Desert Girl
Ah, this post – with the lovely pictures and quotes – made me feel peaceful. Thank you for that.
I love to get lost in my time on my family farm where I grew up. I feel like a kid again, and it’s wonderful.

I love all these pictures droooooooool….. slugs are gross. I cant blame you for not liking them.
I get lost in books. And on the lake! (that is the pirate side in me).
We should probably plan a trip where we both can get lost that involves a nature hike and then a lake swim! and no slugs. or leeches. ew.
Brittany
Yes please. Let’s do this. Books too, I am loving books right now. They keep me at peace!

I like to get lost in water. I feel like I was born to be in the water, so anytime I can go to the beach, lake, or just the pool I’m pretty much in heaven. I also get lost in my mind quite a bit lol
spectacuLAUR
I love all of the photos. SO pretty. I could definitely get lost anywhere with water, especially a beach. Did you get a new header or am I behind on the times? If so (or if not), I love it! Cupcakes, ftw!
Brittany
I did change my header! Thanks for noticing :). I wanted something new. I changed it last night so you are not behind at all!
pickyrunner
I was just wondering the same thing as lauren! I love that cupcake picture. I could get lost in nature, preferably by the ocean. I think running helps me get lost in nature- no technology, no distractions. I hope you enjoy your own time in nature!

That barn looks amazing! I would love to get lost there.

Enjoy! The weather is Columbus is gorgeous today too. I think nature really is the best place to get lost (especially in the beautiful places around your neck of the woods!)

I love me some nature 🙂 At a leadership getaway for my church one year we stayed in this cabin in the woods. We had “God time” where we just wandered out by ourselves (not too far!!) from the cabin and I just sat there for an hour on a tree stump listening to the birds and soaking in God’s glory and works. It was truly beautiful 🙂
Brittany
Your cabin in the woods sounds like the most amazingly peaceful place. Along with your “God time” I would give anything for that kind of get away right now! I suppose I can make my own though!
Courtney
These are lovely photos 🙂 I like to get lost wandering around Target… yes I’m from the suburbs, but it is so relaxing!! 😛

Wow all of these pics are breathtaking! I love the first one especially 🙂 Happy weekend girl!
Nicole @ FruitnFitness
These pictures are beautiful! I tend to get lost in the beautiful surroundings when taking the horses on long hacks (long walks with no purpose).
Erin
Beautiful pictures!! And Their is a frisbee golf park a couple of minutes away from where I live, and if you go back into the woods their is huge rocks over looking the water and a couple of awesome walk through caves..I love going there to get away and be by myself. You just have to fight off the high school kids that are getting stoned back there lol

Gorgeous pictures and great idea for a post!

Oh man, Britt, you are an amazing photographer! Hubby and I love breaking away from the city and getting lost in nature. Last weekend it was the Smoky Mountains but we love anywhere outside. Great post, great quotes, LOVE it!

Some beautiful photos here and quotes! I need to get out more and do some photography since I bought a better camera but I have no idea what I’m doing yet!

I want to come and get lost in nature with you!
Brittany
That would be wonderful, PLEASE DO! We can make s’mores and eat beans out of a can.
Sarah @ Feeeding the Brain and Body
I love all these quotes and pictures! I just got back from a week long vacation with no technology so I definitely feel the love of nature as I was absorbed in it the whole time!

I like to get lost (not literally though) kayaking on the Hillsborough River. The hubby and I bring a picnic lunch and just paddle all along the river seeing tons of wildlife and beautiful scenery… all while getting a nice tan 😉 Love the pics AND quotes!

I get lost in my brain a lot. Right now I am sitting atop a volcano that’s bubbling over with lava… However, I am in a suit that can withstand the heat of lava so I am perfectly fine!
Brennan
Beautiful! I think I’ll do this tomorrow. I’m gonna try to find a trail to explore. Thanks for the inspiration!
BTW, I started collecting change that I find on the ground. I have $0.34. Excellent!
Brittany
Best comment of the day!! I love everything about this. I hope you find a wonderful trail, AND I am so jazzed you have started collecting change. I am up to $4.50 I can’t believe it! WAHOO FREE MONEY! HAHA.
Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile
Beautiful!!! I absolutely love nature. It’s amazing.
Tessa @ Amazing Asset
Absolutely stunning pictures Brittany, nice and peaceful as well. Thank you for putting these together 🙂
Laura
I fear slugs too! Whenever it rains (which is often) they are everywhere. Slimy and all.
Thank-you for the beautiful photos and quotes. I love to ‘get lost’ in the woods, completely immersed in nature.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Love this so much. There’s nowhere I love being more than out in nature – the sights, the smells, the sounds… my soul just feels at ease. And I don’t blame you for the slug fear. I once went biking on a road where there were a tonne of little snails, and I seriously had to get off and walk because I couldn’t stand the thought of squishing them.
Meredith
love this post! i always tend to go sit on the ocean, or walk near it, to get lost. Nature does wonderful things for our souls. Enjoy your day : -)
Lucy @ Lucy On The Lookout
Beautiful photos! Do you actually run past views like that? If so, I’m totally jealous 😉 Though I can’t be too jealous as am lucky to have a pretty woodland close by to run around. I know what you mean about getting stuck in a rut with just staring at the ground on runs (what’s the fun in that?!) – I found that when I ban myself from playing music on at least one run a week this really helps me engage with what is going around with me 🙂 Have fun exploring!
Amalia
I love this. I’m challenging myself to a no screens day next weekend. I’m going to incorporate this! Head out for an hour or so and just walk. Maybe with my camera. 🙂
Looks beautiful.

Hi Brittany!
This is really beautiful. For me, it’s definitely the beach. I love to go there to “get lost.” I will even visit the ocean in winter, because I find it so peaceful. I also love being in upstate NY in the mountains. It’s so quiet and calm and you have so much peace to be alone with your thoughts and nature.

I love all the pretty outdoor photos and your header looks great. You changed it up, didn’t you?
Brittany
I did change it, you observant creature you!!! I hope you’re having a blast on vacation. I am WHOA jealous. Bring me next time..for real.

i love the first quote, it resonates within me.
i used to stare at the ground a lot when i walk, but one day a friend noticed that and said to me: look up, you’re missing out on the other half of the world.
Rach @ This Italian Family
These are such gorgeous pictures! I love them all!
