  • Who Needs a Car?

Posted at 9:57 AM by Brittany, on May 3, 2013

May 1st came and so did the spring weather. Spring season is the perfect time to be outside and move! I am not sorry to be breaking up with my treadmill for a while, and I have been enjoying many outdoor runs, and walks. Yesterday I ran to the farmers market to see about getting some fixings for dinner.

    20130503-090114

The market just opened for the season a couple of weeks ago and the pickings are pretty slim right now. Plenty of apples though!

    20130503-09012420130503-09015620130503-090134

Some of the Fuji apples were so big I mistook them for honeycrisps.

    Apples on steroids.

    Apples on steroids.

With empty bags I proceeded to walk to the store to find what I needed for dinner. If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen a sneak peak at what was for dinner. This meal was so delicious and I cannot wait to make it again. Post/recipe to come!

The rest of the weekend will be spent outdoors, baking, blogger meet ups, running, walking, BIKING (hopefully), and eating A LOT of food. Watermelons are back, time to get real with my spoon. No bowl necessary for watermelons. Happy weekend!

Q: Is it farmers market season where you live?

    b

All I eat are jumbo apples. They’re the best, actually though. I like pink ladys the most- honey crisp aren’t sweet enough for me! I want to go to a farmers market soon!

At SFSU, we have a farmer’s market on campus every Thursday (I guess except for the breaks). It’s always farmer’s market season in NorCal, haha.
YUM! I love Fuji apples (or any apples, really).

I love how you beat Manfriend by all of 5 seconds 😛 And holy wow apples on roids is right. But no Ambrosias 😦 I’m seriously missing those for making my applesauce. Not farmer’s market season around here yet, but hopefully soon! And try not to be jealous, but this girl’s been eating watermelon all winter long 😉

I love that you noticed that! HAHA! I mentioned that to him this morning, and in reality his watch auto stops and takes longer than mine. I manually stop mine so our time was the same, his just didn’t shut off until 5 seconds after we stopped. I do like to pretend I beat him though! 😉

We have Farmer’s Markets on Saturday mornings all year round! But from April til October, they also set up on Wednesday nights too. It’s really fun to grab dinner, sit in the park, and listen to the live music!

And HOLY COW I could make an entire apple pie with just ONE of those apples!! (P.S. Fujis are my favorite…)

ps – your garmin — there’s a built in gps right? ie. you don’t have to buy any extra accessory for the GPS?

Yessss to the Garmin question. The GPS is built in! I don’t run without the watch…I’ve named him Gary and we are best friends. As you can see from the picture my boyfriend and I have two different styles. I chose the Garmin 110 because it can be used as an everyday watch as well. As long as you don’t mind the manliness of the watch, which I don’t! They have lotsss of varieties though!

I keep checking for the farmer’s market that they have by my work on Friday afternoons to open…but nothing yet. I saw a good sign today though! One single and lonely vender was selling plants where the farmer’s market usually is. It must be coming soon! I also have the orientation to my CSA this weekend..stoked!

Our farmers markets have started up, and I am loving them because each week they get more and more produce. Yesterday, I went crazy and bought $9 worth of beets. Beet that (ha!).
By the way, I ordered the knee brace you blogged about awhile back and went for my first run in it last night. No pain, so it held up great. Max says Hi or really Meow, and I started following you on Instagram, so I’ll be sending lots of kitty pictures your way. 🙂
