One of my favorite bloggers, Shira, wrote a post a while ago about daily happiness. I decided to follow suit and make a list of my own simple things that bring me daily happiness. This list comes in handy for me on days that I feel down, bored, or just want to relax. It’s such a versatile list of things that can be done almost anytime, anywhere.
My list of happiness
- A good run.
- Pampering myself.
- A long walk outside with nature.
- Reading a book, or watching a movie.
- Making a good meal.
- Baking something new.
- Spending time with the ones I love.
- Making a craft.
- Doing something for someone else.
This list could go on and on and on…but I will stop with the top ten. Making yourself happy doesn’t have to be hard. Next time you want a jolt of happy juice adrenaline, think about what you can do to pick yourself up, or make yourself (or someone else) smile.
Q: What’s on your happy list?

Omg I used to watch that Disney video!
Alex @ therunwithin
I love your list of happiness, what a great idea. doing something for someone else is a big one for me too.
Brittany @ DulceVie
I love this 🙂 Baking always makes me happy too!
I have that soaking stuff, too! Just another thing in common besides the cats.
This is such a great list! People I love and running and family definitely bring me most of my happiness. I’ll have to remember this next time I’m feeling blah
This reminds me of that one book that I read ‘Reasons to be Happy’ by Katrina Kittle. You should read it.
Love this list… esp your facial expression during giving blood. Good thing Manfriend is not a vampire or a mosquito human.
I want to come visit and have you make me brusselsprout plates like whoa. They always look so tasty in your posts! Then we can run and fart together a lot because that is what happens when you eat little trees of fiber.
My list of happiness is basically yours, minus the cats and add stationary. I loooooove cards, letters, and all that stuff. I collect it like an old lady .
Please do that. Farting with another female is so different than farting with your boyfriend.
Aw, I love this post! Things that make me happy – random act of kindness, sparkly shoes, acting like a kid, neon colors, etc…
My happiness list includes reading your blog. Truly uplifting! Love you!!! 🙂
I like this post. Lets see things that make me happy… catching up on shows (Smash marathon? YES), 8 minute abs (makes me super happy), giving blood, running, finding sunshine, if sunshine is on carpet then napping on the carpet… good food, tonsil hockey, snuggling, wrestling with sasha, brushing jax (bc she hates it!!), yea it could go on!
swimming, PB&J, Glitter, laughing, a good book in the hot sauna, wine, SLEEP…..you are right this IS fun.
This post reminded me of that cute “things to do” popsicle stick you and the bf did….how is that going?
Ohh your comment has reminded me we need to draw another stick for a date night! We’ve only drawn one so far, and it was to go bowling. Well when we got to the alley it was completely full! Booooo so we went to dinner with old friends instead, that was fun too though!
Elmo and baking ❤
Angela @ Health's Angel
This is such a good idea! Being able to walk outside without a coat on is making me pretty happy today. 😉 Oh, and getting my car cleaned inside and out. I don’t know why but that always makes me ridiculously happy.
Change of Pace
I love your happy list! I think quite of few of your items are mine, too!
I think I’d add sunshine on my list! It can do wonders for my mood!
Alex @ Cookie Dough Katzen
Happy lists are the best. Yoga always makes me feel great too. I love driving home after a long yoga class and having a little peace and quiet. Best feeling!
aww I loved the positivity of this.
Friends and fam always makes me happy 🙂
running makes me feel VERY blessed for my life and health!
Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile
Love this!! 😀 I haven’t done Bikram in sooooo long. I miss it!
I love it! I need to do one of these. Basically everything you said makes me happy too! You also reminded me that I need to get ma bootay to yoga still. Why oh WHY can’t I bring myself to go. I’ll have to plan to go, take Amy, so that I am committed and cant back out!
foods for the soul
We’re practically twins! I have good runs, yoga, baking something new, spending time with my favorite people, and doing things for others on my list too. Also dark chocolate, cuddle time, photography, and meditating. To name a few. :]
Heather @ HeatherRunsFast.com
My “Happy List” could go on and on, too! I guess my top things would be running (duh!), my family, trying a new food, and froyo! I do love giving blood too… especially when you get a free movie ticket or gift card after 😉
The Savvy Sister
Honey said it best!! xxoo
One big thing on my “happy list” is seeing my puppy dogs! I am so excited because I finally get to go home this weekend and see them for the first time in 2 1/2 months! 🙂
Yea for your list! Often times we get so caught up in the big picture we forget to remember the little things that make us happy! For me lately it’s the warmer Spring temperatures & spending time with a good book 🙂 Have a fab week!
Lora @ Crazy Running Girl
Love your list!! I have those same Vibrams 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I can’t even tell you how much I adore this post – don’t be surprised if I ninja the happiness list idea and do a similar one! Some things that would definitely be on mine would be reading, baking (and eating the treats!!), walks outside, being lazy and spending an afternoon playing video games, pampering myself, sunshine, and making other people smile. Actually, that last one is probably my favorite – there’s almost no better feeling than being able to put a smile on someone else’s face.
kathy @ vodka and soda
i love this! my happy things include a kickass weight training session (or HIIT cardio session), blogging, snuggling up on the couch with a good movie, watching reruns of friends on tv or watching a classic movie…like The Princess Bride that was on the other day and it totally made my night!
Natalie @ Will Jog For Food
My happy list definitely includes… going to the beach, eating chocolate, hanging out with Bella and the hubby on the couch watching Game of Thrones 🙂
this is great! i have that movie too my nieces were watching it the other day and god did i no every word! those cupcakes get me everytime! looks so good. My list is pretty much identical to yours cept subbing yoga for gettin my drink on ;-)!
Life After Swimming
Cuddling on the couch while watching a movie, eating froyo, and sitting on the beach would probably top my list 🙂 PS your pictures are so clear, especially of your meal! Love them!
This is a great idea. I used to write down things that happened each day that I was thankful for; this is kind of similar and reminds me to start that practice again. Love the photos and love the post.
Christina Does It All
what a wonderful list! okay, come hang out with me now!
running with my dog!!
I used to love that Disney movie! I remember dancing around my living room to it haha well more like hopping around since I wasn’t quite the best dancer as a youngin 😉 I think I’d say yoga would def be on mine too and waking up with my cat purring on my pillow. That always makes me smile 🙂
Are you giving blood in the last pic? lol if so, I’ve actually always wanted to but am always scared that I’d pass out lol how is it?
Yes I sure am giving blood! The one time I was successful. I’ve had quite the adventure when it comes to donating blood…
I have super tiny veins (according to the blood banks) and the first time I went they turned me down. So I tried again and the process was successful, but took twice as long as “normal.” That’s the picture you see above. I was jazzed it worked so I went back a third time and my iron was too low (good lord.) SO I tried ONE more time just a few weeks ago and I was in the chair for 30minutes (once the needle is in it should take about 10-15min max) and my bag wasn’t even halfway full. The guy kept moving the needle around and it was so uncomfortable. Finally after 30 min he said we had to stop and it wasn’t good to have it take this long. I was so bummed, cause the blood they took couldn’t be used. I also have an awesome bruise (still!) that’s lasted for over 2 weeks. Sadly, I won’t be donating anymore..I think three strikes means I’m out haha.
However!! I really think you should go donate! Only 5% of the population donates, according again to the blood bank! How sad! So go give your life force! It’s only scary until the needle is in, but it’s a good kind of scary..haha!
oo wow!! I know I have slow moving blood (according to the woman who took it the last time I got blood work lol) but I’ve really wanted to donate. I can’t believe only 5% of the population donates! That’s really insane… next time they have a donation around me I’ll look into it! 🙂
Luv What You Do
Your list is my list (until the craft part that is…ha ha!)
Happiness is also a day without having to drive anywhere, hosting friends or family for a BBQ, and laughing with my boyfriend about something only we find funny!
So every time I see a photo of you in your vibram shoes, I always think you spray painted your feet, Ha Ha Ha!
Love the whole concept of this post though 🙂
I LOVE your list Brittany!! You are one of my faves for a reason you know 🙂 I was with you until we hit the crafting (haha)…would you believe I have a weird aversion to the ‘junk’ of crafting but once I do it I actually secretly love it?! Keep it up…I’d like to see the next ten on the list! xx
Khushboo Thadani (@KhushbooThadani)
Ever heard of the expression “Happiness breeds happiness”…I couldn’t stop smiling as I read this post. Some of the few things on my happy list include spending time with loved ones, waking up naturally, and dark chocolate.
Jan @ Sprouts n Squats
Great list! I love all of these things!
I like to write a gratitude diary of 5 things I was grateful for that day and I find that helps with my daily happiness 🙂
Rach @ This Italian Family
A VHS?! What? I didn’t even know those still existed. 😉 I love that you loved watching that Disney sing-along so much! 🙂 Oh, and your dinner looks so great with all those roasted veggies!
GiGi Eats Celebrities
UM EXCUSE ME – Why am I NOT ON THIS LIST! lmfao!!!! One of your bullet points should be: GETTING SOME AMAZING COMMENTS FROM GIGI!!!! Weeee!!!
Toast to THAT!… It’s Tuesday! Oh wait, I don’t eat toast or drink…. Uh, butternut squash to that!
Any exercise usually does the tricck for me. And if it doesn’t I turn to white wine and a bubble bath with candles burning and a good book.
Brittany Trentham (@batrentham)
I love this!! I have never done Bikram yoga. I really want to try it though!
di @ life of di.
Oh my gosh! I was just talking about the Disney video a few weeks ago 🙂 LOVED IT as a child (and I’m sure I’d still love it now!) Marty, family time, exercise, bubble baths, blogging, coffee and popcorn (?) usuall do it for me 🙂
Nicole @ Fruit N Fitness
I love your happiness list and that helping others is included! I think doing nice things for others always makes you feel good. Some top things on my list would be Bentley, seeing my family, and spending time outside.
I like your idea for using this list of things that make you happy for not only when you’re down but also when you’re feeling bored or wanting to just chill out. I didn’t think of engaging myself out of boredom by mentally going through the things that make me happy and grateful 🙂
Love your list! I would agree with everything on there except maybe making a craft. Although I do love completed crafts that have actually turned out. But usually I end up with a lot of wasted material and time.
This has also reminded me that
a) I need to get back to yoga. It’s been far too long!
b) I’m allowed to give blood again (after tattoo)and should get on that!
Yah! I love that you made a list! I totally believe that happiness is a choice! We can each day decide to do the things we love and that make up happy!!
Melissa @ Mouthwatering Morsel
love this list!! I have to make one soon! and you look like you’re in pain giving blood. hahaha you’re so cute!
What a beautiful post. What makes me happy: finishing my assignment, a hug from my guy, walking the dog by the water, cooking something new and tasty, thinking of my grandparents, wearing a cosy jumper and smiling at people randomly in the street.
Alex @ Brain, Body, Because
LOVE this post! I’m totally stealing the idea. how wonderful to look back on this when you’re feeling down!
I love this list. So many things to be happy for 🙂 Love how your favorite movie is on videotape :P!!
Tessa at Amazing Asset
I saw that video and immediately smiled with pure joy, sing along songs were the bomb.com when I was younger and that one in particular was a fav! Ahh good times to say the very least 🙂 Loving the other items on your list as well, the walk one for sure ( I am about to head out for one myself), also doing things for others, it really is so nice. Baking, yes, heck yes to that one too 🙂
The Healthy Flavor
You’re so awesome Brittany…love this list and I love the pics of your boyfriend and friend. You are so pretty! Oh, and that food and cupcakes look awesome.
This is a lovely lovely list and it’s made me smile to read it 🙂 Reading, baking, cooking, pampering myself, helping others, and going for walks in beautiful nature would all definitely make it on my list!
Absolutely wonderful list of favorites 🙂 You’ve officialy made me crave brussel sprouts, guess that’s going to be a part of my dinner! Bikram yoga or really any yoga is the best, it just feels so amazing internally and externally. As I’ve said before you look so happy in your photos 🙂 🙂
Hi Brittany, it’s your favorite little sister!! I made a blog, you should come look at it!!
