Yesterday I made my way to Seattle for tons of free stuff VegFest, a vegetarian food festival with lots of samples. This was my first time attending VegFest as a vegan, but I was pleased to find out that 95% of the food was vegan friendly!
The day started off gray, but that didn’t stop hundreds of people from piling onto the ferries going across the water.
I saw that Scott Jurek was in town and was really hoping to see him at VegFest, but no such luck. I did however score big in the food department. Hundreds of samples to eat, and plenty more to take home. All for an $8 entrance fee. Score.
The best new-to-me find at VegFest was vegan whipped cream that tasted JUST like the dairy version..pumpkin/apple/berry pie here I come! After stuffing my face with tons of delicious vegan food, it was time to play tourist in the city I adore.
Pike Place market has amazing spring flowers this time of year, and of course delicious produce! The daffodils were everywhere.
Spring has SPRUNG! The sun also decided to come out for the rest of the day. HOO-rah.
I tell ya, the day would have been rough without this guy..
Snacks, water, and extra clothes. The day was great, and to top it off I found $0.63 cents over the course of six hours. I’m not even kidding (super rad, right!?.) I’m up to $1.13 on my coin counter. I’m well on my way to that free donut. By the end of the day I was ravenous all over again. Food for days will last for..maybe five days.
Q: What big city do you live near or in, and how often do you visit?? Seattle, and I visit as often as I can!

We are the same person, it is official. I literally go grocery shopping at fun events and vendors like that. Those samples look killer I am beyond jealous. Especially those popchips!
An Unrefined Vegan
I am seriously jealous!
Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile
Omg, sounds like the best day ever ! I love finding fun festivals like that and always scope out the food haha.

AMAZING! I love free stuff. I live near Miami but I NEVER GO. Traffic here is seriously horrendous and although it’s only 20-30 miles, it would take at least an hour, plus the time for parking. Sorry South Beach, you’re just too much of a hassle. I live much closer to Fort Lauderdale, and although it’s not as big of a city as Miami, I enjoy it MUCH more.
Jan @ Sprouts n Squats
Wow that festival looked amazing and such great value for all that you got! I live in Melbourne Australia which is a big city in itself here.

A vegetarian food festival?!? Oh my goodness, I am so freakin’ jealous!! And look at all of those yummy samples! You lucky girl, you! 😉

Nicole
That sounds like such a fun experience! I love Seattle! My mom and I visited a few years ago and pike place market was so much fun.

Oh man, I LOVE free stuff!! I’ve seen those Odwalla bars a lot, but I’ve never tried one. How are they? And after I visited Seattle years ago, my dream job was to be a flower stall owner at the Pike’s Place Market!
Brittany
I loveee Odwalla bars. They do have a lot of sugar in them so I don’t ever buy them, but hey..free means you make exceptions! HA!
foods for the soul
So true!! Anything that’s free is fair game to eat!
Abby @ Change of Pace
Vegfest sounds awesome! You scored a lot of great snacks, too!
I’ve only been to Seattle twice but love it. The fresh flowers in the market amaze me!

Wow, you got the hook up with all of those free samples! That’s pretty awesome. How weird is it that just this morning I was telling my parents that I really, really want to visit Seattle! Crazy! I live in Pittsburgh, so I’m always around the city. It is fun…. except when traffic is bad 😉
Amy @ A Desert Girl
Looks like you cleaned up at the event! I love Seattle! Kevin and I are going to spend a day there on our honeymoon. He has never been and is going to LOVE it so I’m excited for that. Phoenix and Denver are about equal distance from where I live. I make it to each about twice a year.
Life After Swimming
Holy cow look at all that good stuff! That sounds like an awesome trip into the city 🙂 I did live about 30 minutes away from Pittsburgh until college (and my parents still do). We only usually went there for special occasions, or we would drive through the city if we were going to my cousins’ house.
oatsgirl
Wish I has been there! I’m gettting tired of big ol’ NYC, perhaps it is time to visit the other side haha
wuppypuppy
For once, that vegan food sounds good.(some of it anyway) Whip Cream? Om nom nom nom nom…. I also live about 20 yards from Pheonix, Arizona (our street is the border) so I am in Glendale going out from home, and in Pheonix on the way back.
Brittany
Come visit me, I will make you a vegan believer. We can eat whipped cream for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Matt @ The Athlete's Plate
Jealous!

This look like such a cool event! I’ve never seen anything like that before! I could go for some whipped cream right now… vegan or not!
Luv What You Do
Vegan whipped cream sounds delightful!!!
I can’t believe you didn’t bump into our friend Scott. That would have been so fun! All of your snacks look wonderful. Those chips are my favorite and anything KIND makes is delish. Thanks for sharing your fun day!
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
This sounds like a fabulous time. I love food shows, and Pike Plaza looks amazing. It’s on my places to visit list. I love all the produce and the pretty flowers…I’m so ready for Spring.
By the way, I’m digging how you categorized your “haul,” grouping the same items together. It appeals to my sense of order and general self-diagnosed OCD-ness.
Brittany
I am so glad someone noticed and appreciated my categorizing. I just wouldn’t have been able to function doing it any other way.
Melissa @ Mouthwatering Morsel
I live in Houston … but life always seems much more fun outside of texas. haha I wish to visit seattle soon … your pictures get me so jealous!
Rebecca@Running.Food.Baby.
I guess Toronto would count for me? But, I am originally from there (and the parental units still live there) so I go all the time (going there this weekend actually). I am not too far away from NYC but haven’t gone there in awhile!
jessielovestorun
I can’t even begin to tell you how jealous I am of you right about now! Seriously, only $8.00 for a day full of samples???!!!
Brennan @ Yum Run
I love samples just as much as Buddy the Elf loves smiles. Which is A LOT! You made out like a bandit. Well done, Britt!
Jade
Oh my gosh, you got so much free stuff! That is awesome, my kind of event! I want to go to Seattle so bad…the market looks so amazing.
Megan
WHAT A STASH!!! That loot rivals a vegan halloween goody bag : ) Don’t love Seattle too much until I get there… You can’t have seen everything with out me!! Oh and I live 1/2 mile from DC. I slum it there occasionally…. like once a week / every other week.
Brittany
Oh I cannot wait to explore Seattle with you. I love love love Seattle!! One of these days I am going to come to see YOU and you have to take me to DC!
Megan
omg yessssssssssss
Lou
Sounds amazing – I love anything FREE especially FREE FOOD!!! I would love to visit Seattle someday – I go to Sydney a lot which is a nice big, beautiful city (you would like it I’m sure!)
Brittany
You already know if you EVER visit my neck of the woods you have a place to stay. This will happen soon…haha I am determined! I would flip shit to see Sydney.

I love events like this! If it’s free it for me, haha! I am loving the money app! Was your running hiatus because of your knee? How is that going?
Brittany
YES I took time off to help my knee, and the knee that was bothering me is GREAT, but now my other knee is all whacked out..GO FIGURE!! I am running MAYBE twice a week, no more than 3 miles and having to take a rest day because it starts to bother me. UGH!
Alex @ Brain, Body, Because
OH MY GOD that festival is amazing! Those samples are killer!
noshingonasphalt
Holy tamole! You got all that swag for just $8??? Sahweet! That’s awesome they have a festival like that. No such luck down here in the South. Oh, but we do have a festival dedicated entirely to the mullet (the fish & hairstyle). *sigh / hangs head in shame*
Rebecca @ Blueberry Smiles
What a fun day!! The beet and quinoa salad looks delicious!! I live in SF, but when I lived in the ‘burbs, I’d come in at least once a week
P
This sounds like such an awesome event. You got some crazy amazing loot too!
I wish I could go to SF as often as I can, but when there is toll to pay, even walking along the streets of the city don’t seem so attractive anymore 😛
Natalie @ will jog for food
Veg Fest looks awesome! You can send me some of those goodies if you want 😉
I’m lucky to live 20 minutes from San Francisco. We go “into the city” every few weeks or so.
Sarah @ Feeeding the Brain and Body
Wow, all that loot for only an $8 entrance fee! That is incredible 🙂 That market place looks like it was full of fresh produce, what an awesome pic!
Rachel
omg that’s so awesome! I live literally 30 mins from NYC… I can see it from the highway lol but don’t go in too often since it’s always crazy ville down there…. butttt they did have a vegan festival like this a couple weeks ago! I tried going but never got around to it lol (sleep took over :p)
Khushboo Thadani (@KhushbooThadani)
8 BUCKS for all that loot AND more food?? I would have gone to the festival all 5 days…talk about a steal and a half! I live in Mumbai which is a big city! Boarding school aside, I’ve only ever lived in big cities: Lagos, London, Mumbai 🙂
myhighonlife
That sounds like so much fun! I am still bummed that I couldn’t stay a couple days in Seattle after my training at Ft Lewis a couple years ago. I’m secretly hoping that Ty gets stationed at Ft Lewis (IF hawaii doesn’t work out) so I can frequent Seattle. And we can run and eat food sometime together ha!
Anyways. If you consider Milwaukee, WI a ‘big city’ then that’s where I visit. Otherwise i go to Chicago here and there. Nothing too exciting. So over the midwest-GET ME OUTOF HERE.
EverdayLivingPNW
Nice haul! Mel did not so bad her self…she came home with a full freaking loaf of bread! I wish I could of attended but she had fun with her good friend. Next time we are in town let us know, you have to check out Carmelita. Super cool veggie restaurant!
Brittany
A whole loaf of bread!?! DAMN I knew I shouldn’t have skipped those tables. To ensure I had room for LOTS of food I skipped the bread tables!! BIG MISTAKE HAHA! Just checked out Carmelita’s menu online..LOOKS delicious and I love the V indications. I want that hummus pizza!
Corrie Anne
DENVER! And I don’t leave very often. Haha. But I also love the Twin Cities which I grew up near!
