  • NYE-I’m Getting Old

Posted at 9:03 AM by Brittany, on January 1, 2013

I’m not one for New Years Resolutions, however I do think the idea of setting goals can be exciting. 2012 was my year of running. One race per month, with at least one half marathon. New Years Day last year included running and jumping into freezing water. Great way to start off a year of good running. This year my goal is to run four half marathons. No resolutions, no diets, just four half’s. Oh and I also have a goal of keeping my cool at the gym when all the resolutioners hog my spin classes. At least they only come to the gym for about a month.

Enough about goals and running, you all want to hear about my wild night on the town for NYE!! Before I get to that, I’ll start with the beginning of my day. What better way to spend the end of the year than in a room full of half naked sweaty people?

    20130101-091127
My first hot yoga class showed me beads of sweat on my skin in places I’ve never seen before. There is something magical about seeing sweat roll off your body, knowing that you are releasing stress and toxins onto your yoga towel. I did get dizzy a few times, and at one point felt a little queasy, but a few deep breaths and a burp cured that and the 90 minutes flew by.

I was a little disappointed with how clothed everyone was. My yogi master (Manfriend) advised me to go with just shorts and a sports bra, so that’s what I did. There was only one other woman in there without a shirt. Once we started flowing, the heat really brought out my abs.

    20130101-091135n

Don’t be jealous, it takes a lot of cookies and cake to achieve this ab perfection. I had a blast doing this with my aunt, and can’t wait to get home and do it again with boyfriend.

After a much needed shower and refuel, I did some running around with my cousin to kill time before our big party of the night. On our way out of Walmart, some representatives were giving away free food. It’s always a good day when you get free food.

    20130101-091146

Four hours later, it was time for the main event.

    20130101-091204

Once again, please hold back your jealousy for my night of Bingo. You know you’re getting old when you’d rather play 3hours of bingo and be home by 9:45 than go out and party. Unfortunately I didn’t win anything, but I got close. Next time..I’ll win the jackpot.

Today is a day spent running, enjoying family time, and relaxing. Happy New Year!!

    Q: How was your NYE??

    brittany

Bingo actually sounds really fun to me!! I must be getting old, too! 😉

My NYE was even more uneventful and I did not even make it until midnight…maybe next year! 😉

MY NYE was very low key. We went out for dinner and came home…. I had a bubble bath, read, we watched the ball drop and then went straight to bed. Party animals

Yoga, shopping and bingo. Doesn’t get much better than that!

I was in bed at 8:50 pm…but woke up to acknowledge the new year when some jack ass set off a slew of firecrackers at midnight.

Love those abs of steel 😉
I pretended I wasn’t old for once this NYE and went out and partied like it was 1999. My dinosaur bones will pay for that today…

LOL. You always crack me up. I’ve heard nothing but good things from bikram actually. I think I’d need the most motivation for jumping in that freezing cold water. That is not my thing in the slightest.

Those abs are looking stellar, girl! What’s your secret 😉 My NYE was pretty quiet, but still tonnes of fun. Meeting new people, boardgames, fireworks, and a special someone made ringing in the new year kind of awesome – I even managed to stay awake until 2, which I’m currently paying for, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Happy New Years, girlie!

This NYE sounds pretty darn good to me! Then again, I’ve always joked about being a grandma so it doesn’t surprise me that I night with bingo involved sounds like fun…;) I’ve taken hot yoga a couple of times and dang, it’s not for the faint of heart. But you do leave feeling incredible.

oh hell yes, bingo all the way. I adore hot yoga for that reason too, I just love sweating. I know that is weird but I do. I would so much rather run in heat, exercise in heat, you name it. Loving the four half marathons goal… any in DC? hint hint nudge nudge.

Most of the people in my studio are not wearing cothes. I am overdressed because I lost my abs back in March and haven’t found them again : ) Bingo sounds like a blast…we hosted our own 2 person Wii sports tournament. Now it’s your turn to be jealous…I got a PR in Wii bowling AND earned a pink shiny bowling ball. Man, I sound really old. Oh well, at 31 I made it up way later than most of my friends, but definitely asleep before my cool yonger bro..ha ha!

If I hadn’t been in CA it would have been a chill night. Instead I drank way too much cheap beer and lived like I was still in college. But it was a lot of fun. If only the Badgers had won!

NYE just doesn’t hold the same appeal that it had in my early 20’s. BF and I had dinner at Smash Burger and watched a movie. I barely made it past midnight. I was ok with that since I wanted to be able to run on the first day of 2013, start things off right. 🙂

My NYE (and life) summed up:

All my friends are out with their fiances or at home in their nice homes, pregnant and snuggling their husbands and I’m just here alone in my apartment watching Bravo and “contemplating the taste of food.”
