I’m not one for New Years Resolutions, however I do think the idea of setting goals can be exciting. 2012 was my year of running. One race per month, with at least one half marathon. New Years Day last year included running and jumping into freezing water. Great way to start off a year of good running. This year my goal is to run four half marathons. No resolutions, no diets, just four half’s. Oh and I also have a goal of keeping my cool at the gym when all the resolutioners hog my spin classes. At least they only come to the gym for about a month.
Enough about goals and running, you all want to hear about my wild night on the town for NYE!! Before I get to that, I’ll start with the beginning of my day. What better way to spend the end of the year than in a room full of half naked sweaty people?
My first hot yoga class showed me beads of sweat on my skin in places I’ve never seen before. There is something magical about seeing sweat roll off your body, knowing that you are releasing stress and toxins onto your yoga towel. I did get dizzy a few times, and at one point felt a little queasy, but a few deep breaths and a burp cured that and the 90 minutes flew by.
I was a little disappointed with how clothed everyone was. My yogi master (Manfriend) advised me to go with just shorts and a sports bra, so that’s what I did. There was only one other woman in there without a shirt. Once we started flowing, the heat really brought out my abs.
Don’t be jealous, it takes a lot of cookies and cake to achieve this ab perfection. I had a blast doing this with my aunt, and can’t wait to get home and do it again with boyfriend.
After a much needed shower and refuel, I did some running around with my cousin to kill time before our big party of the night. On our way out of Walmart, some representatives were giving away free food. It’s always a good day when you get free food.
Four hours later, it was time for the main event.
Once again, please hold back your jealousy for my night of Bingo. You know you’re getting old when you’d rather play 3hours of bingo and be home by 9:45 than go out and party. Unfortunately I didn’t win anything, but I got close. Next time..I’ll win the jackpot.
Today is a day spent running, enjoying family time, and relaxing. Happy New Year!!
Q: How was your NYE??

Bingo actually sounds really fun to me!! I must be getting old, too! 😉
My NYE was even more uneventful and I did not even make it until midnight…maybe next year! 😉

MY NYE was very low key. We went out for dinner and came home…. I had a bubble bath, read, we watched the ball drop and then went straight to bed. Party animals
An Unrefined Vegan
Yoga, shopping and bingo. Doesn’t get much better than that!
I was in bed at 8:50 pm…but woke up to acknowledge the new year when some jack ass set off a slew of firecrackers at midnight.
Love those abs of steel 😉
I pretended I wasn’t old for once this NYE and went out and partied like it was 1999. My dinosaur bones will pay for that today…
LOL. You always crack me up. I’ve heard nothing but good things from bikram actually. I think I’d need the most motivation for jumping in that freezing cold water. That is not my thing in the slightest.

LMFAO THOSE ABS ARE THE SEXIEST things I have EVER SEEN in my entire life! I want to lick them… Uh wait no, I want to lick Ryan Goslings… I am sure your man friend however wants to lick yours… Okay, my comment is turning X-RATED, I will stop now! LOL!! But happy happy happy happy new year my sexy nut muffin 😉
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Those abs are looking stellar, girl! What’s your secret 😉 My NYE was pretty quiet, but still tonnes of fun. Meeting new people, boardgames, fireworks, and a special someone made ringing in the new year kind of awesome – I even managed to stay awake until 2, which I’m currently paying for, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Happy New Years, girlie!
Man I love Bungo- such a blast!abd girl you got some killer abs :-)! Best of luck in 2013, I know you are going to kill the 4 halves!
I went to hot yoga once and thought I was going to die. Most of my class was half clothes too, it must all depend on the area! Happy 2013!
Happy New Year! Wow, I had no idea a 6 pack could appear so quickly from hot yoga…sign me up! 🙂 4 halfs is a great resolution!
This NYE sounds pretty darn good to me! Then again, I’ve always joked about being a grandma so it doesn’t surprise me that I night with bingo involved sounds like fun…;) I’ve taken hot yoga a couple of times and dang, it’s not for the faint of heart. But you do leave feeling incredible.
I’m proud of you kid. You don’t want to be out partying with crazies on the road. Continue to enjoy your trip. Miss you.
hahah I LOVE that picture of you!! You’re adorable!
I’m also ready for the crazzzy influx of people at the gym – it usually dies down come mid february though.
Happpppppy New Year!
Alex @ therunwithin
oh hell yes, bingo all the way. I adore hot yoga for that reason too, I just love sweating. I know that is weird but I do. I would so much rather run in heat, exercise in heat, you name it. Loving the four half marathons goal… any in DC? hint hint nudge nudge.
Bingo? I have to admit I’ve only ever once played it before but I do think it’s fun. And having fun the way you choose is the very best way to spend New Year’s Eve in my opinion. Happy New Year, Brit!
Andrea @Pencils and Pancakes
Don’t worry….mine was spent playing Yatzee
Melissa @ Mouthwatering Morsel
omg Love bingo! I wish I had someone to go with. no one here seems to want to.
I wish there was hot bingo. All them old people sweating in their huggies…
I just recently discovered your blog, and I have to say I’m really enjoying it. Your writing and sense of humor are cracking me up. I get your brand of sarcasm.
I’ve been dying (not literally) to try a hot yoga class, I love spinning, Bingo and long walks on the beach.
Happy New Year!
Luv What You Do
Most of the people in my studio are not wearing cothes. I am overdressed because I lost my abs back in March and haven’t found them again : ) Bingo sounds like a blast…we hosted our own 2 person Wii sports tournament. Now it’s your turn to be jealous…I got a PR in Wii bowling AND earned a pink shiny bowling ball. Man, I sound really old. Oh well, at 31 I made it up way later than most of my friends, but definitely asleep before my cool yonger bro..ha ha!

You’re too cute!! If I could wear those shorts and top, I’d be in them for sure!! You go rock that hot yoga class!! Our New Year’s was quiet as well, we were all too tired from a day in the snow, lol! Happy New Year to you, Brittany!! xx
Why must I live in such an over priced area? I get so jelly seeing people taking fancy yoga classes. That sh** is crazy expensive around DC, bahumbug. Oh and of course, best mirror pic ever.
That is really interesting about the “very clothed Bikram yoga class.” Every studio is different but most of the ones in my area are filled with almost naked people. Lol. I always wear my hot yoga clothes! 😉
oh britt i really adore u!!! im not much of a party animal either. my perfect kind of party includes boardgames and good food (whatta nerd i am right? :P)
i cant wait to read bout your 4 halfs !
Ah man, I love bingo!!!! Your night sounds very low-key, but absolutely wonderful!! Your goal for 4 half is just awesome.
p.s. you got some mad drawing skills!! =)

Yoga and bingo sound magical!
I watched a film, dressed in P.J. Salvage sheep pajamas, cuddling with my monkey named Gwendolyn.
Asleep before the ball dropped! And the champagne was never opened, ha ha!
Happy New Year! xo
savor the sweet life
Jamie and I went out to a early dinner and then came home! We watched a couple episodes of Shameless (love that show!) before watching the ball drop. Super nice being old and staying in for NYE 🙂
Brittany @ GOtheXtraMile
Hahaha I seriously love you. I love bikram – it’s the best! Sounds like an awesome New Years to me!!
Life After Swimming
I LOVE bingo! My swim team in college has a yearly bingo fundraiser with Vera Bradley bags and cash prizes. I kind of miss it!
Natalie @ will jog for food
Happy new year! My New Years consisted of eating cookies and passing out at 11, woohoo! 😉
Karla @ myhighonlife
You have company in getting old… I think Bingo would be so fun!
If I hadn’t been in CA it would have been a chill night. Instead I drank way too much cheap beer and lived like I was still in college. But it was a lot of fun. If only the Badgers had won!
Life's a Bowl
Baha, bingo = winning! We kept it low-key too, dinner and a movie, and I definitely did not make it till midnight… Although the hubby was kind enough to wake me up for a midnight kiss before stumbling into bed 😛 Anddd, you should totally look at doing a half in DC [if you haven’t already]!
NYE just doesn’t hold the same appeal that it had in my early 20’s. BF and I had dinner at Smash Burger and watched a movie. I barely made it past midnight. I was ok with that since I wanted to be able to run on the first day of 2013, start things off right. 🙂
OMG! your NYE sounds amazing 🙂 I love your abs! and I would’ve been in shorts and sportsbra too! I have never done hot yoga…I really want to try it 🙂
Rach @ This Italian Family
Yeah Bingo!! Sounds like a great NYE, friend. 🙂
Wish I had some abs like that! 😉
It might be hard to believe, but my new years was even better than yours….. I as in bed at 930pm 😀 oh yeah, I definitely rang in the new year in style!! Love that you had a good time at yoga.. and I get dizzy quite often as well!! Woohoo for all those halts – you can totally DO IT! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 😀
Christina Does It All
Friend, you crack me up. Love those abs. And the bingo. And you, duh.
My NYE (and life) summed up:
All my friends are out with their fiances or at home in their nice homes, pregnant and snuggling their husbands and I’m just here alone in my apartment watching Bravo and “contemplating the taste of food.”
Just flying in from a BlissBrit.com marathon and I have to say your Manfriend was raised VERY well. He rocks all the socks and puts cherrys on top all the things.
Hi! I saw your blog listed on Amalia’s blog (Live. Travel. Eat. Run) and just wanted to say, well, hi! 🙂 Love finding new blogs. And you’re totally not getting old! I spent NYE at the gym and then crashed before midnight. I would have loved bingo!
Ummm Bingo is pretty darn AWESOME if you ask me! Sounds like a great New Years to me… I actually did go out that night, but would have been perfectly content staying in my Pjs 🙂
so jealous of your hot yoga class! and nobody is too old for bingo 🙂
di @ life of di.
Haha – love the picture with the abs 🙂
The Healthy Flavor
You freaking crack me up like always!! I love your sense of humor and I love your abs, lol!! Hey nothing wrong with bingo…I was in bed by 9 pm!! Partying just doesn’t appeal to me anymore..plus I’m a mommy now…:)
Your New Year’s sounded marvelous! I love free food and samples…especially after a good workout!
* Vegan Sparkles *
Ohhh you make me giggle so much! Nice work! Sending you lots of winning vibes for your next bingo session! Two little ducks, quack quack…. 🙂
Alex @ Brain, Body, Because
I loved playing Bingo with my gram! She would seriously set up an entire table to herself with an ungodly number of cards.
