Posted at 4:06 PM by Brittany, on December 30, 2012

While playing a game with my younger siblings, I discovered that we are indeed of the same blood line. I asked a question, and my brother answered perfectly.

    20121230-162948

I would have to agree to a degree, one of the most fascinating things about being a human is comprehending the amazing flavors of different foods. I’ve been away from home, but I haven’t been slacking in the food department. My Arizonian family agreed to go to a vegan restaurant with me and fortunately for me this restaurant is located in Seattle too!

    20121230-162959

Started with an Asian style soup, and a sip of my dads Indian style chai.

    20121230-163012

I love Asian food, but I like getting American style vegan food. I find it to be more fascinating and impressive when a vegan protein can resemble real meat. I went vegan because I love animals, not because I didn’t like the taste of meat! I got the Hawaiian burger with a side of steamed veggies.

    20121230-163032

This burger was a mess, which lets you know it was delicious. Overall everyone approved..except the one that got the nasty vegan hot dog. It was rough, even I didn’t like it. Dessert always saves the day.

    20121230-163042

I haven’t had carrot cake in years. This was delicious. An unpictured cheesecake was also annihilated.

I’ve eaten a LOT of food, so I’ve been running a lot too. Today I had an amazing 8miler, and the previous two days I had comfortable 3milers. TOMORROW I am going to my first hot yoga class with my aunt and I couldn’t be more excited!

Q: Does your family eat the same way you do? No, but everyone makes an effort to try my hippie fuel.

Dessert definitely always saves the day – that carrot cake looks delicious, and I’m not even a big fan of having veggies in my desserts. My family’s eating habits and tastes don’t even come close to resembling mine, but we somehow all manage to get along anyways 🙂

UM CLEARLY WE WERE TWO PEAS IN THE SAME POD BECAUSE I WAS TOTALLY PLAYING THAT GAME THE OTHER DAY WITH MY FAMILY!!!!!!!!
      1. I would definitely NOT want to ever be a horse-drawn sled driver in -20 degree weather
      2. Cheesiest Pop Song Ever… Oh my, that’s a tough one, probably EVERY pop song out there?
      3. Since I lived without TV for two-three years, I really can live without ALL of them, but now that I have a TV… I am obsessed with HGTV!!!
      4. The most fascinating thing about being human is probably our ability to talk, write, and create things like computers, cars, etc… Also I think it’s pretty cool how some people HATE certain things while others LOVE them – I mean shit, if everyone was like me, the world would be obsessed with salmon, exercise, hot tea and eating LOADS of FOOD and CELEBRITIES (lol).
      5. The most confusing thing ever… Oh my, ANYTHING when my blood sugar is low, LOL!!!!

Does my family eat the same way I do?? My brother and father = NOPE! My sister and mother = YUP! 🙂

My dad can not live with out a potato or rice with his meal. Being home for 10 days was a total struggle and not close to what I normally eat. I would just opt out of the starch at dinner but he used flour as a thickener for random things and there were definitely ingredients I normally don’t eat but I didn’t feel like fighting him the whole time. So while he tried I feel slightly sluggish after all the noms I had that were not paleo. AND it was a cool 20 degrees all week so my running wasn’t enough. Now that I am back in VA I will take advantage of the warmer weather!!

PS – carrot cake = love of my life.

Luckily, my family (and my in-laws) eat the same way I do, with just a few exceptions. The only downfall is that we probably aren’t as encouraged to branch out and try new food as we would be if some of us ate differently.

Sounds like you’re having a nice time! My husband ate at Loving Hut in SF in a mall. He was in love!
Would you bf share the vegan mac and cheese recipe he uses? We’re looking for a good one!
Both our families try to make vegan food for my husband, but we usually bring something too!

That is awesome that your family enjoys your “hippie food” or tries too. When I was going through my most serious diabetic state, my parents made a big effort to make everything as sugar free through the household as possible so I didn’t feel so outkasted.

That carrot cake looks so delicious! Carrot cake is my favorite type of cake besides lemon 🙂 I would say that my family eats fairly similar to me; however, my husbands side eats a little bit differently (heavy on the meat/sugar/salt). It always makes family gatherings a bit more interesting.
