I can’t remember the exact moment I first saw a photo of Multnomah Falls, but ever since then I’ve been daydreaming about it like it were a giant cinnamon roll.
Seeing it in person was like seeing your favorite animal eating a burger in a baggy t-shirt with BBQ sauce on its face.
It was amazing.
With a forecast of 80 degrees and no post run activities, I decided the 30 minute drive outside of Portland was a good idea. It ended up being the best idea of the day.
Even better than Blue Star Donuts.
The park was crowded, but after going up a bit the people thinned out. My family wasn’t too jazzed about going to the top of the waterfall and although they told me I could go and they would wait, I decided not to.
This gives me an excuse to go back. It was all part of my master plan.
There are miles of trails all over this area and I must get back to explore for a handful of hours! Who wants to go back with me and stand at the top of the waterfall?
I have to earn my new bag bling by standing at the summit.
I can still feel the cold, wet air from the base of the waterfall hitting my face the closer we got. Nature in her true element, and boy was it great.
Q: Coolest waterfall you’ve seen in person? This one..fersher.

Oh wow, that’s amazing. I’m adding that to my bucket list!
If only I didn’t live on the other coast! I’m old enough to be your mother Brittany, but I’d be hiking there with you in a hot minute!!!
Age means nothing! I’d happily spend hours exploring with you. We have a similar spirit. ❤️
I can’t remember my first but the most impressive was Niagara Falls. My brain couldn’t process the volume of water I was seeing. I kept instinctively expecting it to shut off.
The best time was Wailua Falls on Maui. On the spur of the moment we hiked in our sneakers through bamboo stands and rain forest and over creeks to arrive at a spactacular waterfall. And we had it all to ourselves for 30 minutes. Pretty cool honeymoon moment if you ask me.
Multinomah Falls is on my to do list.
I’m going to Niagara this summer! I’m so excited.
Take the cheesy Maid of the Mist boat ride. Also, Canada side is way better than US side. Bring your passport.
Yes! I’ll be going into Canada!
I’ll go with you to the top!! How freaking gorgeous is that? Wow. My hubby and I are planning on doing Yosemite this summer and I am so stoked. I haven’t been since I was a kid, but any time I get to be surrounded by that much natural beauty I just feel so at peace!
Ohh I need to get to Yosemite already, so jealous!
So beautiful! I want to gooooooo. You do the coolest things.
Come explore with meeeee!

So so gorgeous! Definitely a place to return to and go to the top!
Absolutely, I can’t wait until I do!
Looks great! Glad you got up there. Better get back and see it all. I’d go if we were in the area.
It was so great, your family would love it.
Fine! Give me another reason to vosot the NW why don’t you!?

Sadly that would probably be the Rheinfall in Switzerland, which really isn’t all that impressive. =(
Butttt it was in Switzerland soooo….that’s legit. 👍🏻

Haha – yeah, I’d probably think so too if I didn’t live in Germany… 😉
How gorgeous! I live 20 minutes from Niagara Falls so those are definitely the coolest ones I’ve seen in person. One of my goals is to visit Victoria falls in Zimbabwe.
I’m going to Niagara Falls this summer! I can’t wait. 🙈
Awesome! I hope you love it.
That is beautiful! I have to go! The last falls I saw were the Cherry Creek Falls which was pretty but I know I’ve seen really incredible ones, I just can’t think of the name right now.
It will come to you when you least expect it. 😝
Probably when I’m working and will make no sense to those around me 😛

So so beautiful!!
Rachael @ Catch Me If You Can
i will totally climb to the top with you but you may have to carry me this southern is so not used to the air in high altitude. i havent seen many waterfalls but when we were in south carolina we drove up a mountain and got up into the cloud layer (super overcast day) it was so cool!
I love getting in the clouds, but only if they part for me at the top so I can see the view!
Good grief, that looks refreshing. I have to get out more!
Exploration is everywhere!
I live near a beautiful big waterfalls but the coolest one I ever saw was Niagara Falls. It was SO BIG!
YAAASSS! I’m going in July!
Oh wow it’s incredible! I want to say I saw some pretty cool waterfalls in Yosemite but it’s been a while so I could be confusing it with a different are somewhere in Nor Cal from my days when I used to live there, haha.
Haha! You’ll just have to go back to both to be sure! 😝

What a gorgeous place to explore! That bridge is so pretty – and has such an incredible view too!
It was amazing!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Ooo now that definitely warrants a “coolest waterfall” badge. I’d probably go with Manoa Falls for mine, but that’s mostly because it’s the only one I can think of right now 😆
Hawaii always has amazing falls!

Oh my gosh, it’s just gorgeous! I’m struggling to pronounce the name, but who needs to call it anything but breathtaking?!
Soo true! It’s like mult-noh-ma.

HOLY FU** T**S! THAT WATERFALL….. GAH! Imagine eating a gooey cinnamon bun as you zoned out watching it’s tranquilizing water gush down to the river below!
With Chris Evans.
You speak to my soul!
I went here last summer! It was packed with people the, but still beautiful. Coolest waterfall experience I’ve had was sitting on top of Vernal Falls when we hiked up to Half Dome during the night!
Omg I can’t even imagine, that sounds amazing!
I love it there. I carried my son sleeping in my arm to the summit. He was 3 or 4 at the time. I would love to go back
I love that!
LOL My arm’s weren’t likin’ life so much. Did you see all the trees with the moss hanging off them on the way up? It was stunning.
Beautiful shots of the waterfalls – and a gorgeous selfie!!! What a cool place to visit. The coolest waterfalls I ever saw were in Costa Rica. We were driving to a town called La Fortuna and there was this off the beaten path hike we found, and we saw something like seven waterfalls. It was really awesome!
Seven!? My goodness what a sight.
kathy @ more coffee, less talky
we stopped by a waterfall (can’t remember the name) on our way to Whistler in BC and it was gorgeous!!
Loveee. They are magical.
Oh my word!!!! Unbelievably gorgeous! I always loooove your pictures. I need to make a trip up to the Pacific NW now! My husband is from Oregon, but he’s from the very Eastern (aka not very pretty, pretty much Idaho) side of Oregon. ha ha.
I just recently saw some Idaho photos that had me dying. 😱 so gorgeous. I’m sure he still had some nice areas…maybe. Haha.
I’ve been to the top there once with my brothers and would go again!
It’s been a long time since I was in Yosemite Valley, but Yoesmite Falls and Verbal Falls were pretty cool and awesome.
I’m dying to get to Yosemite!
I’m kicking myself right now! When I took a business trip to Portland, I was told about a beautiful waterfall that I absolutely needed to see. This must have been it!! I got caught up in work and flew home before I got to see it…
It’s absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing the pics!!!
Oh it’s amazing, you must go back!
Luv What You Do
I need more waterfalls (like cowbells..ha ha!). Last year, we hiked to a place called waterfall glen. It was very sad and small. Gotta love the mid west : )
Get your fanny to the PNW! 😝
Luv What You Do
OMG! Yes! We need to!
Nice! I love, love, waterfalls!
Me too! They’re so mystical.
Pick me! I want to come with!!!!
WOWZA!! Your photos are incredible. I am so there! -Kat
Thank you! ❤️
OH my gosh. That is so beautiful I am just gasping. Ok. That’s it. It’s on my bucket list now. No going back. Thank you for this beautiful post! 😀
You must go! Yesss!
I have been to Niagara Falls a few times and it never gets old. It’s just amazing. Insane. Beautiful. Just like Multnomah Falls! I love your mater plan of having to go back again. I want to see more pictures!!
I’m going to Niagara next month!
