I worked my last shift at Starbucks on May 3rd, and surprisingly I don’t miss the job. I tend to get emotionally attached to all things in my life, including my job. I spent five years of my life with Starbucks, but the time had come to say goodbye.
In the last two weeks I’ve been terribly unproductive, and I’ve struggled with all the downtime. I’ve spent far too much time bored eating and not enough time moving my body. Thankfully I leave on Thursday for Yellowstone, where I will be working until October. I have no idea what to expect, but I hope for lots of adventures, new friendships, saying “yes” as often as possible, and a buffalo or two. I squeezed in a couple more hikes before heading off, and officially approve of my new hiking shoes.
I gave them three chances and they passed the test.
The older I get the more I realize how much I struggle with too much downtime, and having my days filled with work and new areas is much needed for me. I don’t know if or when I’ll be blogging, because I won’t be bringing my MacBook, but you can find me on Instagram if you’d like to follow along on my “photograph all the buffalo” journey.
Truth be told I think it will be nice to step away from this space for a while, I hope to come back uplifted and excited for life. The wifi at Yellowstone is spotty making this the perfect opportunity to unplug a bit and truly live in the moment. The next few months will radically challenge my comfort zone, and I couldn’t be more excited for that.
Cheers to a new chapter.

We all need to unplug sometimes! I feel as though I`m in a bit of a rut myself… 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful adventure!!
I completely understand! I love blogging, but something about stepping away feels right. For now. ❤️
Wow–have a great time in Yellowstone!
Yellowstone is the bomb. You’ll love it. Don’t pet the bison! I am happy for you but sad that’ll I’ll miss seeing/meeting you at the end of my trip to the PNW. All the best. See you on Instagram.
I’m definitely bummed I won’t be around when you’re passing my way! Next time, or perhaps I’ll hop on my bike and pedal your way.
Sounds like a good move and a wonderful adventure. Sometimes we have to reset in life. Best wishes!
Thank you! ❤️❤️🙏🏻
Sounds so exciting! I’m sure you’ll have lots of new experiences and growth. ✌🏼
I sure hope so!! ❤ 🙂

Sounds like an amazing opportunity. Enjoy every moment!
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Yes, cheers to a new chapter! I love and embrace new chapters. Enjoy Yellowstone! Excited for you, but I’m a little sad I won’t get to read your blog posts about your time there! I’ve been keeping away from IG now, only going on when I need to do a post. I feel it’s a time waster for me, but I’ll have to keep my eyes open for your posts there when I’m on. 🙂
Are you heading to Scotland right after Yellowstone?
Ha! I find I spend more mindless time on IG, so I try to be mindful, but it’ll be easier while I’m away. I come home for a week after Yellowstone and then head to Scotland!
I am pretty excited for you and your new chapter. Of course I will miss your blogs, but I will follow you on Instagram and I will be hoping for awesomeness for you in any way it can happen.
Thank you! I’ll hopefully pop in occasionally and use the computers in the park! 🙏🏻
see you on the other side! Hope there are buffalo involved. 🙂
I mean, I know buffulo are involved. But I hope to see them appear in the new chapter you eventually write!
or not!! no pressure. 🙂 Hope you have a great time, Brittany!
HA! I hope there will be Buffalo too! Pressure is ON.
SO excited for you Brittany!!! I can’t wait to see all of your Instagram snapshots. 🙂 PS I totally got the Water Buffalo song from Veggie Tales stuck in my head after reading your post… Geeky childhood flashback! 😉
Oh my gossshhhh YESSSS for the Veggie Tales flashback! 😂
What will you be doing at Yellowstone?
Working as a server in one of the restaurants. Seasonal hospitality employee, and job shadowing Park rangers.
Good luck. I’m so jealous.
As with all major businesses, life seems so much better if we can maybe leave them behind! I have to ask but do you like Starbucks coffee? Good luck with the next phase!
I DO like Starbucks coffee, but only select blends. I know Starbucks gets a bad rep for their coffee, but some of the reserve blends are amazing. I was really into coffee and the science of it all until I could no longer drink it. It’s strong coffee, but I enjoyed it. I’m a fan of full bodied dark roasts with cocoa and nutty notes though, and Starbucks has good blends of those. The mainstream places these days tend to be too bright for my liking.
I stopped drinking coffee over a year ago now and I still love the smell…but that said, it’s cheaper to drink tea.
I stopped drinking a bit ago myself, with the occasional relapse. I had to stop for health reasons, and working for Starbucks I never had to pay for coffee. HA! I will always love the smell too!
While I can’t be certain, I think it was giving me really bad stomach ache…but I’ve also stopped drinking milk too since then…and have been fine without both. The body is a weird place eh? Not sure if you’ve heard of it but I tried Teeccino which is a coffee alternative…pretty good.
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR NEW ADVENTURE!!! 🙂 You are gonna have an awesome time!! 🙂 Can’t wait to see the pics!!
Thank you!!! Yahoo!
How exciting! I can’t wait to hear about all the adventures you get up to in Yellowstone!
Merrells! Yay! And Yay for quitting Starbucks. You will love Yellowstone! It is amazing. Tip: don”t stick your finger in the water even if it is really downstream of any hotsprings vents. It is still super hot. 😉 I know it is obvious but still, I did it. I figured it wasn’t bubbling, hey how hot can it be .Answer: Very Hot. Enjoy Scotland, I was just remarking how I wanted to go there today. 🙂 Can’t wait to see your pics!
Haha!!! You wild woman, good tip about the water! Can’t wait to share. ❤️
I just found my old Merrells in storage. I thought of you, haha!
You are going to have a ball! Hats off to you for taking a new path. Hope to see you back here in Oct -Kat
Thank you! ❤️❤️
“I have no idea what to expect, but I hope for lots of adventures, new friendships, saying “yes” as often as possible, and a buffalo or two.” –> love that. I hope you see TONS of buffalo and enjoy this new and exciting chapter!
Apparently they’re bison, not buffalo! And I’ve seen a ton!
