The universe has a funny way of bringing people together. I’ve been friends with two wonderful humans for over three years now, and I met them both through blogging. I often wonder if one day I’ll decide to stop sharing my adventures with the world, but one thing that keeps me coming back is the connections I continue to make with like minded people.
Two years ago I flew to Virginia to explore the land with a girl named Megan. Megan and I then drove north to Michigan to attend a girl named Lillian’s wedding. It was a trip I’ll never forget. Fast forward two years, and Megan invited Lily and I to her wedding. So I hopped on a a plane, flew to Michigan, and Lily and I drove north to New York.
All thanks to blogging.
Megan’s wedding was a combination of summer yellows and rustic wood browns. A casual yet classy wedding on a golf course that appeared to be straight out of the jungles of Jurassic Park. It was beautiful.
We ate, we celebrated, we laughed, we mingled, and we continued the wedding tradition of our triangular friendship. This must mean I’m next, so Mr. Mountain Man anytime you’d like to show your face I’ll happily smile back.

That other pretty lady in the middle is Alex, met her through blogging too!
I’ve had the opportunity to travel to California, Ohio, Michigan, New York, and Pennsylvania meeting a handful of people along the way, simply because I decided to share my mind with strangers five years ago. What a trip.
Without this adventure I may never have seen the lovely street art in Rochester, New York after a 5 mile run through the city. I may never have experience the cheapest produce at the Rochester Public market (where I proceeded to flabbergast an elderly man at my abilities to consume pounds of lettuce in one sitting) spending $1 on a bucket full of apples.
What a lovely adventure it’s been, and I can’t wait to see where I travel to next.
I hope it’s somewhere with Indian food as good as I found in Michigan, because my mind was blown by the flavor explosions.
Q: What’s the most unexpected way you’ve made new friends?

Ditto on blogging… most unexpected way ever to make friends!
Mountain Man….. he is coming for you….. (that sounds creepy, I promise it is not).
Ok, I really need to fire up the ole blog. For our friendship’s sake. xoxo
Brittany
Bahaha I patiently wait for your next post. ❤️

Yep, I have made friends with a couple people I would to meet up with in person!
Brittany
It’s so much fun!

OOh – I’ll have to try Indian food when I’m in Michigan at the end of the month! We don’t have many Middle Eastern/Indian food options around here.
Brittany
Oh my gosh, this place was called Rangoli. They had so many vegan options, but also just good variety!

I met my BFF on a Nsync message board forever ago. I can’t imagine my life without her. Other friends I’ve made by taking part in an international scavenger hunt, attending conventions, and blogging. I love the cake she picked for her wedding! It’s beautiful!
Brittany
I love this!!! I miss those Nsync days.

I love a good unexpected friendship story! So I went to Paris in 2010 with two girls I’d never met (til the airport) — my brother knew one vaguely so I jumped on the trip and was sharing an AirBnB with them — and one of them and I became such fast friends and had the most amazing time together, and still stay in touch and talk and visit and I adore her! She lives in Texas and is one of those heart friends whom I wish I could do life with in person every day.
Brittany
This is great! Soon we will have our own happily ever after story. 😂
Shawna
love that thought!

The people are hands down the only reason I still blog. Sure, I love writing and having a place to store those memories, but I like interacting with other people while I do that. Even if I stop blogging tomorrow, a lot of my closest friends are fellow bloggers. Love that you guys recreated the road trip to Megan’s wedding. It looked like a blast!
Brittany
Same! My main homies are my blog babes! So jazzed I was able to also meet YOU! One day we will have more adventures.
Mellie Dee
I agree with the friendships from blogging. though I haven’t met any yet, I hope to when I get more into my blogging. I feel so on and off that I haven’t made any real lifetime ones like you have.
Brittany
It’s never too late!

blogging friends are the best! i’ve met some great people through blogland 🙂
Brittany
I still kick myself for not coming to that blog fest you bitches had…
Alex Shabo
well a. still read your blog (duh) and b. LOVEDDDDD seeing you at Megan’s wedding. It was amazing to finally meet in real life. Now I need to get my butt out there 🙂
Brittany
ALEXXXXXX I wish we had more time together. I want to explore a mountain with you, hmmmmk!?
Rach @ This Italian Family
Ah! I love this! I have made some precious friendships through blogging that have led to real-life meet ups that have led to long term friendships. Love it! 🙂
Brittany
It’s amazing the way we are all brought together through this!
Jessica
Blogging, running, the gym – funnily enough, it is always just doing the things I love that brings the people I love to me!
Brittany
That’s the best! It totally makes sense too.
Angie
I LOVE Indian food.
That’s so awesome you met good friends that way. I love the connections through social media as well. It’s the only way I’m making friends these days because we’re moving/traveling so often. We once made a new friend in Paris at a vegan restaurant. Since then, we’ve met him in LA and still keep in touch.
Btw, I’d love to meet you some day when I’m visiting Seattle again…that’s of course, if you’d like to as well! 😉
Brittany
I would LOVE to meet you! Next time you’re in the area you just let me know!
Angie
I definitely will! 🙂
Angie
Btw, just wanted to let you know I TAGGED (nominated) you for the Happiness TAG. No obligations, but you were my pick!

Nice! Next time you come to PA come say hi to me! LOL!! Glad u had a great trip- I just went on a hiking trip with other bloggers I met, but the weather turned out terrible so I didn’t or take in the hike (it started sleeting- I wasn’t gonna hike 11 hrs in sleeting rain- LOL) but I got to meet the other girls blog I have been reading for a long time- it was so awesome!!
Brittany
That’s awesome! You’ll just have to plan another one. 😝
danaelizabethx
Wow- I just re-read what I type and there are a lot of typos- LOL – I should really proofread before I hit send! Haha
Melanie
I think that is so dang awesome you’ve made so many legit connections and friendships through blogging! I love blogging because I get to “meet” so many amazing people all over the world! I don’t get out much (ha, ha), so I don’t usually meet my blogging friends in person, but it’s still very rewarding, nonetheless. I loooove reading all about your life and adventures!
Brittany
Yes! Even if you don’t meet them, it’s so fun having the connections.
Ellie
The most unexpected way I’ve met new friends is on the list-serve for the local running club. People send emails about meeting up for runs at a certain place and time, and I go. I’ve meet amazing people that way!
Brittany
That’s so awesome! I need something like that in my area.
Amy
Even though we haven’t officially “met” in real life, I still feel as if I’ve met you because of how long we’ve been commenting and writing. One of these days, that’ll change — hopefully sooner rather than later!! 🙂
Brittany
Yes! I completely agree. I have to say, I just got a new job. 😱 which I’ll be sharing in a post next week. I’m still with Starbucks though, but with new job I’ll have to figure out best way to take time off. Won’t be as easy as it was! I will have some back to back days off though so a mid week adventure to California still is on my radar!
Amy
I think I just saw a sneak peek of that post in my email inbox! 😉 If everything in there is true, that is SO exciting!! Beyond unreal! I’m so incredibly happy for you and this new chapter. ❤️ And no worries about the uncertainty about taking time off! We’ll still hang out at some point! Who knows… I had a trip to Seattle that fell through this summer, so it may be that I end up visiting you up there first! 🙂
Brittany
HAH I accidentally posted, AHH. Owell, yes it’s true!! The post will be live tomorrow. ❤ I'm excited for whatever adventures come our way together!

We find people when we share our true selves good or bad. When we let people know who we really are they can meet us as we are.

So true, what you see (or read) is what you get with me!

I am so with you on blogging friends! Some of my closest friends I met through my blog – and other friendships have been made/strengthened through the blog as people I kinda knew found they had similar interests or got to know me better through reading my blog!
Brittany
Yes!! Even those we know “in real life”‘get to see us in our element and know is better!
dave379
Yay for blogging! I haven’t met anyone in person yet but love the like minded connections and creativity I’ve found.
Brittany
We all somehow find each other and it’s great!
Jade
Blog friends are awesome. A lot of the people I’ve met have stopped writing their blogs but we keep in touch
Brittany
Same! Both these girls no longer blog, but are my closest two!
Amy @ A Desert Girl
How fun! I’m so glad you found these last and meaningful friendships through blogging. I’m snail mail pen pals with a few blog friends and I love it.
Brittany
That’s how our friendship started, snail mail is so fun!
Luv What You Do
Definitely my coworkers who range from 10 years younger to 10 years older than me : )
Brittany
Yeah! I have that same thing, some of my closer coworkers are the ones in a giant age range.
Luv What You Do
It makes life SO fun! Sometimes i feel so young and other times…so old : )
Heather
Blogging is by far the most interesting way I’ve made friends. Who would’ve thought random ass people on the internet would a) even find my blog, b) actually read it more than once and c) care enough to comment and build a “relationship.” It’s truly an amazing and unique thing 🙂
Brittany
It is!!! I just love it ALL!
P
When I first started blogging, I never imagined actually meeting the bloggers behind the blogs I read/stalked (lol) in real life, but this past year has been a fun whirlwind of blogger meet-ups for me! Hard to believe I only met you IRL less than a year ago!
And I have to say…I’m slightly curious as to who will be the groom at your future wedding!! haha
Brittany
Right!? We’ve met twice now, which is more than most of the people I’ve met IRL! 🙌🏼
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
It’s amazing the relationships blogging has forged. Some of my closet friends live miles and miles across the globe. Next month, I’m going to have to Juli from Germany and Lucie from Switzerland stay with me. How amazing is that?!
Brittany
So amazing! My best friends hands down, and you’re at the top sweet pea!
Allie Zottola
I have thought about when the time will come for me to stop blogging, too, and it’s always the friendships that makes me think “Nooo, I’ll never stop blogging!!” haha.
Brittany
Yes!! It’s just too great of a community.
BabetaRuns
THIS is exactly what I love about the “online” world… when it becomes “offline” and REAL!
Brittany
Exactly! It’s truly amazing.
Megan
AHHHH how am I just seeing this?! I have that picture displayed in my kitchen so I get to see your and Lily’s face EVERY DAMN DAY. I love you both so so much. I can’t wait to see what mountain man you stumble upon. His beard is going to be so majestic. Lily and Cory will be in DC with me in a few weeks! I feel spoiled this year!!!!
ALSO how funny is this… Sarah (pickyrunner) is moving in with an old friend of mine from college in Boston this month… talk about a small freaking world!
SMOOCHES GIRLY.
Brittany
Yaaassss! The photo is on my desk. It’s one of my favorites!!! I’m excited for your adventures with the Steuben’s, what a blast! Small world for sure, I love all these connections! 😍 love you to the moooooon!
