Long time readers know that I tend to lean on the simpler side of life. I have an aversion for clutter, waste, things in excess, and slugs. Mostly slugs. Thanks to my willingness to always reduce, reuse, and (mostly, but I could do better) recycle I was more than happy to help the folks over at gifts.com inspire others to find an Easter basket that could be reused.
With a wide variety of gift baskets, I settled on a rustic picnic style basket filled with fruit. If you’re boring like me you could leave the fruit and call it a day, or you could eat the fruit while you stuff the basket with other Easter treats.
I am one of those lucky souls that still gets an Easter basket from her mother. Born with wings of an angel that woman, she never skimps with the goodies. These days I try (key word) not to overdo it with the candy (I save that for Halloween and every other day of the year) and instead opt for non food related items.
So what would I put into my basket this year? As with most gifts I receive (regardless of insisting I need nothing else added to my current lifestyle) I try to choose things I have a current use for. I hesitate to say things I need, because let’s be real we don’t really need half the stuff we ask for/receive.
This year I don’t really need anything, so instead I’ll speak hypothetically.
Easter Items I “Could Use Right Now”
- A trip to Ireland, itinerary nestled inside a pale pink envelope in the center of my basket with an egg sticker sealing it shut.
- A new cat wrapped in a blush blue bow to emphasize his snowy white fur. A friend to play with one of my current children, to match my black and white life.

“It’s my CAT IN A BOX!”
- The ability to rewind time. Not because I want to go back to my past, but because I want to tell people what I really think, and then rewind so I don’t get slapped. 🙂
- Food, but not candy. Self explanatory, think staple items like veggies, nut butter, and oats.
- A massage everyday for the next year, from the hands of Tom Hiddleston. <– Top priority please.
- An iron gut to digest all the vegetables, and iron legs to get me through my half marathon next month. My training has been
God awfulless than stellar.

“How about instead of running you just lay on this step and be a blob like me. Also, can you hand me that mouse?”
- A TINY HOME!
- A new Garmin because my current Garmin only tracks running. I want to explore the world of Garmin fueled biking, hiking, breathing, and scuba diving. My REI dividend is calling me to buy one.
I dream about this beauty, and reaching rhino speed.
Per usual there’s nothing I need, so a cup of coffee, bottle of Kombucha, and using my new basket for a picnic with my family suits me well. If my gift ideas don’t spark your fire check out Gifts.com for all the fanchy schmancy stuff.
DISCLAIMME: I was not paid for this post, but I did get this basket o’ goods fo free to hippity hop my way to grandma’s house like I’m red riding hood. Can someone please knit me a cape for Easter?
Q: What would you fill your basket with? Both realistically and hypothetically as I’ve done.

LOVE IT!! Good luck w/ ur 1/2 marathon!!!! I am doing a 10k and 15k next month – I feel a little underprepared and sluggish lately – I’m also semi thinking about trying a short triathlon the end of May, but not so sure I’d be ready for something like that…..
Brittany
Oh that’s fantastic!! One day I’d love to try a mini triathlon.
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I want an Easter cape too; preferably one for me and the tomato. I shall wear it while laying horizontal on the couch and eating off my boobs or the bump. In fact, that sounds like the perfect way to spend Easter to me. I will also happily eat half your fruit basket; alright fine two thirds.
Brittany
I mentally pictured all of this. It made me snicker.
Musings
I’d fill my basket with a trip to Ireland, just like you! I’ve been dreaming about that country for months now and I don’t know why – I think I need to go to figure out why!
Huge bouquets of tulips, my diploma, complete Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter book series and machine that’ll make the world stop so I can write as much as I need to without getting behind on anything else would make my Easter basket perfect 🙂
Brittany
OHHH my, your fillings sound perfect! Ireland will happen for us, I just know it! 😄
Amber
Mmm I love this post. I would fill my basket with a sweet kitty (please include toys and a cat tower!), lots of healthy vegan food, some energy and a check to pay for graduate school!
Brittany
Energy, I’ll take some too! 😝
Angie
All of my top favorite, ripe tropical fruits! I’d be in heaven. 🙂
Brittany
They were so good….
Diane @ Life of Di.
I would totally take a trip to Ireland in my Easter basket 🙂 Haha.
On a more serious note – I cannot be trusted with a bunch of chocolate in my basket so I typically only get one bunny, a book or two, some makeup (?), a new spring scarf – it’s really whatever the ‘bunny’ decides to bring each year 😉
Brittany
Truth, since we are always twins with food I too cannot be trusted. Basket empty in less than a day. 😳
Diane @ Life of Di.
Basket empty during car ride home 😩💪🏻
Brittany
🙈😂🙈👌🏻

Very cool! Your basket list looks a lot like mine. The tiny house would be for my hubby, because he has been trying to get me to agree that we must live tiny. So far I am dodging it, even though it makes perfect sense.
The Garmin would be for me, because mine is on its last legs and just lasts long enough for a marathon at my pace.
A trip would be great. Ireland, Iceland and Scotland are on my bucket list, but right now I would go to Germany, because I miss my family (though all travel in Europe is scary right now).
But for now all of the above will be in dreamland, because my pockets are empty.
So for Easter it will be fruit, veggies, oats, chocolate, coffee, tea and some awesome trail miles….
Brittany
Your realistic Easter sounds just as magical as your hypothetical! I think your hubby is onto something with tiny living, think of the trips you could go on with the money you’d save. 😝
Lindsay Edwards
Why aren’t tiny homes a customary Easter gift? I want one SO BAD. My friend at work is building one with his girlfriend. It’s so awesome.
Brittany
SO LEGIT. I binge watch tiny house nation and plan my future….
Rach @ This Italian Family
I’d take a trip to Ireland in my Easter basket too! 😉 I love the idea of fruit for Easter! My mother-in-law normally makes Easter baskets for us and that’s what she always fills my basket up with (since I can’t have normal sugary goodies). 🙂
Brittany
Perfect! The good kind of sugar. 😄
Emma @em-poweredwellness
Even an Easter basket of coffee and kombucha sounds pretty great to me! But a kitten or a plane ticket would be awesome too :). We don’t do Easter baskets anymore, but I will be getting birthday gifts for Easter this year!
Brittany
Yay for birthday!
usabaker
Great Easter idea. Hmmm might dress myself up as an Easter basket. Ireland is a wonderful place. well at least Shannon and Galway areas
Brittany
Hah!! I’d love to see you as a basket.
Rachael @ Catch Me If You Can
i’ll take the appointment after yours with Tom Hiddleson but I want him to read to me during the massage. Voice like butter that man 🙂 I dont get Easter baskets anymore but realistic I would like all the carbs home-girl is STARVING! for funsies i would like a trip to australia all expenses paid total VIP like service…because that could totally happen right?!
Brittany
Omggggg yes to Hiddles reading! Brilliant addition and even better analogy.
Nicola
Why Ireland??? Dirt tubs of seedlings cos my root veg are being stubborn this year!!
Brittany
Castles, and green, and hills OH MY! 😱
fionajarrett
I love the idea of an easter gift basket, I feel totally inspired to make one for everyone I know. (I probably won’t, but I do feel very inspired!) Big thank you for the tip on how to ripen pears too, that’ll make my Grandad very happy who has recently become very cynical about pears and their consistent hardness! Happy Easter and Ireland will happen soon!
Brittany
Right!? The pear tip was awesome!
Ellie
OMG I need a tiny home! If we pool resources I think we could get that done! One on wheels so we can travel. Oh…you weren’t including me in your tiny home? Oh…well…I might have to change that 😉
Brittany
I can buy one!!! The land part is just a bit more difficult, but on wheels is a must!
allisonfiorini
I want alllll of the cats in your post for Easter. ❤
Brittany
Yasssss!!! 🐾🐾
John Kraft
I hope you get your trip to Ireland.
Brittany
I will! Hopefully sooner rather than later.
John Kraft
We are taking off on 4/6 for Ireland. Be there for 7 weeks.
GiGi Eats Celebrities
I would like to fill my basket with a pill that will make me have a wonderful shit every morning and CURE ME of all stomach ailments.
TMI… NEVER!
Josh dV
Squatty-Potty.
Brittany
She bought me one for my birthday…. 😂😂
GiGi Eats Celebrities
Ha Ha! YEP – I am awesome and got the lovely BRITT a sexy foot throne! 😉 I want her to experience rainbow unicorns!
Brittany
Never TMI, I’ll pray you get that from the bunny. 🙌🏼
Josh dV
Haha I should have known you two would have gone through this already. So Britt….how is it?
Brittany
It’s everything and more. Makes me feel like I’m making my ancestors proud with the correct anatomical position.
Josh dV
Ahahaha
Josh dV
Lovely basket and a very thoughtful and diverting post.
I would want….a motorcycle license, to speak Spanish fluently, to be an actor on Longmire, American Gods or jump back to BSG. Practically I’d want to have more time with my family and the ability to work from home.
Brittany
Great list, Spanish motorcyclist that delivers his talents of acting out of his house, with a side card for family to come anywhere.
Josh dV
Sounds like a pretty good life. Don’t worry you can use the sidecar too.
P
Love the basket!!
Brittany
Isn’t it cute?! Thanks!
kathy @ more coffee, less talky
my husband has the Vivoactive and he loves it! and tom hiddleston is adorable; i second the massage by him 😀
Brittany
Oh excellent, I’m glad to hear a positive review! Thanks suga.
Allie Zottola
Haha, love this post! Jimmy and I keep things simple for celebrating Easter, too. I usually read about Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection in the few days leading up to Sunday and just really keep my mind focused on the sacrifice. If I had a basket to celebrate the holiday, I’d totally ask for a cat, too! I want one SO badly!
Brittany
I appreciate your approach to keeping the real reason for Easter in the front of your mind. We all should do that more, thank you!
Allie Zottola
Aww, thanks Brittany! Hope yours was awesome!
Kayse
Vegetables and tea! I mean, you’re a right, a trip would be really nice too… But it’s more likely I’d receive vegetables and tea!
Brittany
Perfect!!
Melanie @ HappyBeingHealthy
I love that Easter basket! Soooo pretty!!! I wish you all the best on your upcoming Half Marathon!!!. That’s frustrating when the training just doesn’t go like you want it to, dang it. Kev just ran a Half a couple weeks ago and he hardly trained. I could never do that (it would freak me out!!!!), but he seems so do just fine!!
Oh, and that bowl of oatmeal looks divine. Makes me want to face plant my computer screen. Yum!
Brittany
I ran a half underprepared for the first time 2 halves ago, and it opened the flood gates. It was painful, but now that I know that it’s possible I never train the way I should. This will be the third one I run underprepared, but this one will be the most unprepared. I’m scared. 🙈
katalysthealth
What a cute basket!
I have a husband who could TRY to give me a massage for the rest of my life, but he’s so bad at it its not even worth it. I didn’t even know you coulld be bad at massages! Guess I married the one man who is 😉
So YES to a massage every day.
Brittany
Haha! I didn’t know either! I always want one.
Nicole @ Foodie Loves Fitness
Ha, love your “list” of wants! That’s awesome that your mom still gives you an Easter basket. When my grandma was still alive, she would send me little presents for every single holiday – VDay, Easter, Thanksgiving, even St. Paddy’s Day. It was so much fun!
Soo I’m going to Ireland later this year and I’m definitely excited about it! 🙂
Brittany
I can’t wait to read about your adventures! How sweet of your grandma!
Jade
That rewind time reasoning is too real. Happy Easter!
Brittany
Right?! Those of us that have worked customer service know all too well…
Jade
Oh, going back to yell at customers would be so rewarding…
Amy
An iron gut 👈 YES PLEASE!!! I’m still looking for the barcode on mine, but… As soon as I find it, I’m returning it and getting a newer model that actually works. 😉 Hang in there Brittany — all of those gut issues are bound to get better soon!
Brittany
Amen my twin, we’re in this together! 🙃❤️
Heather
Love your winged mother statement… I have to say that my mom’s the same. I think you should apply to be on the Tiny Homes show. Every time I watch it I think of you 🙂 Not sure what I’d put in my basket. I know my dad’s answer because it’s what he always asks for… World Peace.
Brittany
I’m obsessed with that show, perhaps that’s the push I need! I do want a unique to me home!
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy
Oh look! It’s a cat in a box! It’s almost like cats like boxes or something.
My Easter basket would include an appetite, as I seem to have lost mine 😦
Brittany
Oh no!!! Can you take some of mine, I seem to never stop eating lately. 😖
Josie @ Literature Mistress
Realistically I filled my own basket with a chocolate Easter bunny and some colourful eggs. Hypothetically I love the tiny houses you linked to! But I’m not set on that – a trip to Ireland would be OK as well I guess. 😉
Brittany
I had my fair share of chocolate bunnies too. 🤗
darwinontherocks
If you managed to get the ability to rewind time for Easter, please drop me a line. I’m interested :p
Brittany
Unfortunately I maxed out my wishes on chocolate bunnies this year, maybe next time! 😝
dave379
I found out about a month ago that a woman from my running group and her fiance just moved into a tiny home! Awaiting a tour. Some freshly baked pumpkin bread, pound cake, and strawberries are calling to me at the moment as hearty healthy basket fillers. I also don’t need much but wouldn’t say no to a European walking vacation and a magic wand that with a proper flip just take care of the dishes. Good luck with the half marathon 🙂 I just did one last weekend!
Brittany
Pumpkin bread…YES. I’m so ready for spring/summer, but fall flavors call to me year round. I hope you get that tiny house tour, one day I’ll be able to have people tour mine too! 😝
Christina Does It All
Love your Easter basket and list! Let’s share nut butter together sometime. And by share I don’t mean lick off the same spoon, because that might be weird. But like, take turns sharing nut butter together. But with different spoons.
Brittany
😂😂 deal, I’ll even let you spoon first.
Noemí
Aw, that’s a very sweet post! I hope you had a happy easter!! 🙂
Brittany
Thank you friend, I did!
Anthony
Which Garmin are you thinking about. I am lusting after the Garmin edge and the vivofit
Let me know how your experience goes.
Brittany
I want the vivoactive! The one shown above, it’s so beautiful. It’s going to happen, I just need to go get it because through REI I can’t order online.
mtetar
Beautifully filled basket. Thank you for stopping by my blog today and clicking the Like Button. Be Blessed because you’re, Mtetar
