After a month and a half, I finally got my fanny in my kitchen and baked. Nothing new, and nothing too wild, but boy did it feel good. Work party = cookies.
I made my favorite chocolate chip coffee cookies, because what’s a Starbucks party without coffee in your cookies. I subbed some Trader Joe’s chocolate bars for chocolate chips, which resulted in chocolate CHUNK cookies. So.Good.
I was amazed by how different each of the chocolate bars I used were. Of course I had to sample them as I chopped them up. My next goal <—chocolate connoisseur.
I used decaf Christmas blend in these cookies because I wanted to highlight the beauty of this blend, but I also wanted to sleep that night. Thus decaf. While I waited for my second batch of cookies to bake I had a quick and easy coffee tasting.
Tasting Notes: Christmas blend has been a yearly tradition for the last 30 years. It was first introduced with the hopes of building a small following, and has become one of the most popular blends Starbucks sells. Rare aged Sumatra beans give this blend a spicy, cedar, and syrupy flavor that pairs well with the flavors of the season.
The coffee itself has an intense, but lovely bite to it, and the cookies have a smooth and subtle sweetness. The spice from the coffee balanced well with the sweet from the cookie. Cookies and coffee were made for each other, wouldn’t you agree?
Good friends, good food, good life.
Q: Do you have holiday work parties? I have the most amazing coworkers, we enjoy spending time together outside of work. It’s quite a blessing.

Just a quick note for any other British people reading this post, in America ‘Fanny’ means bottom/arse/rear etc……..NOT what it means over here. Panic over!!
Back to the cookies, they look very yummy, might give them a try this weekend!!!!!
Brittany
OMG. I just Googled the British meaning. HAHAHA AWKWARD. WHOOPS. Yes, thank you for clarifying. 🙂
thesuffolkstrider
Ha ha my pleasure. Us Brits always have a good snigger when you Americans talk about slipping stuff into your fanny packs. Small things humour small minds lol.
Great post tho, and they do look yummy!!
50statecanuck
Haha – I just googled it as well…VERY awkward!! LOL!!!
thesuffolkstrider
Depends on how you use it in a sentence i guess. Once met an American girl on holiday who proceeded to tell me for a good 10 minutes what a pain in her fanny her boyfriend was!! Took about 10 minutes of awkward blushing and thinking how forward this girl was until i realised she meant her backside lol.
dancinginaugustrain
Looks so so good…must go make coffee asap…
megasaurusyoung
Soooo… these look amazing 🙂 Do you deliver… Chicago please!
Brittany
I don’t know if any cookies would make it into a box to deliver, I fear eating them all!!

Mmmm… I usually stick to dark roasts and have passed over the Christmas Blends a few times now, but that description may have sold me! Spicy and cedary sounds like my kind of cup 🙂
Brittany
If you enjoy dark roasts you would enjoy Christmas!! It’s a dark blend, and that Sumatra really makes it fantastic!
ktlins
Perfect! Thanks!

My mouth started watering the second I saw the cookie dough! Yum!

Party without cookies? Is there such a thing?
Brittany
No…no there is not. That is what we call a meeting.

charissarunning
Those cookies look divine! Mmmm… those chocolate chunks… Yum!
I work in an office at a university with only 3 other people so we don’t do much party-wise. However, the school has had 2-3 department-related holiday parties. They’re always pretty fun because who doesn’t love free food and booze?! One of the parties included a punch competition 😀
Change of Pace
I would love it if you became a chocolate connoisseur! Yum- I bet your holiday party was quite tasty 🙂
We had an office potluck last week. I made cookies that were apparently delicious. However, my appetitie is off again and I’m not into sweets right now. People think that’s a good thing at this time of year. Not for me!!!
Amy @ A Desert Girl
I should surprised Kevin with these cookies and some coffee. Wife of the year would be in the bag….
Brittany
Wife of the century is more like it.
apartmentwife
does it feel good to bake? i don’t claim to be particularly good at it, but sometimes i wake up and just wanna make things in the kitchen. it makes the whole house smell nice, it tastes so, so good, and it makes all the recipients very happy to know you 🙂

One of my co-workers made cookies like this the other day, but we used Willow Blend and put a homemade Cherry icing on them. DIVINE!
I may be making cookies with Christmas Blend soon… sounds brilliant!
Brittany
What a great way to use Willow!! I can’t say I appreciate it as a coffee, but mixed into baked goods I could definitely see it blending well!!
BabetaRuns
Yumm Yumm!
I still haven’t had this year’s Christmas blend! Horrible me!
Lety C
You are abslutely right! What’s cookies without coffee and what’s coffee without cookies!! I will try them!
Heather
My boss loves decaf and the Anniversary Blend is what I got him for the holidays. I should have stole some to make these cookies! We had a whole day of cookies, fittingly called Cookie Day, at work and it was fabulous. I prob gained 5lbs but it was so worth it!
The Vegan 8
Oh girl, that I think you know by now is my favorite combo….chocolate and coffee! I think you’ll like the post I just did today, LOL! These look so pillowy soft and gorgeous and I can only imagine how flipping fantastic they must taste!! I’ll definitely need to try that coffee blend, it sounds so delicious!
Amy
TJ’s chocolate chopped up for cookies is my FAVE! Seriously. All that chocolaty goodness… And it melts way better than chocolate chips. We definitely need to have a cookie/coffee tasting whenever we hang out!
Brittany
DEAL!!!
hellotofit
I’m ashamed…I’ve never had this coffee and cookie combo you speak of! It looks and sounds so delicious 🙂 we had a work holiday party a couple weeks ago. It’s nice to get together for a bit outside of work, and while we’re not in our work uniforms!
Hannah
These look yuuuuummyyy! I don’t have work parties, but my husband does and I drink waaay too much at them. Every year. Without fail. It’s a spectacle.
nearlywes
They look so fluffy!
Ellie
My work is doing Secret Santa this year but no party. We basically had a party while we worked today so that was sufficient for us 🙂 I am going to my best friend’s work party tomorrow and it looks to be a festive fun time!
Khushboo Thadani (@KhushbooThadani)
Coffee & chocolate chip cookies? Giiiirl you know I am all over these!! I need to get on board with experimenting more with the various Starbucks blend- this one in particular sounds yummy!
ElleG
Can’t go wrong with chocolate and coffee cookies. Mmm, looks so good, I might have to bake these this weekend.
P
These cookies sound AWESOME! I wish I was at your work party!
kamillej2014
Coffee combinations are a bit of an interest of mine. Thanks for this one:)
Melanie
Oh my! Chocolate chip cookies are my absolute fav and using chocolate CHUNKS sounds heavenly!!!
Lucie
You have noooo idea how much that first sentence made me giggle, I am such a child! Please post this recipe! I’m such a coffee lover and am DYING to know what these coffee cookies taste like!
Brittany
OMG I had no idea what fanny meant in the UK until the first guy commented on this post!!! I was LIKE OH NO!! HAHAHA. It still totally works either way for its meaning though….no shame.
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
I fell in love with the Christams blend, and I’m kind of starting to freak out about what I’m going to do when it’s no longer Christmas. I mean… I love Pike, but the spiciness of Christmas can’t be beat, especially with an extra dash of cinnamon. Also… chocolate connoisseur sounds like the best job ever.
Brittany
You could always buy yourself a bag of Christmas beans to brew at home…I plan to keep the spirit alive for AT LEAST a few months after Christmas. HA.
Jessica
Coffee cookies?! This looks incredible. I will certainly be making these at my next Christmas party.
Also, I love love LOVE the Christmas blend!
Food, Booze, & Baggage
Looks yummy per the usual:) I love a good pot-luck party!
SaltlifeClemson
Those cookies look good.

Work party= cookies? Take words of wisdom: LIFE= cookies. I may have not had a lot of life experiences at the small age of 19, but boy oh boy do I know that this is the best advice you will EVER receive. Actually, it’s not even advice. It’s fact!
Brittany
Ohhh man, I like your style!! FACT of the century.
harveylisam
That’s one of the few things I miss about being home this time of year (other than family, of course) — the Christmas baking!! Looks delish 🙂

How fantastic, thank you! ❤
Arman @ thebigmansworld
trolololol. You said fanny.
You need to write a novel on cookie and coffee pairings. Seriously.
Brittany
Does fanny mean the same in AUS as it does in UK!? Becausee….I had no idea it meant two different things. It could go both ways the way I used it…but I definitely meant my butt. HA.
I daydream about writing a coffee tasting book…all the time.
Faraday's Candle
Cookies & hot cocoa= Party!
kim
Those cookies look amazing! Sadly, since I am a nanny I have no co-workers and that means…no work Christmas party…
Nicole
Those cookies SERIOUSLY look amazing!!!! 🙂
Matt @ Runner Savvy
I don’t really hang out with my coworkers after hours. I see too much of them as it is!

Thank you! Love you girl!

I will be doing all my fall and winter baking b/w Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Nothing like a good procrastination eh? I DID attempt to make some vegan maple fudge on Sunday, but it was an epic fail. First time trying to make fudge, I didn’t have a candy thermometer, the directions weren’t all that clear, and it never got hard. I was sad. And now I’m slightly scared to make the other 2 new recipes I have on my list…we do have parties at work, but the holiday parties we have, the company pays for it which is nice! But we do try to have frequent potlucks. Only problem is that most people don’t care about anything being healthy…lol. One time, we ended up with 5 people each bringing donuts. Ya.
varinaj
This. sounds. awesome. Reading this description = one of those times when smell-o-vision would be super useful.
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I actually got a bunch of different coffees for Christmas, including several Starbuck’s flavors, most notably Christmas Blend. So basically bring the cookies, and I’ll provide the coffee.
