  • Christmas at Starbucks

Posted at 6:18 AM by Brittany, on November 19, 2014

I’m not one to spend my money on random items. I have been known to hoard my pennies which has allowed me to have a comfortable pillow to sit on should any emergencies arise. I’ve never felt a strong pull towards impulse purchases, and will usually only buy something if I really, REALLY love it. Or if it’s food…

I spend all the pennies on food.

$3.00 for one cupcake, sure take my money.

$3.00 for one cupcake, sure take my money.

With that said, I try to balance things out every so often by buying something for myself…just because. I usually end up buying a Starbucks mug, but only when they go on sale. I cannot justify spending more than $5 on a mug, so I wait.

This Christmas season Starbucks has over 100 different mug designs, and while I see many that I adore, none spoke to me enough to purchase. Except this one.

    005

This 3 oz demi cup is the perfect addition to my collection. Once I saw the trees I knew I had to have it. I also decided to buy this years advent calendar. I wanted it regardless, but really jumped on the opportunity when one wound up having a broken package.

    fy15_advent_calender_us_0

The merchandise itself is 100% in tact, but with a broken outer shell it was “un-sell-able.” I got it for 80% off, meaning I spent a whopping $6 on it. OH and it comes with a $5 gift card, so I spent $1. I didn’t want this for the chocolate treats that I won’t be eating, but FOR THE MAGNETIC REUSABLE CHALKBOARD!!!

Ready or not it’s Christmas at Starbucks. This is my favorite time of year and all the Grinch’s that come in complaining about the decor make me want to pull them a decaf shot faster than Mary Poppins can pull a tree out of her purse.

While I love the holidays, I don’t love the temperatures that come with it.

    IMG_3131

Who needs feelings in their fingertips anyway?

    IMG_3192

    Time for 3987238957 layers.

Try not to be envious of my selfie photo quality. This is why I don’t take selfies.

Despite all my Christmas talk, I’m so excited for Thanksgiving and I’ve got my stretchy pants ironed, pressed, and ready to be worn for approx. 15 days post feast. I’m going to need all the help I can get with that elastic waistband. Real talk in 3..2..1..

    thanks

Q: Who’s ready for the holidays!?!?!

I was -this- close to picking up that Advent calendar when I was in TO, but I was afraid it would get busted on the way home so I held off and now I can’t find one here in Edmonton! I’m not even sure I could eat the chocolates (allergies) but omg the packaging is too cute for words. Must.go.calendar.hunting 😯

MY FINGERS DO THAT TOO!!!!! No matter how many pairs of gloves i wear or keeping my hands in my pockets… never helps. Also i’m 100% in love with all the sbux mugs this year… I have approximately 1 billion mugs so I probably won’t let myself buy any of them… but still. all so cute. Good job on the $1 chalkboard! HA

That mug is really cute! YAY on your super cheap purchase!

I try to be reasonable with money but also like to spend it on things I enjoy/vacations/good food/ALL THE CHRISTMAS DECOR! This is the first year I have a house and my hubby doesn’t know what he’s in for – my holiday decorating is going to be borderline excessive! 🙂

I LOVE that mug!!! I must visit a Starbucks ASAP to see if they sell it in Canada!
In the first photo- normally I’d gravitate to the food. Today I gravitated to the green, sunshine, and palm tree!

What if I told you I do in fact own a pair of maternity slacks…because they are 1943974x more comfortable to wear at work than regular ones!?? HAHAA. I actually wear a dress to work so I’m always comfortable, but the off chance I wear pants they are def stretchy in the waist. No shame.

I have about 6 different Christmas playlists on Spotify so I can alternate and not get burned out, the apple cinnamon lattes are all in my belly and I’ve been making soups like a boss.

You had me at reusable magnetic chalkboard. I might have even paid full price. Alright fine, half price.

We have an advent calendar which gets passed around to all the ladies in our family. Last year, I was the lucky recipient and this year I get to fill it for my lovely sister in law. We fill it with 24 small gifts, one for each day leading up to Christmas. It’s actually a lot of fun.

SO YOU. more exactly: so you circa summer 2014. blissfulbrit in the mountains and all that. oh, and that advent calendar? swoooon. has chocolate ever looked so good? i swear i wouldn’t want christmas to arrive just so the calendar surprises and goodies could keep coming.

That magnetic chalkboard might just be the best storebought advent calendar I’ve ever seen. Storebought because nothing will ever beat the calendar my mum put together for us when we were still living at home every year.
Until now – we had our first day of zero degree weather today – my fingers have been okay but my toes. Oh boy …I swear it took more than half an hour to warm up when I finally got home after work. Because our office is only slightly warmer than outside. Or at least it feels that way.

Ok, I want that chalkboard!! Super cute and colorful. You are hilarious…love that selfie, LOL! And I love the stretchy pants, hahaha. $3 for a cupcake?? Well, if I was craving a cupcake bad enough, I’d pay for it too. In fact, I just remembered…I paid $4 for one awhile back at Sprinkles. They only had 1 vegan option, so damn, I paid it! It was a terrible grease ball though…there was so much oil in it, I could have moisturized my body with it.

I was just in Starbucks yesterday and noticed all of the amazing mugs they had this year! I’m LOVING that tree one (and may have to buy it for myself.) 🙂 I also loved several of the ‘to-go’ mugs. By the way, I’m still seriously considering a job at Starbucks. We have one that is half a mile from our house and I will be needing to do some kind of part-time work come the end of January/beginning of February. I feel like they could be somewhat flexible? I remember you told me to go in and talk with the manager so I will be sure to do that if I apply!
