    ob·ses·sion

: someone or something that a person thinks about constantly or frequently

: an activity that someone is very interested in or spends a lot of time doing

    20140607-091633-33393485

    20140607-165317-60797315

It’s safe to say I am officially obsessed with hiking. I think about it all the time, and I partake in it every weekend, usually twice. When I’m bored I look at photos of mountains, or browse REI for new gear.

    20140607-091640-33400525

I hiked not one, not two, but three mountains this weekend. Two of them in one day, I just can’t get enough. Two of these hikes were new to me. The first one was the Rattlesnake Mtn Trail. Amazing.

    20140607-092334-33814688

I continue to be in awe of each vantage point I come to.

    20140607-091642-33402529

    20140607-092333-33813819

    20140607-091641-33401081

    20140607-091633-33393945

It’s amazing to me how at peace I feel when I am in the trees. I could literally sit atop a mountain like this for hours staring at one spot.

The trifecta: Mountains, trees, and water.

The trifecta: Mountains, trees, and water.

Rattlesnake was about 5 mi total, but I needed more. So I ventured over to Little Si, which is a smaller version of the hike I did last week.

    20140607-091639-33399752

This trail was full of the most lush foliage I’ve ever seen.

    20140607-091639-33399289

    20140607-091638-3339881320140607-091632-33392968

The view at the top was like a sea of trees.

    20140607-091637-33397874

    20140607-091637-33397429

I have found my summer passion. I think it’s time to invest in some real hiking shoes, and camping gear. As if I needed another reason to love my time with nature, back to back hiking calls for epic refueling.

Q: Where do you feel most alive? Next to chocolate cake, and in the forest.

I feel most alive when I sweat, I think. It’s like your whole body is responding to all of the energy your exerting and everything just… clicks. Also, when I drive with the windows down, music up, and see all of the views on a roadtrip. ❤

I’m pretty sure those are whole cloves of garlic on that epic pizza.

Your hiking pictures are glorious, although what I love most is how much you come alive when you talk about hiking. I actually hiked for the first time in a long time this weekend (maybe since I was a kid and we went camping) with Amanda Spoons, and I thought about you often and how much you would have loved it, and I would have loved to have you there.

We have the Metroparks in Ohio, so it’s not mountains but it’s really good hiking nonetheless. We’ll put it on the list for when you come because you will be coming to Ohio one day. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

THOSE ARE WHOLE CLOVES and oh my GOD were they amazing. You would have LOVED them. I seriously died at those hiking photos from Blend, such GORGEOUS mountains. Utah is a gorgeous state.

        Metroparks…added to the list. BOOM!

I want to go hiking out there with you badly. There’s only one good place for hiking around here and I plan on getting out there in August when all the craziness settles down a bit.
The views in colorado and hiking/skiing there made me feel most alive. As well as skydiving 😉

The mountains are the love of my life and where my soul really comes alive. I’m about a 3 hour drive from them, but I’m hoping to make it out there regularly this summer so that I can do a lot of hiking. We did some at Blend this weekend (wish you were there!) but it wasn’t nearly enough for me. Gorgeous shots, lady!

When do I feel the most alive? I probably feel the most alive when I go a new city. I love exploring the world around me. I love the energy of cities.

I do love me a good forest or woodland adventure.

I’m a total mountain snob growing up in Colorado but wow do I need to come to the PNW! You have some incredible views there. Hiking is one of the things I miss most about where I’m living now — it was a summer tradition in my family to go hiking at least a few times, especially when we used to camp. Right now, running on the river trail is good enough for my dose of nature!
