I ran 7 miles on Sunday. I ran 7 miles. I ran one more mile than my longest distance to date. I ran 7 miles.
Days have since passed, and I am still on a high from this run. I ran from one town to another, and this run FLEW by. This was one of the best runs I have ever had. Lately I have upped my carb intake BIG time. I am really focusing on eating a lot of carb heavy foods on my run days, and so far I haven’t felt the usual fatigue I was used to feeling! This was the first run where I genuinely felt like I was ready for my half marathon.
My only complaint on this run was towards my running shorts. There is a band of elastic around the bottom of the leg holes, and it’s never bothered me on my shorter runs, but this time around mile 6 I felt it…the rash!
Ewww..seriously…so gross (name that commercial.) This is nasty, and it hurt like whoa. I had a hard time focusing the last half mile because my shorts were grinding on my skin. I will def be needing new shorts for the longer miles. Anyway, to end on a positive note I am looking forward to my 8mile run this Sunday!
A warrior meal was needed after this run. I channeled my inner frat boy while preparing this meal. Manfriend found some awesome vegan dogs, and I found this vegan macNcheezzee.
Do you know where this is going..oh yes. Macaroni and hot dogs!!
I couldn’t completely abandon my vegetables. Plus, I don’t know how to eat macNcheese of any kind without spinach. It makes the meal. I felt rebellious eating a meal almost completely packaged. It literally took 10 minutes. Needless to say I could run 10 marathons, sweat out all of my sodium molecules, and still have enough left over to go about my daily tasks after these packaged meals. Whooaa sodium!
In random news: Lately I have been enjoying some coffee shop blogging.
There is something about drinking tea, free wi-fi, and people watching while blogging that makes it feel like an adventure. I think next time I will bring a bed sheet to make a fort and my Buzz Lightyear cape to disguise me. Whenever someone drops a crumb from their muffin I will swoop in for the kill.
Q: Do you like blogging in public locations like bookstores, or coffee shops?

Runner highs are fabulous highs to ride! Congrats on your long run, that is so exciting! That is to bad about your rash though. I’ve never had a rash myself but I have seen lots of products at race events to help with it. I don’t remember the names of the products though because I have never used any! I never want to lug my computer to a coffee shop so have never blogged from anywhere other than home 🙂

CONGRATS, runner’s high is the best. This is awesome and so good for you. Proud of those miles. And a great meal to refuel. Love it.

yay for your run! I had an amazing run today, 4 miles – not nearly as an accomplishment as 7 though! & I love doing homework/studying at coffee shops, but I tend to blog from home when I have some free time!

WOOOOOO!!!! You are awesome.

So proud of you. I get leg rash sometimes from running shorts when it’s humid. I wear spandex most of the time now to prevent these issues though hehe. 😉

Congratulations!! 🙂 Seven miles is awesome!

Yay!! Congratulations on your accomplishment! That is sooo far!! I get tired just thinking about it, lol! I think there’s a product you can swipe on your skin that stops friction, it protects your skin with a coating that washes off. I used to get that from my sports bra on my upper arms.. but that was back in the day when I could run:D

AWESOME!! Congrats on a totally stellar run!
I love working out of coffee shops and bookstores. There’s such a different energy about them, and it really helps me concentrate and focus in different ways versus sitting alone at home.

Purchase some undergarments that help protect against the chaffing (sp?) during your long runs. I learned that lesson back in 2005 because for about 1 week I had a hard time walking with the sore spots.
I have never blogged in public – my life is a mad house and I rarely get to a coffee shop let alone in public without my wild children begging for everything they see. LOL.
The meal looks good (I am a carnivore) with my own substitutes of course. Carbs definitely help with the run and the workout of any kind. Gives you the extra BOOST you need to keep you going.

Congrats on 7 miles!! That is so great to hear! Sorry to hear about your shorts bugging you. I wore long pants and they worked really well. At least you still have plenty of time to see what works for you.
I love blogging at coffee shops. Although there are people distractions, I find it’s much less distracting than at home with cat, laundry, tv, etc. distractions.
It has been a while since I did that. I may have to go soon!

You go, girl!! Way to rock those 7 miles! I am so proud of you! 🙂
And your whole Starbucks scenario totally cracked me up. I could so see you there with a fort made out of a sheet. 😉

I blog while sitting on the toilet in a McDonalds. LMFAO! NO NO NO I do not! McDonalds doesn’t offer free WiFi… LMFAO! JK Again. I haven’t been to a McDonalds since I was like 5 years old… I blog from home. Never really tried going to a coffee shop to do it, feel like I would get far too distracted by the crazies walking in who are dying without their coffee!! But perhaps if I just want to write a blog post about people walking in and out of an LA Starbucks… that could be interesting, snap photos of each person… Oh man, I am coming up with something brilliant! Maybe when you come to LA, we can meet up and do a joint post!! GENIUS, no?
Brittany
Bahaha you are outta control..that’s why you’re my favorite. I want to meet up sososooo badly, I am worried my schedule for the half marathon won’t allow it. POOP. I will be coming to LA again though..we will meet before we die. Just don’t die tomorrow ok? A joint post will be amazing.
GiGi Eats Celebrities
Well you just keep me POSTED! When are you headed out here again?? OMG speaking of POOP! I cannot WAIT FOR YOU TO WATCH the next episode of my web series, get ready for some toilet humor – sorry, I just finished editing it. LOL!
Tessa@AmazingAsset (@Tessa8m)
You are a rockstar woman, seriously this post had me smiling! Amazing job on that run, is that not the best feeling…um ever!? 🙂
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen
I just ran almost 6 1/2 miles this morning…the farthest I have ever run. The other day I ran over 6 and was so jazzed I told my friend and she responded with, “Are you training for a half marathon?” and I said “No!” But…maybe? Accidentally?
healthninja
What an amazing run and R-E-S-P-E-C-T for the 7th mile!!!
Your bowl of tofurkey-mc’n’cheese was completely earned and I wouldn’t say no to that either 😉

WOO! 🙂 Way to go on your 7 mile run! Can’t wait to hear how 8 miles goes.
Love your Starbucks photo, but as for me? Usually just blog from home. Tried a bit on an iPad, just haven’t found a good place to blog. Looks like coffee shops might be the best.
