Before I started my new job I really wanted to prioritize a few more adventures, and I went on a marvelous 9 mile journey to the summit of Tunnel Creek Trail. I wrangled a buddy so I wasn’t alone (you’re welcome mom and dad), and despite having my bag full of essentials I was missing one thing.
I forget this item often, despite the fact that I have three pair in my car – sunglasses. You see dear readers it’s mostly cloudy in my beautiful state, and the thought of sunglasses doesn’t pass my mind until it’s sometimes too late.
I find that clouds, much like with snow, almost require sunglasses more than the actual sun. Almost. With that said I’m often prepared with 9/10 of the 10 essentials for hiking.
Last year I snagged myself a fun pair of Ray-Ban’s which I adore, but I find that I need to wear a hat with them as they don’t provide proper coverage on the sides. If I wear them out and about too long my eyes will hurt, and I don’t always want to wear a hat when I run.
Naturally this meant I needed another pair, so my friends over at Sunglasses Shop hooked me up! Say hello to the Nike Excellerate Sunglasses.

These sunnies wrap around the side of my eyes so much better. I’ve worn them on multiple runs and they are SO lightweight I barely notice they are on. I also find that I don’t squint at all with these. They’re perfect for running! Or any other sport you partake in. A bit of info on this frame:

But how do they actually look on a human face?
My one and only critic of these shades is that I wish the lenses were darker. You can see my eyes, which means I can’t stare at good looking male runners without getting caught.

Ahhhhhhh this is such a fun review! So confession – for all my running and everything else, I NEVER wear sunglasses (usually a baseball cap which doesn’t really do it) and have been literally debating about getting a pair. I just don’t know what kind!! 😦 When I bike, I use $5 ones but they do not stay snug on my head, so I have to like jam my helmet into them. I know, super awesome.
I love the Nike Skylon Ace XV EV0857…. but kind of love the thought of purple lenses just because that is my favorite color and why not? 🙂

I run at so many different times of the day that wish I had sunglasses that could change with my running mood/time so for that reason alone I’d pick the Run X2 R Dark Blue and Yellow 457 so that I could change the lenses out.
I like to wear yellow lenses when I drive in dreary weather. I wonder how life changing it would have been for me, growing up in Seattle, if I’d known how magnificent it is to drive with yellow lenses?
My challenge to you is to find an inexpensive pair and wear them the next time you’re out driving and it’s foggy or raining. You can usually snag a cheap pair of shooting glasses at any sporting goods store that will give you the kind of revelatory experience I’m talking about.

I love the Nike Excellerate Sunglasses and the Premier 8.0 Matte Black 65. I used to always run in my Wiley X’s, but since I started running with a visor, I haven’t rocked the glasses in awhile. I should though. My eyes dry out when I run long distances, so I stop seeing as well at about 3 miles in. Sunglasses help combat that problem.

Human face test passed 🙂 I have a pair for riding that’s got different lenses you can swap in and out but I actually only use the clear lenses…I feel like I can’t see as much otherwise. Still good for bug-in-eye prevention though.

I like the Cruiser Black 001. They look pretty sweet. I have to wear sunglasses often because of lasic eye surgery. Which of course means my sunglasses get worn out pretty fast, so I’m always in favor of getting a new pair.
