SOO…my manifestation didn’t come true, but it’s OK! To summarize, I’ve been somewhat unhappy with my current job role at Starbucks, and I started seeking something new. I applied for a job at the Starbucks corporate office not thinking I’d hear anything, but I DID! To be honest it all happened very fast.
After meeting with the department manager, I sadly discovered that because this specific role was a time limited assignment my pay would stay the same. I’d also be loosing tips, and I’d be paying $$$ to commute to Seattle costing me a couple thousand bucks for the 6month period. Long story short, it wasn’t meant to be. That doesn’t mean I’m going to stop trying though, and I know this means something better is coming.
Let the manifesting continue.
Since I’ll be staying where I am for a bit, I want to highlight the things I can still do in my current role.
I can still…take mid week adventures to the beach for a run.
I can still…walk this dude three times a week.
I can still…”easily” ride my bike to work.
I can still…avoid the crowds of the mountains by hiking on a Tuesday.
I can still…wear this black apron to work. (Or the obnoxious Hawaiian shirt during frappuccino happy hour.)
I can still…take off on a jet plane to visit my family knowing there are plenty of other people that can cover while I’m away. Tomorrow I’m off to Arizona for a week.
Sometimes life has another plan than what we might hope for, and in time everything makes sense. I’m actively manifesting a change, which I wasn’t doing before. That alone is a fantastic place to start!
Q: Do you give up when things don’t go as planned? Nahhh, I fight even harder.

You will figure out what you want to do or what your next move should be. Your attitude is awesome! I love how you look at the bright side.
I’m a high school teacher and I understand your frustration about being unhappy and wanting a career change. The problem is, I just don’t know WHAT I want to do next. I don’t want to leave my current gig until I figure that out. I understand how you are feeling, my friend! Hang in there.
Brittany
I hear ya, I’m in the “maybe I’ll just leap and know I’ll fall somewhere” mindset haha.
allisonfiorini
You and me both sister. One of these days, I’ll fall into the right thing…I HOPE!

it seems like everything happens for a reason – something better is coming!! 🙂
Brittany
My thoughts exactly!

Good attitude: appreciate your current situation without settling for less. More people should think that way.
Brittany
I think so too, the world would be a better place.
B
I’m sure something will come along that’s an even better fit for you! And that pup is a cutie!
Brittany
Amen! I know it will. 👍🏻
LWynalek
Best attitude to have! I should take a page out of your book 🙂
Brittany
😝 we become what we think, so I keep it as positive as possible!
charissarunning
I love this whole “looking on the bright side” perspective and I think it’s something I needed to be reminded of today too. I’ve been feeling so uninspired by work lately and really want to move on but also have no idea where to start. I’m sure we’ll both get there when the time is right though and in the meantime it’s definitely good to focus on the positive 😀
Brittany
Yes! Life is much better when we’re positive. 😝
Rachael @ Catch Me If You Can
sorry it didnt work out, but i think that means there is something better waiting for you. now that you are putting all those positive vibes out there i know you will manifest something amazing!
Brittany
I think so too!
auroraroschen
I love your optimism! Just last night, I was talking with some friends about how we think of our own plan for our lives as Plan A… and God’s plan as Plan B. But God knows us better than we know ourselves and knows better than we do what is the best path for us to take! So much of life is shifting our perspective to realize that what we think is best for us pales in comparison to what God has planned!
Brittany
I love the way you worded that, it’s so true!
Angie
Nope. Never give up. There are always other — better things in the works.
Brittany
Amen! 🙏🏻
pickyrunner
Totally get this. I’m going through something very similar at the moment. I do know everything happens the way it’s supposed to work out, and you will find that next step that is a good fit!
Brittany
I’m open to the worldddd!
Jessica
You are so inspiring, lady. When life doesn’t work out the way I hope, I approach it 2 ways.
1. I think of my life mantra: What is meant for me will never miss me and what misses me was never meant for me.
2. I assess what I could have done differently, make any necessary changes and move on!
Brittany
I love your mantra! I’m using that. 👌🏻
Rach @ This Italian Family
Next time it will be an even better opportunity that fits your life better! I just know it! 🙂
Brittany
I think so too!

Great things will happen for you, keep sending out those positive vibes 😉 If it helps, I’m rooting for you!
Brittany
Thank you my friend! ❤️

This has been the story of my life over the past year too… But I’m completely content with it! God/fate/whatever you believe in has a funny way of making sure I end up exactly where I’m meant to be, and once I accepted that, I started noticing “God moments” in my life a lot more. I still sometimes struggling a little when I receive that first “no” or obvious change of direction, but when it happens again, I’m able to laugh it off and go with the flow. I know you’ll end up exactly where you’re meant to be too, and I’m excited to see where that is! Have an amazing time in Arizona (my mom just came back from visiting her parents there last weekend!) and stay hydrated and get in some great hikes!! 🙂
Brittany
Oh hi twin, as always! These are my exact thoughts. God has a plan, and I’m trusting it!
Hannah
For the love of God, go to Green!
Brittany
Go to green?
Hannah
Green Restaurant in Phoenix! If you’re going to Phoenix….
Brittany
OHHHHHHH! 😂 yes yes! That’s the one owned by the same people as Nami, right?!
Luv What You Do
Soooo jelly of your mid day runs and bike route to work!!! Keep up the positive attitude! Things will definitely fall into place for you!
Brittany
Thank you, I’ll enjoy these little joys while I can!
Ellie
It’s good your manifestation didn’t pan out, it sounds like it would have sucked for you. More money and less commute is always better than a higher title IMHO.
When something doesn’t go as planned for me, I usually get sad but then channel my energy into something else. Or I go for a run and make myself happy 🙂
Brittany
Oh I agree! I only considered it as my foot in the door to something better. Running always helps. 😝
thehipandthrifty
I’m sorry that your job offer didn’t pan out, but I’m really glad that you see the upsides of your current situation. Sometimes it’s time to move on, and sometimes you bloom where you grow, as my mom always says 🙂 Plus, you now know that your resume really does have the teeth it needs to get a position like that, and you have the experience, so if you come across another opportunity like that again, you know you’re covered. 🙂
Brittany
I like your ending thoughts, I didn’t think of it that way! Thank you. 😊
Anthony
Fret not Brit, a new and better opportunity is in store for you.
Nice Hawaiian shirt, by the way.
Brittany
I think so too, and thank you! HA.
Kristy @ Southern In Law
I totally understand your disappointment as we had disappointment of our own this past week with a house we both fell in love with.
Jesse took the give up approach whilst I decided it just meant something better was on its way. Luckily I managed to talk him out of his funk and he now realises that it simply wasn’t meant to be!
Brittany
Thank goodness he has you! It’s true, something better is just around another corner.
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy
Sorry that things didn’t turn out the way you had hoped, but it’s great that you are focusing on all of the positives.
Brittany
Something better is coming my way! 😝
katalysthealth
Im sorry things didnt pan out how you’d hoped, but girl your attitude is freaking AMAZING. Can I just say how inspiring it is to me? Cause you seriously just gave me so much motivation, just from this post. Ive been getting rejected DAILY by foodgawker for my photo submissions and have been feeling like “what’s the point?” and “how can I grow my blog without these photo submissions?”. How pathetic am I?! Thanks for the reality check girl ❤
Brittany
Omg, so funny you say this because I KID YOU NOT I ALMOST (and now I wish I had) commented on one of your recent IG photos about hot AMAZING your photos have become. You are doing so well, and you will get some accepted! It took me forever to get some accepted, but even with getting some in there it didn’t grow my blog much so don’t stress! It will happen. Keep taking great photos and just pay attention to their feedback.
The Runnin' Major
The problem is deciding whether something should be continually fought for, and when something just isn’t meant to be.
I think the trick is to just keep on keeping on, recognize the good things you have, and recognize a good opportunity when you see one. Things will work out.
Brittany
I think you nailed it. Sometimes a slight step back and just “being” in your current spot and being open to a new vision or thought helps.
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
I think walking that dude three times a week, beach runs and hopping jet planes are all fantastic things. It’s great to manifest change and it’s also good to appreciate the blessings we currently have. You are awesome.
Brittany
YOU are awesome? And a blessing. So basically I need you always. ❤️
BabetaRuns
Everything happens for a reason… I’m sure other GREAT things are awaiting for you!!!
And maybe you should come to Europe for a week or two :))
Brittany
Don’t tempt me…I WILL show up on your door step…😝
BabetaRuns
I would LOOOoOvE that!
Allie Zottola
Yes, let the manifesting continue! I know God has amazing plans for you! I hope Arizona treats you well! Also, love the Hawaiian shirt, LOL.
Brittany
God is goooood, this I know. 🙌🏼🙏🏻
Josh dV
I guess that’s not where you ought to be just now. Good on you for being open-minded enough to say no to something instead of forcing it.
Have fun in AZ! Deserts are the best!
Brittany
I do love me some dry heat. ☀️☀️
Josh dV
There’s a dirty joke in there somewhere.
Brittany
😂 always.
P
Aww, I’m surprised they wouldn’t offer compensation for commuting! Oh well, this only means something bigger & better awaits in your future 🙂 I love how you are looking at the positive benefits of your current job because they seem like awesome ones to me!!
Brittany
They DO pay half the commute cost if you get a commuting pass, which I would have done, but it still would have cost. Only worth it with a bigger paycheck 😉
Boo boo scadoo
I love the positivity and the will to never give up and always live life to the fullest, even when where not performing or simply living to our fullest potential!! If there’s is one thing that I’ve learned from reading your post is ,I love you more and more by the real life expieriances you voice and make public that most people can’t even come to the realization in there on heads. Simply amazing but my gut is surely telling me I already knew this!!! keep grinding💯Our paths are destined to cross again. Stay beautiful and fit💪💪💪💪
Brittany
You always have such nice things to say Glenn, thank you for reading. 😝
Shawna
life is all about trying things until what is meant to be “sticks” – so good for you for trying something and then making an educated decision about whether or not it was your next right move. cheers to a lifetime of tries! 🙂
Brittany
Risks here we come!
Melanie
I’m sorry things didn’t work out the way you hoped, dang it! However, I’m sure something great will end up coming your way. I always loooove all of your pictures and I hope you have so much fun in the Arizona sun!!!
Brittany
So. Dang. Hot. ☀️
dave379
Love how you’re seeing the positives and keeping it going. And where you’re at, where I’m at, where anyone is at, is always a great place to start:) Hope you enjoy AZ, I just got to NM myself for a short trip then conference.
Brittany
Must stay positive! I hope your trip was great!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Aww rats. That sucks that things didn’t quite work out, BUT I’ve always found that when things don’t go according to plan, it just means that better things are coming… just keep swimming. Or biking. And hiking 😀
Brittany
Exactly! And that’s how I’m approaching the situation. No harm, no foul, just excitement for something better!
Jade
I’m glad you’re looking at the bright side. don’t give up! you’ll find something. sending lots of good vibes your way
Brittany
Thank you! Something better is coming my way. 🙌🏼
Kayse
I love your attitude! I so wish we lived closer. Something better will come. Because you’re great.
Brittany
Thank you friend. I wish we lived closer too!

Hi Britt- you have such a wonderful attitude. Some people would be mired in gloom and doom but I really am a firm believer in staying positive, expressing gratitude and knowing that what is meant to be will be. -Kat
Brittany
I couldn’t agree more, thank you Kat!
momtheobscure
Never give up. Life is not a straight line. You seeked out an alternative, weighed your options and made a choice. Its not the only alternative and you are making the best of what you have where you are and that is awesome.
Brittany
Thank you! I couldn’t agree more, but it’s always nice having others input. 👍🏻
momtheobscure
sought not seeked! And thank you for reminding me to chin up
omobtomtom
yep! never give up 🙂
Brittany
Thank you! 😄
Josie @ Literature Mistress
In the long term it would be very sucky to give up on life – and there are always other options! So get up, adjust coronet and move on it is!
Wishing you the best of luck with any other opportunities that might come up. Commutes are just annoying. So time consuming and expensive…meh!
Brittany
Adjust and move on, YOU GOT IT! 🙂
Heather
I love your answer to your question. Makes me think of the song “I get knocked down, but I get up again, you’re never gonna keep me down” by Chumbawamba
Brittany
Yes! That song is perfection. And so catchy.
LuckyLightning
I’m enjoying reading your posts! And it’s so easy to give up when things don’t go our way, but I like to think of it as divine redirection 😉 Better things are to come, I can usually just feel it. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for you!
Brittany
I love that, divine redirection. I couldn’t agree more! ❤️
