I ate a pancake and 7 tons of sweet potatoes last week. What’d they have in common?
The prettiest darn berries you ever did see. Note, those blueberries on the tater were baked, giving them that purple color, and a gooey decadent flavor.
I also ate at least 4 homegrown tomatoes.
I didn’t see anything more beautiful that day.
Seattle with two of my favorites for a Starbucks Roastery adventure.
I decided to get a cup of tea because it was after 1pm, and if I drink coffee too late I’m like a lab rat that’s been injected with cocaine. My tea tasted like Thanksgiving and Christmas had an unwed lovechild. It was fantastic.
I tried to learn how to play the piano a handful of times in my life, and never made it past the first few pages of the beginners book.
Should I finally learn to play, I want a piano in my house with hand painted trees like the one I stumbled across at Green Lake in Seattle.
I had no intentions of participating in National Smore’s Day until the monster in my stomach that starts to crave sugar after dark reared its head.
My angelic mother not only had graham crackers tucked in the pantry, but vegan marshmallows as well. I of course had an 85% dark chocolate Theo bar in the fridge because these days I’m never without.
The best part? This was annihilated eaten at 10:30….PM! I never used to eat that late.
Funniest photo of the week goes to my dad.
I sent him a birthday card with a cat because he hates them adores their independent way of life. This photo was sent with the words “negatory.”
I have the next four days off from work.
So much excitement. I see Portland, hiking, and sleep in my future. This mini break is the first of a few to come. Livin la vida loca.
Q: What’s your random ramble for the day? Any Portland readers!?

That piano is a must have! I just realized when I own a house I definitely need to furnish it with a piano 🙂

I took years of piano (torture) lessons and could, if a gun was placed to my head, hammer out Twinkle, Twinkle lol
I’m afraid I totally agree with your dad on cats. lol

My only thought at seeing your last photo… I want to go to Disneyland!!!!! I was in SoCal last week visiting my grandparents, but we didn’t make it. Boo. It’s been way too long since my last trip! And I SO wish I could explore Seattle and go tea/coffee tasting with you. It looks like a blast! 🙂 Enjoy your mini vacation!!
Brittany
YAAASSS, I love that you recognized that was Disney! That’s why we are friends….plus a bunch of other reasons of course.

Brittany
That is awesome! My mom teaches piano and voice out of our house, and maybe about 2 years ago I attempted to try learning again with her. It lasted a week. I need to have her teach me. Piano is such a beautiful instrument.
Angela
Smores…mmmmm! Enjoy your trip!! I’m with your dad on cats too lol xo

I feel like that baked sweet potato with blueberries has to happen in my near future. Yum.
Brittany
I also slathered sunflower seed butter on it. It was nearly life changing.

What was the name of this tea you were drinking?? It sounds so good! I’ve been enjoying a hot cup of Cranberry Apple tea at work every so often…wishing it were cooler and autumn!
Brittany
It was called “Maharaja Chai Oolong” made my Teavana.

Brittany
Oh yes, I’ve been to Portland a few times (I’m just a 3 hr drive away) and I’m already planning my coffee and donut adventure! YAYYYY for hubby coming home.
Ellie
I want to go to Portland so bad! I hear there’s a huge vegan scene there so try a bunch of yummy food for me! I wish donuts could be sent through the mail because I would totally get myself some from there 😉
A Thanksgiving and Christmas tea bag? What was the flavor? I am intrigued!
Brittany
I adore Portland. Great vegan AND coffee scene. I’m very lucky to live so close. The tea was made my Teavana and it’s called Maharaja Chai Oolong.

I really love reading you blog 🙂 And I really need to bake berries in a sweet potato- that’s genius. Are you against decaf coffee? Be for-realz…. ENJOY YOUR LOOOOOOOOOONG WEEKEND!
Brittany
Oh goodness no! I have no problems with decaf. I like to try new coffees each time I go to the roastery, and I’d already had the decaf! I got a decaf coffee at Stumptown yesterday cause it was 1pm, but I needed some black goodness!

Gosh – all the simple happiness. I’m glad for the week to be done – I was off all week and my mind just felt like mush every day. Did I get enough sleep this week? I’m thinking not… =)
Jane
I always wanted to play the piano as a child and tortured the parents of my friends who had one with my terrible playing! 🙂 Gorgeous, gorgeous photos Brittany (not unusual for you though). Your posts are so full of fun and life. Have a beautiful weekend! 🙂
Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets
You are off for the next four days!! Hooray. This means we are currently both footloose and fancy free.
Also, tomatoes. I plan to get my grub on with them together…once I finish photographing them, of course. 🙂
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
That piano, though! I started playing when I was around 8 years old, but it’s been a handful of years since I’ve really done anything on one so I’m wondering if I even remember how to play. I’m thinking that having one like that in my home would definitely encourage me to practice a bit more, though 😉

I eat a lot of sweet potatoes but I never did them with BLUEBERRIES! Mind blown. Did you bake them, slice them open, add the blueberries and bake them some more? I need to try it!
Brittany
So I initially baked them until soft, then I stash them in my fridge until I am ready for one. I then toaster baked them with the blueberries, but also with some sunflower seed butter (any nut or seed butter will work) for like 5 minutes. That’s IT! It was mind blowing good.
allisonfiorini
Oh my gosh. As if I don’t eat enough sweet potatoes already. Now I’m really going to turn orange. Mmmm!
thehipandthrifty
Wow. This post was an explosion of food, art, and carousels. I like it! 🙂
PJ Sassifras
Drooling over sweet potatoes and blueberries! Genius!
I lived in Portland for two weeks in March. I love to visit, but day to day big city life was not for me. So we moved to Astoria, Oregon. LOVE. IT. Close enough to visit the big city whenever we want but still come home to our fur babies and cozy apartment on the bay.
fionajarrett
I love that piano! That is just the best picture I have seen all week and I am definitely going to try sweet potato with blueberries, if for no other reason than those amazing colours… it’s like its own little world of happiness! 😀
Brittany
I also added sunflower seed butter, that took it over the edge! So bomb.

I can kind of see the resemblance between you two! Aaaaand I am jealous of your trips to Seattle! It’s my dream place to visit 🙂
