Posted at 8:20 AM by Brittany, on October 31, 2014

Halloween – You either love it or you hate it. I happen to love it, but not for the reasons that most people do. I associate Halloween with October, and October with fall, so when these are all wrapped together I love Halloween just by fate. I also don’t complain when there is a holiday dedicated to candy.

I’m not one for dressing up, and parties aren’t my thing. The last Halloween party I attended was in 2009 and I was a pepper shaker. I know, I’m wild. The year after that I dressed up as my cat. Last year I wore a mask and went trick or treating. Yes, I am 25.

    1

No, not “a cat,” but “MY cat.” There is a difference. A regular cat is too cliche.

    Twins

These days I stay home and try to earn the title of “best house” by giving handfuls of candy to undeserving children. Whatever it takes to get the candy out of my house. Not that I am tempted by it, we usually buy candy I don’t like anyway. Plus, Halloween candy is usually filled with milk and other junk so I don’t eat it.

    Or so I thought…

    Endangered-Species-Chocolate-Halloween-Treats

I stumbled across these two vegan friendly Halloween treats and about lost my marbles. I bought both bags. While everyone is out strolling the streets for free candy, I’ll be tucked inside my house with too much candy to handle, and a box of Halloween Joe-Joe’s I’ve been patiently waiting to open. I should probably go for a run today…

On a somewhat related note, Halloween is the one time of year I haven’t been to Disneyland, but MUST. I missed the start of all things Halloween by ONE DAY this year!! I still got to see pumpkins everywhere, but the main Halloween celebration didn’t start until the next day. That’s OK..just another excuse to go back.

Q: What’s your favorite Halloween candy? I still have a spot in my heart for the pumpkin shaped Reese’s PB cups even though I don’t eat them.

I love your cat costume. And I don’t mean cat costume in general, of course. I mean YOUR cat costume. Your cat. I also like the salt and pepper shaker idea. Dressing up is pretty much the only thing I like about Halloween.

you.are.so.stinkin’.cute. i can totally see you as a/your cat. hmmm i’m not a big candy person — loved Snickers as a kid — but i love that you found “healthy” vegan candy. the only candy i realllly love is dark chocolate, with almonds or plain. yum.

So excited that there are bags of individually wrapped Justin’s Dark Chocolate PB cups! I just discovered them a couple of weeks ago… One a side note: I totally relate to “trick-or-treating” in your 20’s… When I was 23, my friend and I put sheets over our head and trick-or-treated as ghosts so no one would know how old we were. haha. We’re obviously really cool. cheers.

That is EXACTLY why we wore masks. Sure we looked taller than most kids, but there are some TALL 12 yr olds these days so with the masks we could pretend we were 12.

I’m not doing anything exciting tonight. Marty is working and I’m still very pregnant. I’m hoping to dress up next year – I haven’t since my first or second year of college. Considering Bert (Marty) + Mary Poppins (me) + little penguin (Charlotte) or Harry Potter + Ginny Weasley! 🙂

What kind of candy corn do you eat?? Traditional candy corn has gelatin in it, if you know of one that is vegan SHARE WITH ME! I’ve been wanting to attempt making my own, but haven’t tried yet.

Last year was the very first year I was able to pass out candy. I LOVED it!! We lived in a cute neighborhood with lots of little kids. This year, I’m puppy-sitting for my parents, and they live on this steep hill with only 6 houses. Nobody ever comes, so we don’t even bother buying candy. Probably a good thing too because I’d eat it all… I’m not too picky, as long as it has chocolate! 😉

Aww, I am currently passing out candy and I find it to be so much fun. I’ve been giving HUGE handfuls! Chocolate is definitely my go to also, so I’m never tempted by the suckers and jolly rancher type treats.

Did someone get a pretty blog makeover? Well a touch up? I’m so proud you went trick or treating last year. Although..I think you are an absolute twat if you handed those out to kids. You should have just opened your door and made THEM give you something.

I always said I want to come back in my next life as a cat in my own house. They fuckers have got it made.

Cute! I love that you dressed up as your own cat. Very clever :). I love Halloween, and I’m so sad it’s over. I have to take down all my decorations today, and it no longer makes sense to watch Halloween movies :(. However, I still have some homemade candy corn left so I guess that makes it a little more ok.

I saw Disney dressed up for Halloween last year, which was especially nice because I didn’t even know Disney decorated for Halloween! They also redid the haunted mansion in a Nightmare Before Christmas theme, which made me do happy dances all over the place. That being said, I’d love to see it all decked out for Christmas…

I’ve never been to Disneyland for Halloween (in fact it’s been I over a decade since I’ve been to Disneyland period) but this year I got to go to Disney World and we shelled out the extra money for Mickey’s Not So Scarry Halloween Party and I absolutely LOVED it. The decorations, the Headless Horseman, the Parade. It was all awesome and I am now determined to go every year.

Halloween candy wise, I love it all. I have issues. Trick or treaters who come to my place are lucky because I just dump all the candy into their bags so I run out quickly. I can’t control myself around that stuff!!!
