I had never been to DC before, so being a typical tourist I was more than happy to tromp around in the snow to be able to see the sights of a new town. I was swooning so hard over the buildings and have more than enough photos to show for it, but first – pancakes. Megan and I found a recipe that I happily slaved for hours ten minutes to create.
These were too legit to quit. SO bomb. Gluten/dairy/& egg free. Perfect exploration fuel.
I don’t know many other people that would gladly walk in the snow just to explore, and for that I adore Megan to pieces. She also happens to be a fantastic action photographer…
I really had my heart set on riding one of these bikes, I wish my town had the bike share option. Instead, I need to just BUY A BIKE already! We of course found the White House, and the Washington Monument. Obama invited us to brunch, but I was set on Woodlands.
Found a few free museums to wander into.
I hate snow more than anyone, but this gray snowy day sure made for some fun photos. I didn’t dare carry my dSLR though, so the iPhone had to suffice. Such a charming city.
Q: Have you ever been to DC?

DC is one of my favorite places in the world – loved seeing your pictures! It made me want to go there soon! And those pancakes look so epic and right up my ally!

You got some great pictures this week! I never used the bikshare in my 4 months interning in DC… I have no idea how that happened but now I’m kind of wishing I did use it because it’s pretty awesome. I need to get my butt back down to DC again soon!

The snow does look pretty 🙂 I have not been to DC in years but I went a ton when I was a child. I love the Smithsonian! I use to get upset at Sunday school about the creation story because they never talked about the dinosaurs and I had seem them 🙂

Those pancakes – DROOL. I haven’t had pancakes in what feels like a decade, I gotta make some! I love the day that you guys had, so fun. I have never been to DC, but I would have gladly stomped around in the snow with you cool cats!

Love the photos! There is such history in DC!
I’ve never been, but Kelly went for a conference one year and I drooled over his photos, too!

Looks like a fun (and cold) trip! I missed out on my 8th grade trip to DC because of 9/11. Boo! I’d love to get there one day!

SO good. I used PB instead of AB because that’s what we had, and I used a brown rice flour instead of whole wheat, but I didn’t use a binding agent so they didn’t hold like regular pancakes…but I didn’t care one bit. If you follow this recipe instead of tweaking I’m sure they’ll be perfect! Now I want more….

Made these for breakfast this morning, ate them all. No shame.

One of my really good friends moved there today…I plan on going up there sometime this year. What time of year is best would you say to visit DC? Summer or Fall?

I honestly have no idea, this was my first time to DC and I don’t know what the weather is like any other time. If it’s anything like most places though I would definitely suggest fall. I think it gets pretty hot/humid in the summer!

My brother in law lives in DC. He used to work for the Library of Congress then the Holocaust Museum. We love visiting him! I’m mad jealous of your new boyfriend.

I went to DC for Obamas initial inauguration and it was truly the most incredible city I have ever visited. I wish I knew about the bicycles! Then again, it was below freezing (in my mind) when we went so it was a lot of bundling up and staying indoors except for the big event! Thanks for sharing some of your trip with us, great photos. ❤

Wow, I love all of the pictures from D.C.! I love that area. I’ve been there a few times, and I feel like there is always something new to explore and see!

I’m loving the guided tour of DC! I’ve never been. MY city needs a bike share. What a GREAT idea!
You’re new boyfriend Paul looks a tad irritated. Did he not get any of those delicious looking pancakes?
Brittany
Oh hell no, I hoarded my pancakes like they were gold.
PJ Sassifras
Smart gal. Make sure it’s in the prenup, too. 🙂 Will the recipe be a future post? Or did I miss it here?
Megan
How did you leave out my expertly museum posed picture. What a tragedy. You should send that to me though, ASAP.
Your pictures came out so nice!!!

Oh yes ma’am! I live in Baltimore. I like it down in DC when it isn’t snowing of course. 🙂
Amy
Aww your photos bring back such fun memories! My dad and I went there last summer, and it was so fun to explore. (Quite a bit warmer and more humid back then! 😉 ) We went to the Aviation Museum, but that was it. And I ate at Chop’t 3 times in 3 days. SO good! I’m proud of you for going out in the snow — with Renaud’s, that’s rough!

DC is one of those places that Ive always wanted to go to, but its mostly just because of the history there. I would love to travel the US just to see all the historical places 🙂

Crazy, crazy weather DC has been having – and you were right there for some of it! But the snowflakes do add some charm. So glad you had a wonderful trip!

You were in DC?!?! Awesome! The best part about where we live is the free museums. I went to Pittsburgh a few years ago, and I was so confused when I had to pay to go to a museum.

The snow looks really lovely in these photos! Since I live in Baltimore, I’ve been to DC a few times. I always find it odd when people they’ve never been!
