  • Exploring DC

Posted at 4:07 AM by Brittany, on April 3, 2014

I had never been to DC before, so being a typical tourist I was more than happy to tromp around in the snow to be able to see the sights of a new town. I was swooning so hard over the buildings and have more than enough photos to show for it, but first – pancakes. Megan and I found a recipe that I happily slaved for hours ten minutes to create.

These were too legit to quit. SO bomb. Gluten/dairy/& egg free. Perfect exploration fuel.

I don’t know many other people that would gladly walk in the snow just to explore, and for that I adore Megan to pieces. She also happens to be a fantastic action photographer…

I really had my heart set on riding one of these bikes, I wish my town had the bike share option. Instead, I need to just BUY A BIKE already! We of course found the White House, and the Washington Monument. Obama invited us to brunch, but I was set on Woodlands.

Found a few free museums to wander into.

I hate snow more than anyone, but this gray snowy day sure made for some fun photos. I didn’t dare carry my dSLR though, so the iPhone had to suffice. Such a charming city.

Q: Have you ever been to DC?

You got some great pictures this week! I never used the bikshare in my 4 months interning in DC… I have no idea how that happened but now I’m kind of wishing I did use it because it’s pretty awesome. I need to get my butt back down to DC again soon!

The snow does look pretty 🙂 I have not been to DC in years but I went a ton when I was a child. I love the Smithsonian! I use to get upset at Sunday school about the creation story because they never talked about the dinosaurs and I had seem them 🙂

SO good. I used PB instead of AB because that’s what we had, and I used a brown rice flour instead of whole wheat, but I didn’t use a binding agent so they didn’t hold like regular pancakes…but I didn’t care one bit. If you follow this recipe instead of tweaking I’m sure they’ll be perfect! Now I want more….

I honestly have no idea, this was my first time to DC and I don’t know what the weather is like any other time. If it’s anything like most places though I would definitely suggest fall. I think it gets pretty hot/humid in the summer!

I went to DC for Obamas initial inauguration and it was truly the most incredible city I have ever visited. I wish I knew about the bicycles! Then again, it was below freezing (in my mind) when we went so it was a lot of bundling up and staying indoors except for the big event! Thanks for sharing some of your trip with us, great photos. ❤

Aww your photos bring back such fun memories! My dad and I went there last summer, and it was so fun to explore. (Quite a bit warmer and more humid back then! 😉 ) We went to the Aviation Museum, but that was it. And I ate at Chop’t 3 times in 3 days. SO good! I’m proud of you for going out in the snow — with Renaud’s, that’s rough!
