Starting tomorrow I am finally headed back to school. I’ve kept my education plans hush for a while because I wasn’t sure what was going to happen, but cats out of the bag-it’s time to get my learn on. With that said, I’ve been soaking up as much adventure as I can.
In all reality I am only taking one summer class right now, and it’s only two days a week. My schedule will hardly be affected, but any excuse for adventure is a good one in my book! This weekend I had a blast.
I met up with Alex for an exceptional donut and lake walk date. We chatted and walked for a couple hours and it was as if we were old time friends. I just adore her optimistic spirit, what a gem!
We walked roughly 6 miles, and then after I dropped her off I headed back to the lake to get in a run and some more walking.
I ran just around 4 miles, and walked another 2 bringing my total of the morning to about 12 miles. I was ready to destroy a donut.
I could totally get used to running around a gorgeous lake followed by donuts and coffee everyday…ppsh who needs school? Kidding…kind of. I did need some real food though, so I spent my life savings on 1.2 pounds of food from Whole Foods salad bar.
The very next day I went for a hike at the mountain near my house. I’ve hiked this trail too many times to count on one hand, so I decided it was time to explore some more. I ended up stepping foot on all four trails of the mountain, adding an additional 1.5 hrs to my hike.
I honestly didn’t have much of an idea where I was, but I knew eventually I would be spit out onto a familiar trail. My friend was along for the ride, and I was sure she wanted to kill me.
The multiple trails took as around the mountain instead of straight up. After finally finding the top, we enjoyed a 20 minute eat/rest.
5 hours and at least 10-11+ miles later we made it down in one piece.
Today I am headed to Seattle for another bigger mountain hike, stay tuned for a post on that. I also post my hiking adventures to my Instagram if you wanna follow me there..ya know..if ya wanna.
Q: What is your idea of a fabulous adventure? Good food, good company, and a GOOD outdoor workout. All wrapped into one day.

Those trails look gorgeous!! For me, a fabulous adventure is definitely a decent trail run – particularly one with lots of hills or a mountain!
Davida @The Healthy Maven
So fun you met up with Alex! I hope you ate an extra (3) donut(s) for me!!!
sincerelylily
you are soooooo active!!! i love it. and why is your hair so perfectly done in every picture??? i never look that. ever. I love that you had some awesome workouts but even better, you spent them with some friends. There ain’t nothing better than being able to share you active day with others- it makes such good memories! I know you are probably like meeeeh schoooool, but I’m super jealous you are back! I miss it. You will do AMAZING.
🙂
Fabulous adventure involves everything your adventure involves but also probably getting lost. I get lost everywhere and it makes everything seem like an adventure. 😉
Brittany
HA these photos are very forgiving, my hair doesn’t always look perfect I assure you that! I also want to note this was after work hair, so I did NOT do my hair for a hike..no no no! HA.
lucie
Woah, those mountains, they get me every time. Im also going to be a student in september – yay ussss! Student life is always better, we get the perks of discount, who wants to be an adult anyway?
thefaithfulrunner
So glad you didn’t get lost this time! 😉 Beautiful pictures. I wish we had areas like that to hike where I’m at! My perfect weekend involves spending time with my hubby and doing something outdoors-y!
Food, Booze, & Baggage
You are one active bunny 😉 I’m surprised you were so off trail after your less planned adventure the other week…but that is awesome. Congrats on going back to school!
Brittany
Right!? I had these thoughts too…I must be crazy. HA.
Alex
AHHHH Those trails look so wicked! I want to go hiking with you SO BAD!!!!!!! Although I haven’t commented in awhile, I’ve been creepin like a stalker and loving all of your hiking pics and stories 😀 Next time I’m out in the PNW, we’re TOTALLY going on an adventure!!! I cant wait to see your next mountain hike in Seattle 🙂
AND CONGRATS on going back to school!!! How awesome!!!
Brittany
My life will not be complete until you and I meet together in the lush, tall mountains somewhere…I am not even kidding!!
Alex
AGREED 😀
Jayda
Congrats on going back to school!! Also, those donuts look delicious. I’m hungry now 😉

This looks like so much fun! And those donuts… goodness I’m drooling. A fun adventure for me is river rafting. Even if I’m familiar with the river I’m on, theres always a new fallen tree or a stronger current that you’ve got to pay attention to. One summer I took my best friend and we totally went over a small water fall, lost all of our food overboard as well as almost lost our paddles. It was hilarious and quite the adventure
Amy @ A Desert Girl
That roasted garlic looks amazing…. No one would want to be around me but I would totally eat it.
Good luck on the school adventure!
karla @ finding my fit
roasted garlic–swooon.

Brittany
Stay tuned, I’ll prob post about it soon.

Will run for donuts- heck yes! We should go for an adventure together..I am always down when it involves good company, good food and some kinda workout/activity!
Amanda @ .running with spoons.
Have I ever told you how incredibly jealous I am that you have such gorgeous mountains around you? It takes me 3.5 hours to get to mine, so I usually have to stick to “hiking” the trails in the river valley instead. Still pretty, but not the same thing. Oh, and I’m -still- on the lookout for an allergy-friendly donut shop! I’ve found cupcakes, but the donuts continue to evade me. Buggers…
Brittany
Keep searching, NEVER GIVE UP! I must say though, cupcakes trump donuts for me any day so I am glad you at least have that! 🙂

Those views are so amazing! You are so blessed to be around them! I’m dying over your donuts. You always have the best treats and always earn them from all of your activity!

Congrats to going back to school! I will admit, not finishing college is about the biggest regret I carry with me. Donuts and way too long hikes, however are on the never regret list 🙂 cheers!

Now I want a donut!
Ellie
I had a apply cider donut the last time I went to the farmer’s market! I want to try the vegan donut places but there aren’t any near me. Change the donut into a bagel and your perfect day is about the same as mine! I can’t wait to get hiking again!
Lauren @ Focused To Be Fit
Good for you for going back to school – I think it’s fantastic! Also… That apple fritter looks amazing! And you’re adorable 🙂 Such fun hiking adventures!

I often buy garlic in a bag and then freak out when I haven’t used them as much as I hoped. That means it’s time to roast a big batch of garlic. It gets all soft and sweet roasted like that and great in salads, stews, stirred through pasta or spread on toast. I haven’t met roast garlic too many time when dining out though. I wonder why?
jessielovestorun
School student, I sure hope you gave your little (yet stronggg) legs a break yesterday. Woah. Talk about a weekend full of hiking & walking. I would’ve been beat come Sunday evening & eating donuts for dinner 🙂 Haha! Big congrats on going back to school. Good for you. Always follow your dreams – big or small!
Dannii @ Hungry Healthy Happy
I agree that any excuse for an adventure is a good one. Those trails look great, but those doughnuts…..AMAZING!

Upcoming post on this soon, I hope! 🙂

You are tackling some hikes and apparently some donuts too. Please tell me you ate the apple fritter. Those babies are one of my all time favorites, but they need to be just right. Heavy on the apple pieces and heavy on the icing. Mmm, I’m getting exciting just thinking about it. I also spied the giant clove of roasted garlics as well. I hope you took that in one bite. You would love the garlic scape pesto I made. It’s smack your momma strong.
Brittany
Do you even have to ask!? The apple fritter was the first to go, in fact it was the main reason I went. Just another reason we are soul mates.
Amalia
Looks like it was an amazing time. I love your photos and your stories – your blog is really something. I cannot wait until you can come visit me and Britt and maybe we can all go hiking.
Christina Does It All

Congrats on going back to school! That’s so great. Donuts are one of my all-time favorite treats on the planet! Now I’m having a serious craving. I LOVE THEM and your donuts look heavenly!
The Zen Katt
Your donut shots look so good! Mine didn’t turn out too well. Probably because I couldn’t be patient and take pictures before chowing down. I loved getting to meet you and chat! Seriously, we have to do it again. And next time, we can hike those gorgeous mountains you’re always in! xoxo
Missy
I’m so excited! PLEEEASSSSE tell us what you are planning on schooling about. Please?
Pretty please?
And — 1.2 lbs? At the WF salad bar? I admire your restraint.
Brittany
I promise to share more!! Stay tuned my friend, I must create a coherent post about it first.
allieksmith
I love reading all about your hikes and seeing pictures! I agree that running + coffee and donuts afterwards is amazing! Good luck with school! That’s awesome!
Ashley
Sooooo exciting about going back to school! I really want to go back to get my meteorology certificate but I don’t think I can afford it this year so it’ll have to wait til next fall.
Mighty O donuts are THE best. I’ve actually only had the ones they sell at Whole Foods, but that cookies and cream (?) one you had looks incredible!
ahellams
First, your new lay out in incredible, I love it. Sorry if that is super late, I have been an absentee lately!!
What are you going back to school for?! That is so exciting, I am so proud of you for doing it. You are AWESOME SAUCE!

Your putting in the miles- that’s awesome!

Good luck going back to school! I’m halfway done with college now and it’s brutal. But I’m a full time student and part-time worker so that’s where all the stress comes from.
Running and donuts totally sounds like a great day.
B
A good adventure is anything with friends! Especially friends that I only see a few times a year! We’re hitting San Diego in a few weeks!
Amy
Brittany, I am SO proud of you for going back to school! It takes a lot of guts to hold onto your dreams and never give up. I hope classes go really well for you!
Mellie Dee
I’m so happy to hear you’re going back to school! Always follow your dreams! And I wish I could hike and hang out with bloggers and friends ALL the time. I need friends that can take vacation days off like me. The main ones I hang out here have strict vacation rules.

Super congratulations on your schooling decision. You are one bright cookie. And I love the hairdo so much. I know I keep saying this but it’s so true. How beautiful.
