Change

The bittersweet day came and left and I am officially no longer an employee at Trader Joe’s. It’s been real TJ’s (real fun, real annoying at times, real tiring, real exciting, real stressful) and I will continue to shop your cheap produce and cookies.

I may or may not have cried after being given this sign. My favorite sign artist made it for me, and it made my heart melt a little. What can I say..I am a big wuss. My favorite part about leaving work for the time being is MORE TIME WITH MY love.

More time for running, more time for cooking, more time for crafts, and more time for..studying.

As if I couldn’t drag my half marathon out ANYMORE, I now have the best certificate I have ever been given. Even better than my educational degrees.

I am framing this STAT to put on my wall next to my medal, my Disneyland 1/2 marathon poster, and my running number. Yea, this race was kind of a big deal to me.

This morning I ran my first CRISP run. The air was sharp, the leaves were crunchy, and the temperature burned my nose and lungs. It was AWESOME! I could run in these conditions all year. It was a gorgeous run. Yay. That is all.

Not much to talk about today. I am off to find motivation to study, enjoy the amazing fall day, and make my first spaghetti squash of the season!

Q(s):

  • Do you have a hard time dealing with change? Such as leaving a job, school, or living space? I turn into an 8 yr old child having their toys taken away when it comes to change. I make changes happen anyway because 90% of the time they turn out great!
  • What is your favorite time of year to exercise outside? Fall..specifically October. The sun is still shining, but the air is COLD!

  1. I actually do really well with change, which I never realized until this past year when EVERYTHING was changing and I’ve never been happier. That sign is so cute, would have made me cry too!!

  2. I struggle with change but have learned I need to embrace it. easier said than done for sure.

  3. That sign is awesome! You will have so much fun free time now yay yay :) ! My favorite time of year to run is FALL because I love the crisp air and so I don’t overheat haha.

  4. You are coping with change so well my friend :D
And congrats as well! That sign is adorable!

    Cheers

  5. Haha you are so cute! Enjoy your time with no job, even though it’s not too fun to be studying 24/7. That’s me now!

  6. Lou says:

Yes, I much prefer a cooler temp to exercise in…. kind of ard considering I live in a sub-tropical climate! Being in NZ is a nice (COLD!) change…. although I have started to going HOT yoga so I’m not making much sense here, am I?

Yay, change is EXCITING…. when you think about it, the only thing that is a given constant in life IS change :)

  7. I am not so good with the change… Which is probably why I… Wake up every day at the same exact time, eat pretty much exactly the same foods every night, and always have to schedule X, Y & Z… I have actually gotten a LOT LESS ANALLLLLLLLL since moving out to LA since my life is kind of spur of the moment these days, but I do have my ridiculous creature of habit tendencies that will just be WITH ME FOREVER! Thanks Mom & Dad for giving me your OCD and habitual ways, REALLY, thank you! LMFAO!

Brit – I miss you! I feel like I haven’t heard from you in ages! LOL! I am not feeling complete ha ha, maybe THAT’S WHY I have been having headaches for the past week! LOL!

  8. Awwr sweetest sign ever! I don’t always have the easiest time dealing with change, but I’ve definitely gotten better with it over the years after repeatedly seeing that change usually leads to better things. I’m sure that whatever’s next for you is going to be amazing :)

  9. Britta says:

Oh shucks! You and Manfriend are way to cute sometimes…. geeze :D woohoo! Yeahhhh for the first crisp fall run!! I have yet to have one of those.. still oddly warm here? CHANGE IS GREAT – I love it :)

  10. I don’t like change. BUT yayy!! now you will have SO much free time. Can’t wait to see what you’ll be up to! :)

  11. Alexandra says:

Awww that card would’ve made me sob like a baby! I love how personal it is–especially the message on the tiki dude’s shirt heehee :D I’m SO SO SO SO excited for you with all these new, fun changes going on in your life! I can’t wait to see where the adventures will lead you!!!!!

  13. Wa-haaay on being done…CONGRATS! Your run sounds awesome! Fall running is my favorite too…crisp, cool air and even better if the sun is shining….oh man now you’re making me miss the change in seasons! Right now it’s absurdly hot in Mumbai…which means the treadmill is my BFF!

  14. Oh girl, I don’t handle change well at all, haha! Though I will say I was so happy to leave my last job that I was totally okay with that particular change. ;) But yeah, definitely not a fan of it normally. So glad you have so many WONDERFUL changes coming for you now, though! More time for the fun things in life! :) Ps. your friends at work were so sweet to make that sign for you. I would’ve cried too, haha!

  15. I love fall running, too – I swear I run faster and can run longer. Girl, I love your hair! Too cute!

  16. Wow that has got to be bitter sweet but I know this is just the start of bigger and better things. I don’t handle change well at all…it is part of the problem I’m having such a hard time adjusting to my new job.

  17. I suck at change! I can see where it is hard to leave you job, but I am jealous that you will have more time to do all the stuff you enjoy. I would love some more time to play in the kitchen, train for races, and read books! And run, of course. The fall isby far my favorite time to be outside running!

  18. autumn runs are the best!

  19. Nawww, your love looks very happy to have more time with you too! Gorgeous pic with your certificate too! Well earned and is that a new, celebratory ‘do you’re sporting? Super cute.

  20. Kat says:

Oh my gosh what a sweet sign :) That was realy nice of them!
And you and your man are just way to precious.

  21. Patty says:

Sometimes, I’m really eager for change, but when it comes I get really sad/nostalgic. It sounds like an exciting time for you!! Congrats on the 1/2 marathon!!!

  22. I didn’t realize how bad I am with change. I recently just changed jobs and it was so much more difficult than I ever imagined.
Glad you will get to enjoy more things you love!! :)

  23. imakeeper says:

What a lovely sign… I can see why you are so torn up about it! But more time for running, manfriend, and eating (and perhaps studying) = excellence. Do not fret. Maybe after you are done with school and being a dental cleaner of teeth is not really your thing, we can pool our money together and buy a trader joe’s and run it. And you can open a side shop where you sell stray cats.

I looooove the certificate! Man, this race just gets better and better! I’ve never snagged one of those– you better frame that puppy with your medal and perhaps a picture of you and your love in your racing gear. It would be like a mini-running-couple shrine.

  24. Ahhh, I love everything going on in this post. Congratulations on BOTH of your lovely signs <3

  25. Arindam says:

That card is really beautiful. I hope you have a great time doing all the stuffs you enjoy. I find it difficult to cope with change but glad you are managing it so well. :) Good luck!

  26. ko0ty says:

Wow I would’ve loved working at Trader Joes while I was in school. I love everything there.. but I wish they had it in Canada. We make trips across the border just so I can grocery shop at Trader Joes.

  27. Congratulations on an amazing run! You look gorgeous!! And that card is so impressive!

  28. Kailey says:

I will and forever be jealous that you worked at Trader Joes because I’d kill to work there!
Enjoy more time with the boy ;)
