Summer has FINALLY come to visit Washington. Starting this past week temperatures reached high 70′s and low 80′s. These temps are heat waves for us rainy state natives.
Anyone that lives in Washington knows that weather like this is hard to come by, so we take advantage of nice days when we get them. Last Friday Manfriend and I spent the day at Wild Waves! Half water park, half theme park! Spending the day in the sun causes fatigue fast! To prevent slowing down (I must stay as LONG AS POSSIBLE at theme parks) we had a great breakfast.
Those waffles were so good. They didn’t last very long though. Fortunately I packed a grocery store to take with us. Theme park food is: A) not vegan friendly and B) the cost of one paycheck. Wayyy too expensive.
Bread, two tubs of PB, eight pieces of fruit, 2 bags of nuts, granola, cookies, and jelly! Oh and some sunscreen. When I was a hoodlum child I refused to wear anything higher than SPF 4. I liked to pretend I belonged on the Jersey Shore and tanned like crazy. I’ve grown up a bit and moved onto the SPF 45 and higher. Anything to save my skin from looking like this.
After 7 hours, two trips to the car for food and sunscreen reapplication, lots of rides and lots of slides, we left with sun kissed skin and empty bellies. A trip to the Spaghetti Factory was next on the agenda. I didn’t take any pictures of my dinner, I was too busy shoving food into my mouth as quickly as I could. I had a lot of bread, a lot of pasta, and a salad fit for a rabbit. It was a perfect summer day!
In completely random news, Thursday night after spin-class I had my first bowl of froyo in over 5 months. It was amazing, and well worth the “benefits” day. I justified the vegan vacation by having the plain tart yogurt with berries. It.was.so.good.
This hot weather is kicking my backside during my runs. I’m a big wimp when it comes to running in anything over 72 degrees. My mileage has been increasing on the training schedule for my half marathon. This past week I had three 4milers, a 5miler, and a 6miler this Sunday. Running in the heat confirms the suspicion that I was born in the ocean. I dump buckets like I am preparing for a drought. Hopefully these hot runs prepare me to run in L.A. That is all for now.
Q: Do you like theme/water parks?
P.S. Don’t forget to enter my giveaway for a free BondiBand headband!
P.P.S. I wasn’t really born in the ocean, I was born in a hospital just like all the other boring births.

I go through food obsessions and froyo was definitely one of them, it was conveniently located to my neighborhood chipotle (oh 3 blocks from my apartment) so I had a small love affair with both of them for a few months, yours looks fab. Speaking of vegan – have you found any decent vegan ice cream? I <3 tofutti cuties but other than that I haven't found any / am not willing to through the dough around to try them out. I'm a semi lact-tard so non dairy treats are way better in my opinion!
Ohh girl I eat ice cream like it’s my job!! I have plenty of vegan ice creams to share with you. The tofutti cuties are amazing, I love those! I have been buying my ice cream at Trader Joe’s recently because they have the cheapest and best tasting soy ice cream. When I feel like I need a break from the soy, I go to coconut, almond, or rice ice cream..all of which are great!! The coconut ones get pricey, so if you can find some on sale that’s the way to go. The small containers can run around $5.00..yikes!! I really like So Delicious ice creams, they have multiple milk bases that are all vegan and the price isn’t too bad. They have a lot of variety too. I find this brand at Safeway, or any other store like it.

Rice dream ice cream is pretty good, and so is the almond dream. Again, these smaller tubs tend to be a bit pricey which is why I always fall back on the so delicious brand because their bigger tubs are cheaper! I have tried cookie dough, chocolate fudge, and just plain vanilla in all of these and I have yet to find one I didn’t like!
I hope this helps!
You are STILL running in hot weather? And gaining so much mileage?
That’s it I hereby commission you to receive FREE waffles on request and as much fro-yo as you want to be obsessed with
Just show any store owner this comment.

Okay. Seriously. That froyo has got to be the most insanely gorgeous and tasty looking froyo EVER!!!!! What a great way to celebrate such a fun day and your first froyo in so long!!!
I always brings food when I go to theme parks. I find that most theme parks have very little variety and charge an arm and a leg for something entirely unsatisfying. Are those blonde raspberries on your froyo??!!
They’re golden raspberries!! I’ve never heard them called blonde rasp’s, but I assume it’s probably the same! SOGOOD.
I love water parks! There used to be one near me but it closed down. Sad day. Sad day. I don’t even want to know how unsanitary it is. I will still go!
looks like it was a fun time! I definitely go for higher SPF now and can’t believe I spent so much time in the SUN not wanting to wear any sunscreen!
Ahhh I love amusement and water parks!!! Sounds like a blast
and good job with runs in the heat. I don’t do that well at all.
ahh I wish we had a park close. You think 72 is hot!? jeezum crowe… it was 89 my first 5k. It’s been one of our hottest summers ever 80+ everyday!! I haven’t even really been able to enjoy the deck, it’s been too hot out there!!!
ps. OBSESSED with your ninja shot.. your sneaky.
Uh huh. I had two tubes of that very SPF 45, can’t now find them, and am eyeing that photo with a good deal of suspicion…
In Michigan, our theme/water parks are the Great Lakes and their accompanying beaches. Since we live in the middle of the state, the two-hour trips to those beaches don’t lend themselves to quick jaunts and so we don’t hit them nearly often enough.
Me + Misty went to SeaWorld yesterday… but it rained
Boo. BUT a dolphin played dead for about 10 minutes and totally freaked me out. I was ready to run off and find someone to remove the dead dolphin…. then it swam away (laughing at the lady freaking out!)
Yogurt And berries u can’t go wrong by the way I love walt Disney world it’s my home away from home… Ever been there??
Heck yes I’ve been there!! I am beyond obsessed with anything Disney!!
Hahah that P.P.S. almost made me spit out my coffee- glad to know you were born like the rest of us! Looks like such a fun way to spend the day- always a good idea to go armed with snacks! It’s one thing spending plenty of money on food and another thing spending on food you don’t even like!
HAHAHA. That looks like so much fun. I actually love water parks better then actual theme parks. Mostly because I don’t go to theme parks a lot in the fall so it gets so hot in the summer. Water parks are just refreshing. LOLZ., Plus I really just like the lazy river in water parks not even all the slides and stuff.
Excuse me, young lady, but there’s a lot of fruit on the froyo with no chocolate. I’m going to pretend I didn’t see it.
*Hangs head with overwhelming shame*
What a fabulous day!! And the fact that there were two different parts in one… water and regular= win. I enjoy both, but overall I like amusement parks more and that is because I am a major fan of any and all roller coasters! But water parks are a hoot too, I hope to go to one this summer sometime!
You are running in this weather ,you are a one stubborn girl , keep some flavored water to keep you hydrated besides this cup of berries and ice cream.
WHat a fun day!! Yes I always pack a small grocery store when we hit up theme parks all day. Its usually disneyland for us since we live only 30 minutes away, and that place is CRAZY expensive!! The only thing we splurge on there is water and Dole whip.
Umm lets talk about how I’m totally jealous that is what you consider a heat wave. I’m moving immediately. It has been like 106 every single day and I want to kill myself here in Texas. Oh how I miss any weather, but heat. I really could go for like -11 right now lol. Sounds like you had a fab day though. The one thing I will say about Texas is that we have an amazing waterpark. however it is only a waterpark, so boooo not fair for getting a theme park and a water park. I need one of those like next door to my apartment. Whenever my friends and I go though we always pack an entire cooler for lunch to eat because we are cheap and would rather be healthy than eat greasy gooop.
haha my cats do that! lol! I’ve been wanting frozen yogurt for the longest time! looks like a fun day
Whyyyyy has it been so long since you’ve eaten froyo, and what are those albino berries called?!
Because I went VEEEEGAAN!! They are golden raspberries!! They are so good!
Sounds like a great time! I’m seriously jealous of your hot weather and your froyo! Over here in the UK where I live I have neither
That waffle looks delicious, I have a bit of a thing for waffles.
I love theme parks and water parks but it’s been absolutely years since I’ve been to one!
FUN!!! I wish we had a water park close to us! I’d go all the time for sure!
I love water parks! I love theme parks! Both of them combined…awesomeness!!! It seems odd that Vegas no longer has a water park. It would do amazing!!! But they have one in the works. They are saying it will open next year but they seem to keep pushing it back.
I only love Kennywood!!!!!!!!!… it’s the local Pittsburgh amusement park, featuring 1920s wooden roller coasters!!! They are so fabulous! And original!
I hate Disney World (don’t sue me), I hate Disney Land (don’t beat me up), I hate Dollywood (bet you’ve never heard of that one!), I hate every amusement park other than Kennywood. The end.
NOOOO I LOVE DLAND! HAHA I can’t imagine anyone hating it!! But alas I will never sue you, beat you up, or disown you for this..since you allow me to continue to wear my lesbian shoes known as Birkenstocks.
glad to hear that you are getting some summer weather!
Your waffle breakfast looks amazing!! I can’t get over how much they charge for food at theme parks, etc – its like an arm and a leg
your pps actually made me laugh out loud. i love water parks! i think all slides should be covered in water. that is why i bring a bucket of water to the playground.
I definitely love water parks, but I hate the crowds so I like going out on the boat and swimming!
Do you live anywhere near Everett?
Gah I hate crowds too. It almost makes the trip not worth the money. I live about 1hr 45min from Everett..so..kinda!! Are you going to Everett sometime soooon??
I am such a snack packer as well!
I’m bad at packing snacks! I usually end up famished and end up eating whatever looks decent in sight. Not good.
After living in my city for almost 4 months now, I just found the best fro yo place ever. They had red velvet and cheesecake swirl and i almost died.
Oh my gosh. What fun! I got the worst sun burn of my life at a water park. Good job remembering the reapplication!!
Ahh I’m jealous of your waterpark adventures!!! Your ninja shot cracked me up! Cheers to snack packing
