The Day I Avoided Water And Enjoyed Life

I did it. I saw the movie. THE movie..The Hunger Games. To prepare for three hours in a movie theater, I drank minimal amounts of water throughout the morning. There was no way I was going to miss Katniss tromping through the woods for a pee pee party. I did however bring plenty of snacks in case the images of starving children made me hungry. I packed up two bags of Enjoy Life foods “not nuts” mixes, an apple, and an orange. Sure enough the moment I saw Rue chompin on groosling I busted out my apple.

Upon arrival, this is what I was presented with at the theater.

Yes, I am aware that I live in a town that is stuck in the 80′s when it comes to their seating arrangements. These seats are probably covered in E. coli, and lard from popcorn butter. Anyway, the point being..NO seat was off limits. I smacked my fine fanny right in the middle.

The movie was good, the book was better. No surprise there. Now I need the second book. The End.

I did get down on some trail mix after the movie due to immense starvation.

Beach Bash- sunflower kernels, pumpkin seeds, dried pineapple, apricots and cranberries

Beach bash is right..this was DELICIOUS! The pineapple chunks were HUGE (as you can see in the photo.) The flavor was great, the texture was great. I loved this mix.

Mountain Mambo- sunflower kernels, pumpkin seeds, raisins, apples, chocolate chips, and cranberries

I mambo’ed those chocolate chips all into my mouth. The apple chunks were just as large (and good) as the pineapple in the previous mix.

Overall: BOTH of these were stellar. The sweet/savory combination was PERFECT! Between my Manfriend and I, we ate half of each bag in less that 3 minutes…oops. I really need to work for the Enjoy Life company, because what could beat getting paid to eat allergy friendly foods all day? In case you’ve missed my other Enjoy Life posts you can click here and here. This company rocks my world, and so does Alina for sending me these goodies!

“The squirrels are going to be mad at me for eating all their food”-Manfriends reply to not nut mix euphoria.

Q: Did you see The Hunger Games? If yes, how did you like it?

I have not seen the movie and I did NOT realize it was that long. My sister just read the book and is wanting to go see the movie now and my brother read on the book until the early hours of this morning. So I will probably end up going to the movies with them to see it!

  2. Errign says:

I haven’t seen it yet because no one wants to go with!

  3. Becky says:

Mountain Mambo looks delish! PIcking up a bag of that this week! I have not seen the Hunger Games yet, but have heard great things.

  4. I saw the Hunger Games but I never read the book, haha! I looove bringing my own snacks.

  5. You know the part in the movie where those “dog things” appear? I knew it was coming but for some reason I jumped so hard I’m pretty sure my butt left my seat. And my arm did this weird thing where it flew out in front of me. Hahaha!! And keep in mind this theater was PACKED so I’m pretty sure a lot of people saw me do this.

I always mean to bring a snack but I keep forgetting!!

  6. Alexandra says:

I still haven’t seen it, I’m so lazy about going to the movies haha All I know is that beach bash deliciousness needs to get in my belly now!! :D

  7. Love those Enjoy Life trail mixes! I haven’t seen the movie, but I also haven’t read the books, so I guess I don’t know what/if I’m missing… I don’t know enough about it – it just sounds so weird and kind of gross/violent, but I heard it is so involved it doesn’t feel like 3 hours.

    • It doesn’t feel like three hours at all. It flew by, especially after reading the book I felt like the minor details being left out made it go fast. It’s rentable for sure.

  8. oh my gosh your posts always crack me up. i remember when i saw the hunger games and this one girl in front of me went up to go to the bathroom. i was like, what the heck?! crazy people. crazy!

  9. karinacocina17 says:

i havent read the book yet but when i do i will def check out the movie!

  10. send me your address, and i shall ship the second book to you. i haven’t made it through the first, and i don’t ever intend to do so. i own all three. :) my email address is the end! :) xxx

  11. Of course I’ve seen it! So good. I did also like the book better though! That’s usually the case. Don’t you love walking into the movie theater with a boat load of snacks? I always say no thanks to the overpriced and buttery popcorn. Have a great week!

  12. Lou says:

Haven’t seen it yet…. I am always weary of book adaptations…. they never seem to get it quite right. Would love to go to the cinema and see it though, it’s been sooooo long! Good snackage is crucial though… your squirrel munchies look a treat. Hows the no dairy going?

    • The no dairy adventure is going amazing. I am surprised by how much I’ve loved it after only a week. Perhaps it’s all in my head, but I feel AMAZING. My runs are easier, and I have more energy throughout the day. I plan to continue without dairy as long as I can go! I’ll be writing a post about it soon!! Thanks for asking!

  13. Lisa says:

    The Not Nuts look amazing…

I’ll be honest, I’m am 100% clueless about the Hunger Games. I only heard about it recently, and I have NO idea what it’s about. Maybe I’m too old?

    • Brittany says:

No no, you’re not too old! I just heard about it maybe a month ago from another blogger. I saw the trailer for the movie on their blog, and was immediately intrigued. I mentioned this to Manfriend and he bought me the book for my birthday. I was obsessed, the book was so good. It’s a unique, twisted story…so I had to see the movie!! It’s rent-able for sure.

  14. p0cahontas says:

I read all three Hunger Games books in 3 days. Obsessed. I was okay with the movie but I think the book was a million times better. I was definitely the a-hole in the theater with my own 100 cal bag of popcorn crinkling around in my purse. Glad to know I’m not the only one who packs snacks : )

  15. i love trail mix, im pretty sure if i can live off that stuff for a couple of years!
oh and i havent seen the movie yet, no spoilers please!

  16. That is why I am so glad cinemas in movie always have an intermission- my bladder can only hold so much :)! These trail mixes look amazing, I am more partial to the Mountain Mambo packet- dried apples & chocolate chips? er sign me up!

  17. I didn’t see or read the Hunger Games :)

  18. Brittany says:

Ha! Your theatre looks like mine! Kudos to you for being able to wait to see the hunger games-I went to the midnight showing of it. The books are usually better but I thought they did a good job in the movie. Yummy snacks too :)

  19. I saw the movie on Friday. I liked it. I need to read the next book, too!

  20. katalysthealth says:

I just saw it last night. I purposely DIDNT read the books because I didnt want to go into the movie with the books in my head. I knew I would be disappointed. I thought it was good though, and Im excited for number 2!

  21. hehe, cute post! i haven’t read the books so i dunno if i’d wanna see the movie. i’m always behind on these kinds of things! (to this day, i haven’t read/seen Harry Potter. I KNOW!)

  22. B says:

I saw it and I loved it! I agree the book was better but isn’t that how it always goes? I’m really looking forward to the next films!

  23. I just saw it yesterday! It was awesome. Can’t wait to start reading the next book.

  24. Mary says:

I didn’t realize the movie was that long. I enjoyed the book but I’m dubious about sitting for 3 hours. Your snacks sound terrific and might make it less of an ordeal. I hope you have a great day. Blessings…Mary

  25. I still haven’t seen the movie. I will eventually get around to it, haha! The girl I was going to see it with (my only friend who hasn’t seen it) is super busy with work right now (tax season – she’s an accountant) and our schedules haven’t meshed lately. Anyway, hopefully we will finally get around to seeing it next week! :)

  26. Ooo I haven’t read the book but plan to (after I watch the movie) I figured I can’t be dissappointed if there’s no bar for the movie to hold up to. & if I love the movie, I’d want more and then the book can satisfy that need. I totally over thought it, huh? LOL great idea not drinking too much water! I’m guilty of drinking half a large icee in every movie I watch and having to slip out in the middle of it. I need to remember this bit of advise! Anyway, I snack on trail mix all day during work, must find these ones! Xox <3

OHHH I just saw this movie, after whipping through the book in a mere 5 hours. I tried explaining to Pirate the plot and he told me that it sounded dangerous and crazy and that if I were in the Hunger Games, I would have a 50/50 chance of surving. Strength- running fast and nimble. Weakness- I complain, cry, pout, and like to eat.
