Taste The Rainbow

Greetings friends. Take a look at how I was welcomed home last night.

Meal planning round two has officially ceased.

Another successful week. Manfriend and I each guessed how much the total would be, and I won again. The total for the week was around $40.00. Four of the five days we had broccoli, brussels, and carrots for the side dish. The main dishes were: Spaghetti (twice), nachos, quesadillas, and soup.

Spag x 2

Nachoooooo

Color blast quesadilla

Mickey inspired soup in a bread bowl

Our meals were the result of a rainbow explosion. $40 might seem like a lot for this amount of food but keep in mind all the additives to each meal. All in all this was a success. These meal plans will become a routine for us.

On a random side note, I was on the Bachelor week one yesterday. I opened my front door to find Manfriend. He muttered the words, “Brittany..will you accept this rose?”

The flower shop in town has a sign board out front that looks something like this.

Manfriend’s name was on the board, and he got his free rose. Which he in turn gave to me. I accepted the rose even though he didn’t really say, “will you accept this rose.” Stay tuned for next weeks episode.

In beauty news..Orion’s belt has taken up residence on my face. It seems as if Orion himself has strategically placed a zit on each section of my face, one on top, one in the middle, and one on the bottom. I have a zit on my forehead, my nose, and my chin..all perfectly lining up as if a line were drawn through them. My Casper like complexion really allows them to stand tall.

Happy Sunday kids!

  1. First of all, how in the heck do you only spend $40 at the grocery store. I spend wayyy too much money!! Teach me your ways. Can’t wait for the next episode of you on the Bachelor, haha !

  2. Alexandra says:

40 bucks for all these noms?! SCOREEEE!
oh and I’m coming over for the spaghetti feast on Wednesday ;)

  3. Andrea says:

Hahaha! That is the strangest deal ive ever heard of. So random but very cool! I think shops in England should start handing out freebies based on peoples names- atleast you got a rose out of it! I think $40 is great for all that food! Those quesadillas look incredible! xxx

  4. Lisa says:

Wow—$40 is impressive. I think I spend that each time I go to the store (which sometimes happens multiples times in a day). I need lessons! Or maybe I need to put in more effort.
    The rose thing is cute.
The pimple thing is frustrating—luckily they’re temporary!

  5. Haha! I love your version of The Bachelor. ;) Also, your nachos look delish!

  6. pbbrittany says:

$40 for all of that is really good! All of your meals always look so yummy. Can I come live with you twin?? Pleasseeee? :P
Ohmygawd- don’t even get me started on zits. I have 3 planted on the top of my lip, one right underneath my mouth, one on my cheeck…they won’t stop showing up!! and Lisa ^^ is lucky that they’re only ‘temporary’ for her. Mine seem to last FOREVER. UGH. I hate zits. Ohkay.. my rants over.

  7. Lou says:

Hey, a free rose is a free rose! I don’t think Viper has ever given me a rose, stupid Viper. Tea tree oil dabbed on orion’s belt should send it packing toot sweet! Nacho glory… yummo Mexican is a fav in our house :)

  8. $40 a week sounds great! I really need to start planning my meals too. This week I had to spend over $100 since there was nothing left in my fridge and plus some other stuff. Your meals for the whole week looks great too. :)

  9. Teach me how to meal plan!!! I usually spend $50-$60 on groceries during the week even though I try my best to plan out most of my meals.

  10. Emma says:

Meal planning is such a good idea, I should really get on board with it.

You should put a glow in the dark star over each zit and tell people you’re going to a constellation conference. ConCon.

  11. I think $40 for the week is a great accomplishment, and it sure doesn’t look like you had to compromise on taste! I have to start meal planning!

  12. you tricked me! am seriously sitting here viewing ‘the godfather’ with sir edmund (my sort of manfriend), and i said, “OMG, Brittany stars on The Bachelor?!?!?!” and then i realised what really happened! book smart not always the brightest in common sense! that’s moi! take me or leave me! haha! <3 you! x

  13. I’m seriously impressed at $40! I need to be better about planning and budgeting when it comes to meals and the grocery store.

  14. oh gosh that soup in a bowl is so up my alley. I’ve actually been considering making a homemade bread bowl, but I have a feeling I may just end up filling it with melted peanut butter and call it soup

  15. ahhhh your man friend is adorable! I’ve seen in past posts :) That’s so nice to give you a rose bawwww it warms my heart. I’m loving all the eats for under $40.. That’s REALLY impressive – considering I spend that almost every time I go into a grocery store regardless of how soon I was last there.

  16. i had to grab a napkin when i saw them quesadillas. i was drooling. how embarrassing.

aww brit! that is so cute! my heart would melt if someone showed up at my door with a rose :’)

  17. myhighonlife says:

$40 is nothing! I just spent 70 @ Costco and don’t have much to show for it…. Those quesadillas look so yummy, I should make a trip out to WA for one :)

I want a rose. The end.

  18. Tiff says:

I’m really impressed by $40. Is that just dinners? The hubs and I spend about $90 per week on b,l,d + snacks… and we go out once a week, which isn’t included in the 90.

  19. Sarah says:

$40 is awesome, and I’m slighty jealous of it ;) for realz though! Mmmm brussles are so good and your spag/spinach combo up there is looking mighty tasty

  20. your food looks SO good. i want those nachos. right now. please make them for me :)
p.s. how cute is your man and his version of the bachelor?! PRECIOUS! good thing you’re not fighting 18 other catty girls for him :)

  21. Errign says:

Um, can I come over for nachos? Those look amazing!
